Laoag Philippines – Best Value Hotels and Guesthouses

Laoag has the only commercial airport in the region and as such is an ideal base if you wish to explore tourist destinations further up North. The city offers various types of accommodations from budget to splurge with many of them available for booking online.

Budget

We really liked dealing with Balay Da Blas (#10 Giron St. Brgy. 7-B Laoag City) from the get go. They were prompt in responding to our email enquiries and were able to book our 4X4 adventure for us.

The location is perfect as it is near most attractions in the city with a very good access to public transportation. The rooms are clean and adequate and staff are all accommodating and made sure that we have a pleasant stay. It's also worth noting that they have sufficient electrical outlets so charging all of your gadgets for next day's use is not a problem. Best of all, our complimentary breakfast from their onsite restaurant, Saramsam, was an excellent introduction to Ilocano food. A double occupancy room starts at PHP1750 and they also have rooms that can accommodate up to 10 people for as low as PHP600 per person.

Aurelio's Mansion (Barangay. 23, Vintar Road) is another value for money accommodation in Laoag. Room rates start at PHP1700.00 which is already good for 2 pax and come with free breakfast. We really love having access to a pool and the fact that they provide shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste. We also appreciated having a water dispenser on each floor. The only downside is that it's not exactly at the city centre but they do have a vehicle for hire. Also, there are no restaurants near here so you'd have to rely on fast food delivery or pack your own supplies.

Mid-Range

We really love Java Hotel's aesthetic (Brgy # 55-B Salet,Gen. Segundo Avenue, Laoag). We adore how its traditional design and use of indigenous materials meshed well with its modern facilities and amenities. It is centrally located with a very nice pool should you need a dip during a scorching hot day. If there's anything to complain about, it would be the lack of an elevator and WiFi in the rooms. Book a deluxe double room here for approximately PHP3800 per night.

Tatianas Homestay (#56 Airport Road, Barangay 50, Buttong) is perfect for those who plan to stay longer than just the weekend. It's a bit far from the city centre but it has its own kitchenette with clean utensils and a daily supply of water so you can cook your own food. The place is clean and spacious and the host was warm and friendly. The apartment is available for about PHP3200 and can accommodate 6 people.

Top End

Fort Ilocandia Resort Hotel (Barangay 37, Calayab) is a very expansive property that offers plenty of activities so you need not even leave its premises. You can horseback ride right on the spot or even get on a hot air balloon. We really loved the Olympic sized swimming pool as well as the beautiful landscaping. It's not close to town but there's free shuttle so it's no problem getting to where you need to be. Rooms at this resort costs between PHP5500 to PHP6800 per night.

Pamulinawen Hotel (National Highway Barangay 22 San Guillermo, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte ) is located very close to town yet away from the crowded streets so it was a quiet and pleasant stay. There's a shopping mall and a marketplace nearby for your shopping needs too. We were also grateful that the chef was amenable to some requests on the menu to accommodate our dietary requirements. We just wish there's WiFi access in our bedroom and a wider breakfast variety though. Rates at this hotel range from PHP4000 to PHP6500.
