Siquijor Island Hotels and Resorts

Siquijor is best known for its resorts and most of the visitors to the island stay on one of the many resorts located on it.

There is a wide range of resorts from the most fancy five-star resorts imaginable to resort options for those on a budget as well. In addition to resorts, there are also backpacker hostels and guesthouses, hotels and homestays, if you are interested in staying with a local family and getting a taste of the culture of the island.

Budget

One of the options for backpackers is JJ Backpackers. It’s located on San Juan beach and there are mostly dormitories with one private room available. Prices start at PHP300 which is expensive for a dorm, especially by Siquijor standards. However there is a restaurant at the site and it’s not possible to find an accommodation any closer to the beach.

Casa Miranda is also on the beach, just outside of San Juan. The rooms are cheap and though they don’t have air conditioning, each room has a fan and a private bathroom. Free WiFi can be had in the common areas but not in the rooms themselves. There is an onsite restaurant as well. If you are looking for a cheap way to get around the island, you can rent a motorbike from the hotel for PHP250 daily.

The Lazy Lizard is a new guesthouse in San Juan with a very helpful staff who is happy to provide tips for things to do and see around the island. It’s located in the hills about a five-minute walk from the beach but the views from the rooms are great all the same. It’s a very laid back and calm place to stay. A private room goes for PHP700 while a dorm costs PHP350 nightly. Again, these prices are somewhat expensive but because the guesthouse is so new, the facilities are very nice and well-kept, so it might be worth it.

Mid-Range

If you are looking for a quiet getaway location, the northern part of the island is the best option, with the Kiwi Dive Resort being tucked away near Sandugan Beach on the northern tip. The rooms offer free WiFi and a kitchen in some of them. The hotel offers scuba diving and massage. Rooms begin at PHP490 nightly.

Villa Marmarine is located near Siquijor Town on the road to Larena. It includes a restaurant with a deck overlooking the ocean and the food is good. Every room has a view of the ocean and the grounds are pleasant and well kept. The beach is also manicured every morning to ensure it is pleasant for the guests. There are hammocks for guest use and lots of nice gardens throughout the resort. There is free WiFi and rooms start at around PHP700.

Hard Rock Cottages are also on the northern end of the island and are located at the island’s northernmost tip at Bituag in the Enrique Villanueva neighbourhood, eight kilometres north of Larena. The rooms are more expensive at PHP1000 nightly during the low season and PHP1200 during the high season. There is a restaurant on the site and free Wifi included.

One place to stay away from would be a new resort called Cliff Side Resort on Sandugan Beach. While it is a new property and it hasn’t yet been “broken in” by guests, unfortunately the rooms don’t have air conditioning, only a fan, there is only cold water for the showers, and the price is an astounding PHP1000 nightly. You can definitely find a better deal in many other places.
