Legazpi Hotels, Guesthouses and Resorts

Legazpi is pretty much still a low-key city and you won't find a backpacker district or a 24-hour party place. In recent years however, it has seen a steady rise in millennial travellers and foreign visitors that brought about a decent scattering of accommodations in every price point.

For starters, all the attractions in the city are not in close proximity to each other so there's really no reason to stick in one area more than the other. The airport is also just 5 km away from the downtown. We actually had only two major considerations when we were looking for a place to stay: budget and comfort.

Budget

If you're flying solo and do not mind roughing it out with a bunch of equally cash-strapped strangers, you'd be delighted to know that there are several hostels in the city that can offer you a bed for the night for as low as PHP150 to PHP350. Mayon Backpackers Hostel comes highly recommended (040 Brgy. 11, Maoyod, Legazpi City, Albay 4500). For PHP350/night, you can sleep in a 6-bed dormitory, air conditioned with private toilet and bath.

If you prefer more privacy, Third & Sean's Place (Emerald St. Imperial Court Subdivision Phase 1, 4500 Legazpi, Philippines) offers the best value for money and is also highly rated. This former ancestral home is far away from a busy street but close enough to a boulevard for some action. It's a family run hotel and previous guests swore by the friendly staff and the sizable breakfast. Perfect for a long day ahead.

Mid-Range

There are plenty of accommodations in Legazpi that fit the bill starting from the top rated for best value, Casa Roces Bed and Breakfast (15 Sikatuna Street, Old Albay, 4500 Legazpi, Philippine). Guests loved its homey atmosphere, its location, and accessibility to public transportation.

If you really need to be close to the airport, your best option would be The Pepperland Hotel (Airport Road, Brgy 40 Cruzada, Legazpi, Luzon 4500, Philippines) which is just a walking distance from it. Guests love its beautiful European decor and on a good day, you might be rewarded with a view of Mount Mayon.

Another hotel valued for its close proximity to the airport is the Lotus Blu Hotel (Yashano Mall, F. Imperial Street corner Terminal Road Bitano, 4500 Legazpi, Philippines). It's fairly new so cleanliness and amenities are top notch. Added plus point for its convenient location being near a big mall, restaurants, and public transport.

Top end

As a premier tourist destination, Legazpi has its own share of swanky places for those looking to take their holiday experience to the next level. We loved The Oriental Hotel Legazpi (Taysan Hills Sto. Niño Village, Albay, 4500 Legazpi, Philippines). Three words: spa, fitness center, and infinity pool. As you take a dip, the view of Mount Mayon and its natural surrounding are sublime.

Albeit a little far from the city centre, Misibis Bay (Cagraray Island, Albay, Bicol, 4509 Cagraray, Philippines) is also worth a special mention. Once you get past the approximately one hour drive to this tropical paradise, it is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The resort offers several pools, a spa, and a private beach. Get yourself a villa and you get your very own pool right outside your doorstep. To top it all, they also offer water sports activities such as paddle boarding and windsurfing. You may be away from the hustle and bustle of the city but there's enough action going on here as well as some phenomenal sights to keep your Instagram feed busy for days to come.
