Lombok Indonesia – 8 Best Hostels and Hotels to Stay

On the budget end of things, because accommodation is already so cheap there are very few hostels. Rather, there is the prospect of your own room to celebrate! Yay! On the most expensive end, Lombok isn’t short of any astounding, leave you jaw on the floor kind of places. In fact, there are plenty! There are just too many to speak about here, so we’re just going to mention a couple of the absolutely spectacular ones – see below.

Budget accommodation

Dream Catcher Camp is an astonishing little place, really. They are a self-proclaimed ‘Simple, little Hippy camp’. However, they are much more than what they let on. Far from the bog-standard facilities that you may be expecting, the rooms at the resort are downright inspirational. You can spend the night in a rustic, thatched tent of sorts, or you can choose to spend it in a hanging thatched egg. The decision isn’t easy, but there are worse things to be stuck between. The camp comes complete with a several fire pits, a couple of great spots to socialise, a volleyball court, a very nearby waterfall, incredible views of the countryside, and several guitars that are always floating around. You can grab Asian, halaal or vegetarian food for breakfast, too.

For one of the hanging tents you’ll be expected pay around 120,000 IDR, which is an absolute steal. The resort also has small dormitories. For a bed in a dormitory of four, you’ll have to pay something like 75,000 IDR. If you can spare the change, you’d be happy to have made the decision to stay in one of the tents.

In the popular Senggigi, there is good supply of budget accommodation. One of our favourites was the simple, but very nice Oggie’s Place Bar and Café. The property is just a couple of minutes’ walk away from the beach, which reason enough to stay there. However, there is more! It is also really close to the Senggigi Art Market and the Batu Bolong Temple. Right in the middle of all that is soulful and beautiful. The homestay has bicycles for rental, free Wi-Fi and a good breakfast that is usually included in your rate. The homestay has beds in a dorm that go for 100,000 IDR. If you’re willing to pay about double that, you can have your own air-conditioned room with Wi-Fi.

In Senaru, a small town near Mt Rinjani, there are a few good homestays. Our favourite was Pondok Guru Bakti. The rooms were really simple, but the owners were especially kind, the views incredible, and the food really hearty and well-priced. A room here will cost around 150, 00 IDR. You can get a room for even less than this though. Blue Mountain Cottage has rooms that run for almost half this price and are well worth a look if saving money is your highest priority.

In the popular and busy parts around Kuta, you won’t struggle to find cheap accommodation. This is largely because of the beautiful Kuta beach and the tourists that this attracts. A good, reliable spot is Kuta Beach Hostel. You can grab a bed in one of their dormitories for around 90,000 IDR. The property is really well located, just a couple of minutes of walk from a bunch of attractions. The staff are also really helpful, capable of helping you find the spots that you’re after.

Mid-Range accommodation

Sometimes it’s sad that absolutely luxurious facilities cost money. The world would be a better place if everyone had access to amazing places. JayaKarta seems to share a similar viewpoint. The resort offers fantastic facilities and it situated right on the Meninting Beachfront. Table tennis, real tennis, a pool table and a pool to swim in provide good entertainment without leaving the property. After all your lounging around on the beach, your body will need some healing – the spa can help with that. The resort also has a pretty special breakfast spread which is normally included in your rate. The rooms are decorated brilliantly and have many touches of quality. The hot tub is, by itself, enough reason to check out this resort. Even if you choose not to stay in their Deluxe Room, their most basic of rooms still come with air-conditioning and bath. Room rates begin at around 650,000 IDR and head up to around 2,000,000 IDR.

A homier feel is offered by the Kuta Baru Hotel. The colours are earthly and the lighting soothing. Stone and wooden details finish off the feeling of the rooms. Rooms come with air-conditioning, a great television set, a terrace, and if you’re lucky, a fantastic fireplace. While Indonesia rarely is cold enough to warrant the use of it, there’s no reason why you can’t use it in the heat of summer. If it gets too hot, you can go and swim in the photo worthy pool. The breakfasts at the resort are brilliant. Fresh fruit, banana pancakes and a host of savoury options lie before your swelling eyes. The staff are equally brilliant, always going to extra mile to ensure that their guests are comfortable and satisfied. To top it off, the resort is really well located. It is surrounded by a bunch of good restaurants, a couple of yoga spots, and a few surfing schools - you know, because it’s a couple of minutes’ walk away from the beach. Rooms go for around 850,000 IDR.

Top End accommodation

The Oberoi Lombok looks like it could be the set of The Hangover 10, or the latest in the never ending series of Mission Impossible films. Really, this place is astounding. The property is obviously on the beach front with its own stretch to call their own. You’ll have access to the resorts private pier – which, you know, is a decent spot to have a drink as the sun slowly dips under the horizon. The resort’s pool is sensational and cannot even be described without the use of colour and an outrageous amount of superlatives, so we’re not even going to try. The rooms are massive. Each little corner of them seem to have been poured over with scrupulous detail. The rooms will have you feeling like the resort thinks that you are the most important person in the world. If there was ever an argument for how money could buy happiness…

If you’re ready to spend an almost ridiculous amount of money for a night’s stay, then the very best can be yours. The very best includes your own pool. Don’t go looking at what the Luxury Villa has to offer unless you intend on staying there. Also, don’t go looking unless you are ready to pay 16,000,000 IDR.

The Katamaran Hotel and Resort presents a far more reasonably priced offer to those looking for a luxurious experience. The experience is not shy on extravagant touches, and to some, may be even better than the Oberoi Lombok. For starters, the pool is out of this world and is easily the dreamiest thing in the area. The glass-walled infinity pool is circled by both wet and dry pool loungers. Okay, the baths. In some rooms, the baths are on your balcony! With tall palm trees just meters away and the waves crashing behind them, I’m not sure that you could have a better bath than this. Many of the rooms have private gardens that are nothing short of a couple’s ideal scene. Okay, the details. The resort has their own stretch of beach, a dining table nestled within a second pool, a sunset bar and a brilliant breakfast that is included in your rate. Room prices hover around 1,500,000 IDR. A villa with your own pool will cost you around double that. If you’re in the mood for splashing some serious cash, the penthouse is yours for 8,500,000 IDR.
