Amed Indonesia – 10 Best Places to Stay

As the tourism industry of Amed develops, so does the array of accommodation options. The dominant amount of properties fall into the mid-range sector, which as a consequence, is the most competitive of the sectors. Some fantastic high-end spots with incredible locations may have you feeling tempted to splurge, though.

Budget accommodation

There isn’t a tremendous abundance of low-cost accommodation in Amed and its surrounds. However, of the places that there are, the standard is very high.

You can grab a room in a basic dormitory at the Bali Fab Dive Centre for as little 60, 000 IDR. What’s more, this hostel is no more than a five minute walk away from the beach. If you spend just 15, 000 IDR more, you can have air-conditioning with that. Breakfast isn’t included, but can be ordered with the staff at the restaurant.

A little distance away from the beach and from the bustle of the main road, Kputra homestay appeals to the peace seeking couples. The rooms are fantastic. They have intricate and humorously outdated paintings on the wall, a private outdoor bathroom, very comfortable beds, and a tranquil terrace that looks out onto the properties gardens. The homestay also offers a breakfast included in your rate. You should expect to pay around 270, 000 IDR.

On the upper end of the backpackers budget is Amed Bungalows. If you can forego a couple of cocktails, eat a meal or two at a warung, you’ll be living in means that far surpass the comfort of a single bed in a dormitory. For as little as 300, 000 you could have your own spacious room and a large terrace that overlooks the bay and sea.

Mid-range

More toward the typically tropical sort of hotel, Amed Dream offers some of the luxuries of the high-end spots without the hefty price tag. Give thanks for aggressive marketing models! It’s actually a little hard to believe that you can get all that you do for what you’re paying here. The cheapest room rate is around 440, 000 IDR. For this you’ll get something akin to a high-end hotel room - air-con, a fridge, a TV, a robe – the works. However, what really sells the place is the fact you’ll be swimming in a stunning seaside infinity pool, possibly with a sense of disbelief. If you can afford to pay just 50, 000 IDR more, you definitely should. You will be rewarded with sea-side views and a terrace form which to view them. Life is short and too many nights in hostels can wear you down. Spend the money, you’re worth it.

For quite the unique experience, you can spend the night in the Japanese themed Pondok Laut Bungalows. Based on the western end of Jemeluk beach, the property will have you feeling somewhat transported to another place with their brilliantly decorated rooms. The owners are fantastic and the breakfast is absolutely brilliant. We had big pots of tea, real poached eggs and more pancakes than we could eat! A standard double room at the property will set you back around 700, 000 IDR.

Easily one of our favourite mid-range properties was Villa Coral. The resort is based in on the eastern end of Jemeluk. The resort offers double story bungalows that are meters away from the soft sand of the beach before it. They have show-stopping views out onto the coral garden and the expanse of ocean that surrounds it. Along with the comfortable and spacious interior, the bungalows come with a private garden with couches and deck chairs. All rooms at the property come with air-conditioning and private bathrooms. However, Wi-Fi access is restricted to the restaurant. The beachfront bungalows run for around 750,000 IDR a night, whereas their double rooms that are located further away from the beach go for around half of that.

Om Shanti is a great choice for those looking for superior comfort without the price tag that can often come with it. The rooms are tip top. Each room come with a water dispenser, air-conditioning immaculate bathrooms, and high quality bedding. Each room also has a terrace that looks out onto the surrounding area and sea. The small pool that offers similar views is just another reason to spend a little extra than you would do on a backpacker spot. The staff are predictably very warm and helpful and the rates are very fair for their offering. Prices begin at 400,000 IDR for a double room and extend upward to 650, 000 for a deluxe double.

Honeymooners! We all know that getting married and all the consequent events can be a little pricey. However, your honeymoon is the last place that you should be skimping money. Studies show that people who have an ethereal time at the Nirwana Resort and Spa in Amed go on to stay together for longer. You should give this place a go then, right? The resort costs just 800,000 and includes all the necessary items to do your honeymoon properly, the most prominent of which is their sunset facing infinity pool. The resort is directly on the beach and the surrounding activities, like snorkelling or cycling around the town, are in good supply. There shouldn’t be much holding you back at this point.

Top end

The Santai Hotel doesn’t fail to impress at any level of inspection. Sulawesi-style wooden bungalows offer an incredibly picturesque image of what a holiday should look like. Verdant tropical gardens envelop the bungalows and beachside pool while splashes of colour from vibrant flowers complete the idyllic setting. The best it gets at the resort is the luxury of the Ocean View Bungalow. With a bamboo rooftop, open space, high ceilings and warm coloured decorations, a soothing ambience is brought to the space. The view of, and sound from, the waves crashing on the beach do their part in creating the ambience. The bungalows go for around 1,300,000 IDR. You can get a room for almost half the price if you can’t spare the change for the bungalow. Their suites are well priced and will still have you swimming in their gorgeous pool, eating your included breakfast in flip flops and a flowery t-shirt.

Continuing the list of unbelievably idyllic places is the Villa Bukit Segara. The property is based just to the east of Wawa Wewe II and is certainly well worth the trip out there. The Villa doesn’t come cheap. However, unlike normal properties, you stand the chance of having the entire complex to yourself. When the Dutch owner is away, then, you could find yourself floundering around in a place too extravagant, too magical, too much for the price you paid. It’s unlikely that you’ll be complaining. Sliding glass doors that allow views of the ocean from your bed, a split level infinity pool that stares at the horizon and a big lawn filled with palm trees finish off the place. The property is stunning and is a great shout for small groups of travellers. With a fully equipped kitchen, there isn’t any reason to leave. Well, besides diving, hiking, and exploring. But maybe those things could wait? A double room will set you back around 1,250,000 IDR whereas a suite will cost around 600, 000 IDR more.
