African airline to offer direct Vietnam flights

The CEO of Kenya Airways has announced the airline will inaugurate a direct service to the Vietnamese capital city. Mbuvi Ngunze says the thrice weekly service from Nairobi to Hanoi will launch on 30 March 2015.

With a 22:20 departure time, the outbound flight from Nairobi offers the convenience of travelling at night. An 11:15 landing in Hanoi gives passengers the chance of enjoying their holidays from day one.

Flights from Nairobi will operate on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays and return the day after with a departure time which is as yet unconfirmed. Kenya Airways will utilise a new Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the route. The airline has the aircraft configured with 204 economy class seats and 30 for business class.

Commenting on the forthcoming service, CEO Ngunze stated that Vietnam’s economy was booming and trade between the Southeast Asian country and Africa was increasing significantly. He added that Kenya Airways was in a prime position to take advantage of this with the new flight services.

Kenya Airways is set to become the first airline to provide direct flights from the African continent to Vietnam. Kenya Airways together with Vietnam Airlines are members of the SkyTeam Alliance and will each offer their passengers convenient onward flights via their respective regional networks.
