Ahmedabad India – Hotels and Resorts to Stay in All Price Ranges

Ahmedabad has a vast variety of accommodation to suit every budget. It is, however, a fairly expensive city so please keep in mind that even budget rooms may be a little less comfortable yet pricier. You will find most of these in the Lal Darwaja area, close to the old city quarters. Mid-range and top-end places are located parallel to the east bank of the Sabarmati River, on Khanpur Road, or west of the river, where it is far more tranquil but further away from most of the tourist hot spots.

Budget

1. Hotel Mehul

Hotel Mehul on Relief Road in Lal Darwaja is a good option if you’re on a really tight budget. Situated opposite Electricity House, it is conveniently close to both the city’s railway station and the ST bus stand. The rooms are very basic but clean and spacious and come with small en-suites, TVs, and wardrobes. The hotel has no hot water, and Wi-fi service is charged at an hourly rate. Some rooms have small balconies, facing a quiet street. The staff is cordial but formal, yet happy to assist whenever possible. This is a good place to stay for a night or two if you’re on a fixed schedule and budget. Room rates start from around INR500 for a single.

2. Metropole Hotel

Another budget option nearby is the Metropole Hotel, located on the same road as Hotel Mehul. It is within a short distance from various amenities and tourist attractions such as the Badra Kali Temple and the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque. The family-run Metropole Hotel has large, airy rooms, with comfortable beds, cable TVs and round the clock room service. The rooms are clean and well maintained by friendly and helpful staff. A basic single at the Metropole costs INR400 per person per night.

3. Hotel New Esquire

Hotel New Esquire, opposite Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, offers similar, simple but clean rooms, as well as dormitories. The rooms are fully equipped with basic amenities such comfortable beds, clean linen, tables, chairs and attached bathrooms with hot and cold water and essential toiletries. This is a great budget hotel with hospitable staff, modern facilities, around the clock front desk, housekeeping and an on-call doctor. A dorm bed for a night will cost you around INR250; a large double will set you back around INR600 per night.

4. Cadilac Hotel

Cadilac Hotel, on Advance Cinema Road, opposite Electricity House, is one of the oldest in the city, but is reasonably clean and well preserved. As all the other budget hotels it offers simple but large rooms with cable TVs, communal bathrooms with hot running water and a lounge area where you can order chai and a light snacks. The hotel is efficiently run and all the guest are well looked after. The Cadilac offers single, double and dormitory rooms. Prices for a single start from around INR600 per night.

Mid-Range

5. Hotel Volga

Hotel Volga, off Relief Road, hidden behind the House of MG hotel, in Lal Darwaja, is an excellent mid-range option with 30 smart, clean, airy and bright en-suite rooms with a retro-style décor. The hotel has a range of in-house facilities such as housekeeping, round the clock front desk, a dining area, free Wi-fi, a dry cleaning and laundry service and exceptionally helpful staff, who will see to your every need. A non-AC single room will set you back INR950; a lavish double will cost around INR1800.

6. Hotel Ambassador

Another great option within the mid-range budget is the Hotel Ambassador, on Khanpur Road. Recently newly renovated inside and out the hotel is managed and run by a super professional team who greet you at the air-conditioned lobby with a smile. The en-suite rooms are stylishly decorated, well appointed, super clean and comfortable. It is conveniently situated near Nehru Bridge and the Sabarmati riverfront, as well as various local amenities, yet away from the noise and traffic of the city centre. The hotel offers free Wi-fi, car rental, safety lockers, money exchange, and has its own in-house restaurant and coffee shop. Prices start from around INR2000 for a double.

7. Cama Hotel

Cama Hotel, also on Khanpur Road, is a little pricier with a family sized double costing around INR2500. The hotel is surrounded by a lush garden with views of the of Sabarmati river, and ramparts of the old city quarters. The en-suite rooms at Cama Hotel are large, very bright, elegantly furnished and offer a number of creature comforts such as free Wi-fi, mini-fridges, TVs, tea and coffee making facilities and extra blankets. The hotel is located about 4 miles from the city’s airport, a 20 minute walk from the Gandhigram Railway Station and a stone’s throw away from the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque. Some of the rooms in the hotel have balconies overlooking the river. Cama Hotel facilities include 24-hour room service, free parking, a breakfast buffet, an outdoor pool and a large garden area for children plus a great restaurant with a varied menu offering both local and continental cuisine. Additionally, it has an all night coffee shop, which also serves snacks and sweet treats. A great place for a family stay with staff who are efficient, courteous and helpful.

8. Hotel Ritz Inn

Hotel Ritz Inn, on Station Road, in Kapasia Bazar, is a very smart and elegant establishment and offers excellent value for money. The hotel is centrally located, within a walking distance from the railway station and about a 15 minutes drive from the airport. It is also conveniently close to the city’s commercial and cultural attractions, offers in-house airport as well as railway transfers and car service. The Hotel Ritz In has beautiful decorated en-suite rooms with superb beds, free high-speed Wi-fi, complimentary water, LCD TVs, 24-hour room service, laundry, an on-call doctor and incredibly amiable and efficient staff. We also recommend you check out their in-house restaurant, which serves up an excellent dinner. A deluxe room at the Ritz Inn costs INR2900 per night.

9. House of MG hotel

If you’re after something truly luxurious we recommend you head straight for the famous House of MG hotel, opposite the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque. The 1920s building was once home to a textile magnate, but was later converted to this magnificent heritage hotel, which offers incredibly large, veranda-edged, stylish en-suite rooms with king size beds, free Wi-fi, a mini bar, an on-call porter, complimentary laundry service, airport pick up, bathrobes, toiletries, flat screen TVs, a DVD library and all the other creature comfort one might expect from a top end hotel. The staff are super slick and efficient and will happily show you around all the in-house facilities, which include two restaurants, a spa, a gym and a swimming pool. 10. Aloft Ahmedabad

Aloft Ahmedabad, opposite Bhagwat Vidhya Peeth, on SG Road, is another superb option if you’re after a top end hotel, close to various local tourist hot spots but away from the traffic-laden city centre. This uber-modern hotel has adjoining rooms, some with cribs, which are perfect for a family stay. The riverside and city views are fantastic, and the rooms are equipped with numerous modern facilities, including high-speed Wi-fi, complimentary bottled water, fruit baskets, toiletries, a butler service, English language newspapers, tea and coffee facilities, and minibars. The hotel is incredibly well managed and staffed with super efficient personnel, who are knowledgeable, friendly and always happy to assist.
