PSD Xpress launched in 2005 and was announced as ‘Cambodia’s Leading Tour Operator’ in 2016 at the World Travel Awards. The operator is also a leading agent for golf companies, a rapidly growing sport in the country.
There are two departures each day from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, leaving the capital city at 09.30 and 14.15 (scheduled to arrive at 15.30 and 20.15 respectively, a journey time of six hours).
There is also one service each day leaving Siem Rea at 08.00 and arriving into Phnom Penh for 14.00, tickets on this bus are priced the same at USD13.
The other route offered by PSD Xpress connects Phnom Penh with Sihanoukville in the south, home to stunning sandy beaches and isolated islands just off the coast. There are two buses departing from the capital each day, at 08.30 and 14.30, to make the four to five hour journey.
Services in the opposite direction depart Sihanoukville at 08.30 and 15.30 (arriving in the capital at 13.00 and 20.00 respectively) with ticket prices for trips in either direction available at around USD19.
The biggest advantage with travelling with PSD Xpress is that the buses on these routes tend to be newer and of a better standard that those with other operators in the country. This is no doubt one of the reasons for the operator’s award as ‘Cambodia’s Leading Tour Operator’ in 2016.
The vehicles are all pretty comfortable and offer roomy seats, something that is not always the case and a frequent issue for western tourists who often find seats very cramped.
Another bonus for passengers is that these vehicles are often less crowded than when you travel with some other companies, which obviously makes for a far more comfortable and enjoyable ride. But as news spreads of the high quality service offered by PSD Xpress, the popularity of the company may soar!
There are several other perks you receive when travelling with PSD Xpress such as the complimentary snacks and drinks you receive which are usually of a higher quality that the free snacks given out by some other operators. Each seat on these vehicles also has a power socket which is pretty rare on these routes and very handy for contacting someone in the event of a delay or to help find your hotel for the night.
Although, all the vehicles on these routes do come equipped with Wi-Fi, this is not always of the best quality and there can be issues on some routes.
Another issue is that there is a limited selection of routes on offer with PSD Xpress currently only serving three cities. This may change in the future but many passengers would like to use the company on all their trips around Cambodia, which unfortunately is not currently possible.
PSD Xpress have three offices across the country that you can visit in case you need any additional information. They can be found in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville. It’s also worth stopping by these offices if you are looking for any travel equipment as they have a wide range in sale at a good price.
When arriving in Phnom Penh you will disembark at 5 Street 80, Daun Penh. After all, it can be useful to know where you will be dropped in case you want to book a hotel nearby. The good news with being dropped at this location is that it is less crowded with tuk-tuk drivers than the drop-off points of other private bus companies so you’ll experience far lesser hassle as soon as you step off the bus.
Passengers are usually pleased with the high quality service and the comfort of the vehicles on these routes and since the operator’s award as ‘Cambodia’s Leading Tour Operator’ more travellers are choosing PSD Xpress for trips across the country.
For many, the biggest issue is the fact that the company only connects Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville and not some of the smaller destinations across the country or offer international services to Thailand or Vietnam. Many are hoping that this changes soon.
Of the routes that are currently on offer, there is less of a choice of departure times which can be a little inconvenient for some visitors, especially those on a tight schedule or needing to arrive at one of the international airports in time to catch a flight. For example, there is only one service each day from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, as opposed to the four daily buses offered by some other operators.
