A railway journey is a convenient way to explore the country. Charmy Express is one of the operators you can book a train ride with. Before confirming your booking, remember to check the date of your travel, class, price and conditions of your fare.

What are the Most Popular Routes of Charmy Express?

What are the Train Classes & Prices of Charmy Express?

Depending on the length of your trip and your preferences you can choose a first or second class ticket in a sleeper coach for an overnight trip or opt for a hard or soft seat if available. Note that the choice of ticket classes depends both on the route and the length of your trip. Basically, your train may feature first class berths but you will not be able to book one if you are doing just a short two-hour stretch. In general, second class berths are a good choice for longer trips, and soft seats get you covered if your train ride is supposed to take under 4-5 hours.

Pros & Cons of Train Travel

Pros of Train Travel

  • The best thing about railway travel is no traffic jams. Even on rush-hour, long weekends or during the high season
  • An easy online booking process – you do not need to go to the railway station, which was the case in many places not so long ago!
  • Prices for train tickets are usually more affordable compared to airplane tickets yet for certain destinations and trips the total travel time can be almost the same
  • While rail travel is obviously slower than air travel, railway stations are often located in the centre of the city which saves you a sack of time getting to/from there while airports are almost always are quite a long way out of the city
  • Travelling by night allows you to save on a hotel room and sleep well at the same time – opposite to a night bus where even the sleeping class is a huge compromise
  • On certain routes luxury service is available

Cons of Train Travel

  • For longer trips a train ride is definitely more time consuming than air journeys
  • Trains do ride on schedule but being out of schedule is not unheard of for train travel – and delays can be huge, so if you are planning a connection to your flight, carefully check the time your train arrives at the station and think twice.
  • Cleanliness is sometimes an issue with second and third class tickets, and with toilets, too.
  • If your train makes a lot of stops, in some cases it is difficult to figure out when to get off as stops are not always clearly announced or marked with the exception of an electronic screen.

Lovely trip. Long but beautiful scenery. Beds were thin but long enough for my tall family.

Beds were quite hard and the train was very noisy. We were in the last compartment by the outer doors and one did not close properly so a lot of track noise came in.

2 stars because we arrived safely and on time. We booked a VIP cabin, Nha Trang to Da Nang. However, there were no VIP cabins, they were all the same. Also, we payed more than double the regular ticket price of others. It will be cheaper to book this in any train station rather than online. The room was small, and there was no wifi. The worst part: the blankets and pillows were not washed. We saw people get in and out. After each person that left, the unfriendly conductor would come and pack the used pillow and blanket into a new plastic bag, and put them back onto the bed for the next person to use. Toilets were okay, we weren't able to sleep. The conductor kept opening the door about once every hour just to look inside.

The cabin was the same as the standard only difference was a pillow and blanket. And some soda. Definitely not worth double the ticket price. On way back now blankets given and AC very weak. Just get a standard cabin. Plus the bed on way back was very firm

We were not allowed on the train until the last minute and where repeatly asked for our tickets, the voucher was not clear to them and they could not find our booking. We were told to get off the train again in a rude manner which was a scary experience for our daughter. The cabin was not VIP and def overpriced.

The sleeper train is an experience! The team are Nha Trang station were really helpful (one staff member was a little confused by the PDF- but another team member helped and we go through the gate). We arrived an hour early and had got our tickets check somit wasn't a problem. The waiting area is fine, big fans but no AC. The train it's self is clean (although towards the end of the journey the WC got a bit soggy - bring your own loo roll!). Sleeping wise is a loud old train! We booked two bunks in a 4 dorm cabin and found ourselves having the whole cabin to ourselves. The sleeping mats were very firm, the pillow fluffy and blanket clean and soft, we were also handed a bag with water, crisps and a fizzy drink. There is a Bar/catering car at the front of the train but it closes at 10 pm. Over all the journey was fine, I wouldn't say I arrived feeling rested, but it was a good experience and very different from UK and EU train services. Good value and reduced my air miles!

Very expensive, for a dirty and uncomfortable compartment! The vip part was a bag with a banana a pack of chips and 2 drinks in it. People just randomly openend my door and at the point where the old lady next to me peed in a bucket I questioned why I paid 71€ for this trip. The beds were also really hard and I could hear the person in the room next to me clip their toenails so I could not really sleep.

I awoke around 5am to find my legs covered in insect bites and itching, having spent the day in a couple of bars with a friend, not being near vegetation, and wearing chinos and socks all day I can only ascertain this came from the train. The bites are severe and have had to seek advice from a pharmacist to aid recovery but my legs looks a mess, 24 bites in all only on lower leg. I expected to have more of a food service offered in cabin or guidance to a buffet car, only a bag of potato chips, small waffle, soft banana, water and Coca Cola was left at the start of the journey so nothing else to eat from 20:50 Thursday to 15:00 Friday when I checked in to my hotel. I have pictures of the damage the bites have done should you wish to view

Had to have the back seats … were we last on the pick up? We were informed that we had “booked” the back seats which was not true at all As it turned out the trip was ok in the end but a full van an hour late and having to have the back seats was a bit much for someone who suffers claustrophobia

It was better than we expected. Train left and arrived on time. It would have been nice to have the snacks that was part of our package that we bought to be displayed on the table instead of being in a brown paper bag. Washrooms were clean. The door to the compartment to get food was broken while we were there.

Welcome gift with bottle of water, chips, coke and waffle. Single bed, I slept well during the trip. A coffee on arrival, by a street vendor and that’s it!
