If you ignore the rough tracks the train is driving on, it’s perfect. But thats everywhere the same. With a sleeping pill the time flies. Everything was good, other companies have nicer wagons, but it was clean and we got small bags with bananas and water. So all in all it’s good to travel with.

Very nice trip. The beds and room were tidy, blankets adequate. Nice free snacks and drinks.. Star of the trip was the scenery- Amazing. Toilet wasn't too scary by the journeys end. Hardest part was the confusion of checkin at Hanoi Train Station. But this was worked out by us and the rest was easy.

Die Vorinformation betreffend dem Umtausch des Vouchers in das Zugsticket dürfte aber besser sein. Ich ging 2 Tage früher im Bahnhof zu den von Ihnen erwähnten Schalter. Dort wurde mir mitgeteIlt, dass der Umtausch eine Stunde vor Abfahrt erfolgt. Dies geschah aber wieder nicht an einem Schalter sondern bei einem Mann, den ich angesprochen habe, weil er mehrere Tickets in der Hand hielt. Dieser Mann sollte mindestens in den vielen Leuten in der Skchalterhalle ein Hinweisschild bei sich tragen!

Sleeper car looked absolutely nothing like the pictures and the cabin was clearly much, much older! However, linen was clean, room was also quite clean and had enough space for all the luggage. Air con was ultra high (which was okay for most, but got a bit too cold overnight). Train left and arrived on time. Was expecting (based on previous reviews)horrible toilets, but they were, actually, very normal!

The train ride was typical, the compartment we were in had A/C and if you kept the door shut you could keep out the cigarette smoke smell, however it was infested with small cockroaches. If you have the option to take a sleeper bus instead I highly recommend that route.

We presented the voucher at the desk and were given boarding passes no problem for our family of six. They looked after our bags for a small fee while we looked around Nha Trang as we had come from Da Lat. We had a compartment with four beds and another for that two of us had to ourselves. Yes the toilets were pretty average and there were a few little cockroaches but staff were so nice with the kids and it is an adventure not the Hilton so enjoy what was a great overnight to Da Nang for our family.

A little confusing at the station (note: 'Gate 6' as printed on voucher just means 'Platform 6' for example). We were approached by a Livitrans staff member in waiting area to show voucher and receive tickets as there is no desk or counter to do this.
Once aboard, everything was fantastic. Cabin included water & fruit. Bedding was clean. A service trolley came around selling drinks & snacks shortly after departure and we were able to preorder coffee for the morning, half an hour before arrival.

Train left on time and arrived on time. Cabin was clean and tidy, traveling 1st class VIP. Complimentary drinks and fruit were available, but would still recommend taking your own snacks. Not as smooth as Bangkok to Chiang Mai train. None of the staff spoke English. For some extraordinary reason we were woken at 7am in the middle of nowhere! Our exclusive cabin was no longer exclusive when two passengers joined us in Hue!

Generally satisfactory but needed better direction to carriage and cabin. Please get rid of non train staff from hassling us with our baggage on the platform and wanting payment for directing us to our carriage. Cabin temperature was just slightly too cool. Would certainly take same train again.

Our second trip and as highlighted in earlier reviews some minor confusion when boarding. Our voucher stated train SE2 when we were actually travelling on SE4. Guards speak no English, but fortunately someone came to our help and gave us tickets albeit that they were issued in other people's names. However, all turned out ok. The carriages were swept and cleaning linen and food (pot noodle) and water provided. Best part of the trip from HCMC to Hanoi was the coastal route from Da Nang to Hue. Glad we have done the trip, but probably won't repeat it.

This website was the most difficult of all the other bookings I made for our Vietnam trip at the end of last year. I had to ask the booking office to send me the tickets several times because they did not believe that I had not received the email confirming our booking. In the end, we received and all is well with the world.
Comments on the Livitrains train trip - it was how people had described it, very shaky and not conducive to a good night's sleep. Lunch consisted of noodles in a cup. Good thing we brought along some snacks. Dinner was a compartmentalised plate with white rice, a tough piece of chicken and alien soup. (Alien soup?) those who have travelled on the train will know what I'm talking about. Toilets are western-style, but that's where it ends. Bring your own toilet paper!!! All in all, I gave it three stars and that's being generous, but it was something we wanted to experience and it's been crossed off the bucket list.

Even though we originally booked 2 lower births in a cabin. After a couple of stops the guard insisted that I moved to the upper birth to allow a lady to have the lower one. But the upper birth was comfortable once I had managed to get up there. The guard knocked on the door to let us know that our station was next and directed us to our exit.

The 4 berth on Livi is not as good as the 2 berth on Vietnam rail. Random people come in and out for different stops and the cabin door is a bit loose rattling on every move. The Livi operator just came and disappeared. No wifi available

Nothing like VIP … the place is just basic, not clean. The staff at the station was not aware of this kind of reservation. After 15 minutes and calling someone they gave me a ticket with a different coach number … don’t expect much… if you want a VIP treatment, book a premium car not the train!

The Staff are very helpful, my friend and I had the 4x vip sleeper to ourselves which made things a lot more comfortable! We both slept on and off, you kind of get use to the swaying and stopping and starting motion, it’s a little noisy so take ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper

Bathrooms were disgusting, my cabin was nice and clean, but one woman was complaining of roaches in hers. It was an ok experience. Train was bumpy so was unable to get a good nights rest, but it could have been worse.

We travelled with Livitrans and on the voucher, there was written that the paper itself is a boarding pass. But the staff did not let us in. Luckily, we asked a lady in the near bistro (she was surprised as we were) and she called someone else who came with our tickets. It was one big chaos! The staff in the trained asked us if we want tea or coffee in the morning, but in the morning, they wanted us to pay for it. For comparison - from Hanoi to Lao Cai, we used Fanxipan Express and the morning refreshment was for free, beds were longer and air condition was fine. Air condition in Livitrans was really cold - people sleeping downstairs had to sleep in jackets and hats!

We had a voucher four four people in a 4 person VIP sleeper. I went to the station the day before to try to get the actual tickets with cabin numbers but was told to return a half an hour before the train. We arrived an hour before and were told to wait and then someone ushered us through to the train with just the voucher. He was a helpful employee with no English but he got us to our cabin. The cabin looked fine but the teenage girls with us were freaked out by three different bugs going up the wall. Air con was nice and cold. It is great to leave from city centre in HCMC and arrive into the city centre of Nha Trang. We didn't see much scenery because we went overnight but previously enjoyed good views on longer routes. The toilets were very basic but functional.

VIP x 4 sleeper was not as expected. Reasonably clean however loads of bugs everywhere including small cockroaches. 2 free bottles of water but no snacks. Mixed male and female and train ran almost an hour late. My standards were never high to begin with but this was slightly lower than expected. Also train does not just stop at Da Nang but multiple stops. Ensure to ask when you are arriving at your destination and set an alarm to wake you up around that time. It would be easy to miss your stop.

Not sure if the fault here lies with 12goasia or livitrans. As per many other reviews on tripadvisor this did not seem to be a livitrans service but a standard vnr train. Whilst I’m not bothered by this and the train was fine it was not as advertised and the communication about how to pick up tickets was awful. Just so people know you exchange the voucher at the desk in Da Nang station for your tickets...

As with other reviews, there was no Livitrans ticket place at HCMC. We had to ask platform staff for help. Carriage nothing like pictures and no different from standard despite paying extra. Small bottle of water and a face wipe was all that was provided. AC worked. Bring earplugs!

Journey was pleasant and train ran roughly to time. The only issue was boarding the train. Despite our printout from 12go stating go straight to coach 11 and the staff at the Livitrans desk in Hue station also saying go straight to train, we were nearly refused boarding due to the on board staff not understanding our ticket. We were allowed on and after around 10minutes the Livitrans rep on board ushered us to coach 9 and gave us our actual ticket. This actual ticket did not match the berth we were in or our passport numbers

When I did the booking, I hadn't realised that I would receive only a voucher (without seat reservations) to change into a ticket at the train station, so when we arrived at Nha Trang, I was told at the desk to come back again 30 minutes before departure of the train. But since I didn't want to take the risk to end up with the upper benches in the compartment, I went to a different desk, and the staff noted the seat reservation in ballpoint pen on my voucher. When I returned 30 minutes before departure, I was given a scanning printout, so everything was fine in the end, if not a bit inconvenient. According to the display panel the train should leave from platform 2, but everybody told us to wait on platform 1. When the train arrived finally, we all crossed the tracks to board the train from the "wrong" side - a new experience. The compartment was okay (no cockroaches), but due to the air conditioning extremely cold in the upper benches (it must have been like 18 degrees Celsius). In the night the air conditioning stopped from time to time, so it was more bearable. In the morning there was an announcement via loudspeakers and by the conductor also to get ready for arrival at Da Nang. It was a good experience and I slept well during the night.
