Places to Eat in Jaipur

Jaipur is a trendy city in India attracting millions of tourists each year. The city radiates with tradition, interesting culture and of course delicious traditional food you must try there.

Street Eats

If you walk through the city, you will see many street food stands with different choices to eat. The local food is called Rajasthani food and the 70% of the cuisine is vegetarian.

If you’re looking for a great variety of local street food, we advise you to check Sethi Bar-Be-Que restaurant that is located in Raja Park. The place is popular for chicken tikka and tandoori that is prepared and served in front of you. The restaurant is set up as many street food stands with the parking lot in front where people usually hang out and enjoy their local food. Even if you prefer a vegetarian food, you can choose between so many options. This restaurant is the perfect place for people who want to experience and dip into the Indian culture.

Local Food

For people who want to sit down and have an amazing dining experience, we checked 1135 AD restaurant that simply stands out. The restaurant has a royal ambiance with the regal chairs and old tables that will take you back in time. You can choose between indoor and outdoor setting, but believe us, watching the sunset while enjoying a local food is the experience you must try. All food is served on silver plates and the portions are pretty big. The menu offers Rajasthani, Mughlai and North Indian cuisine which is an ideal way to experience the Indian food. Be sure to try lal maas as this dish is made by a local chef who knows how to prepare the meat by local recipes. You can find this stunning restaurant near Sheela Mata Temple.

Western and International Food

If you’re looking to taste some international food in Jaipur, there are also many restaurants available. Be sure to make a reservation at a restaurant known for an excellent ambient, but even better food – On The House. The menu is extensive as you can choose between different cuisines including Italian, Mexican and Continental. If you find yourself there in the morning hours, the Mediterranean omelette is the perfect breakfast choice. We ordered an Alfredo pasta that is served with white sauce and chicken. A perfect meal to experience Italian food for the very affordable price. If you’re a digital nomad, then this restaurant is ideal for you as it offers the indoor and outdoor seating with reliable and fast WiFi. Fresh and healthy smoothness are also available on the menu and we were absolutely stunned with their Banana/Flax Seeds smoothie.

Cafes and Coffee Houses

If you’re just starting your day, what’s the better way to start it right then having a delicious breakfast served with a French pressed coffee? Anokhi Café is the place you’re looking for! The cafe shows a western twist both in decoration and menu, but the ambiance and energy are simply amazing. If you have some work to do, the chairs are comfortable and the internet is fast. Order a coffee or a big pot of tea to have the most productive working time. The place is located on Prithviraj Road in KK Square Mall and it’s a bit on expensive side.

Is there any better way to finish your day than having a fresh green tea on the roof terrace that is overlooking the central park? The answer is Tapri Tea House (Prithviraj Road in Central Park)! The tea menu is very extensive, but we definitely encourage you to go with masala tea. The best time to be in the café is around the sunset if you want to see a breath-taking sunset over the city. Be aware that the place could be very busy around that time.
