Passenger reviews out of total 4,510 passengers traveled with us on this route

At 12Go our operators offer three types of service:

Cheap, Fast, Good - but you can usually pick only two of them!
Cheap & Fast won’t be Good. (e.g. buses from/to Khao San Road, local buses or 3rd class trains)
Cheap & Good won’t be Fast. (e.g. VIP trains in Thailand)
Fast & Good won’t be Cheap. (e.g. private limousine services, or VIP24 buses vs Express buses)

Make your choice! Please remember that though we are closely monitoring services, we are still an agency marketplace - meaning we focus on ticketing service and route availability / coverage rather than on factual seat recline angle you got today ^_^

★★★★☆ Jan 16, 2018 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways)
★★★☆☆ Jan 15, 2018 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways) :
Cabin was comfortable but found the staff a little abrupt.
★★★★☆ Jan 11, 2018 (van VIP, Grouptour) :
Trip was quick and uneventful. No 'beeping' sound as reported in other reviews. Single stop for food/bathroom, which everyone appreciated. Back row may be restricted from fully reclining due to bags but we rearranged the bags from the backseat and were ok to recline our seats. As mentioned in other posts, the air con is on but its not unbearable, just pull out the jumper/jacket you had for the existing (cold) weather in SaPa. After walking by the 'office' the day prior, we realised the address for SAPA Grouptour's SaPa office had changed, we contacted 12GO and the address on our tickets was updated. While we were told they would've walked around to collect us, I'm not keen on unnecessarily dragging my bags through several blocks of mud in the pouring rain and so it was just as well we checked and contacted 12GO so they could provide accurate details for our taxi. Given previous reviews, the change appears to have happened awhile ago but the details on the vouchers weren't updated (the new(er) vouchers from 12GO appear to now be correct). Driver dropped us off two blocks from our hotel but suspect this was due to miscommunication by the team at the SaPa office vs a mistake by the fairly on the ball driver. All in all, a pleasant and quick journey but doing our homework meant less stress on the actual day.
★★★★★ Jan 11, 2018 (van VIP, Grouptour) :
Brilliant service. Comfy seats. Well driven. WiFi, free water and charging point. We made regular stops at nice service stations and got dropped of at our hotel. Worth every penny.

★★★★★ Jan 9, 2018 (bus VIP Sleeper 41, Grouptour) :
Clean bus.
★★★★★ Jan 6, 2018 (bus VIP, Sapa Express) :
Very comfy seats - plenty of room - awesome service - great way to travel. Thanks.
★★☆☆☆ Jan 6, 2018 (van VIP, Grouptour) :
Had to sit in the front seat with another passenger despite having paid the same price as the proper seats in the back. It was disappointing to say the least.
★★★★☆ Jan 6, 2018 (train #SP2 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways)
★★★☆☆ Jan 5, 2018 (bus VIP Sleeper 41, Grouptour) :
Comfortable for a bus. Clean. Please confirm pick up location as this changed! We almost missed our bus due to this. It seems they leave straight from the bus station and not as indicated by 12Go. We were dropped off in Hanoi at a random spot where taxi drivers asked as VND 200 000 for a trip. We used Uber and paid VND 18 000!!!! Buy a sim card when arriving in Vietnam. Uber is extremely cheap in Hanoi.
12Go response:

Thank you for informing us of this issue, we had not been alerted to any changes by this operator and will look into the matter. Best of luck on the rest of your travels.

★★★★★ Dec 22, 2017 (train #SP2 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways) :
Everything was just time. Recommend!
★★☆☆☆ Dec 21, 2017 (van VIP, Grouptour) :
Driver was a bit over speeding and beep sound was constant during the trip due to speed limit control of the van. Driver and bumpy road combination made us jump from our sits several times. Would not recommend this company
★★☆☆☆ Dec 20, 2017 (train #SP2 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways) :
Bought first class beds but they were rock solid, staff sat in room next to ours and kept talking loudly all night, they left the door open so it kept rolling open and shut as the train moved. SP1 that we were on previously was a great sleeper train, SP2 from Lao Cai to Hanoi was an awful experience. The only good thing about it was that it was on time.
★★★★☆ Dec 18, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper 4x, Chapa Express) :
Comforter/quilt was quite short. Coach construction/design was better on journey the other way on Kings Express.
★★★★★ Dec 16, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways) :
It was perfect! The beds were very comfortable, and room was clean! They don't have fancy table lamps etc others expensive cabins put on, which you don't need at all, and it takes the space on the table which you need for other things! They gave water as well :) There are 2 toilets at each end of the coach. They were both clean and working perfectly. No need to pay double or triple for others at all.

Great option. literally the same experience as all the others, but you buy any concessions a la carte. Less than half the price. 12go.asia was great at ticketing this trip within hours -- and they got us two bottom berths, which are ideal. :)

Take motion sickness pills and you'll have a wonderful sleep
★★★☆☆ Nov 22, 2017 (bus VIP Sleeper 41, Grouptour) :
We were requested to transfer to another building for the bus, though I understand it since the bus is quite big and it will block the entire street when parked based on the original pick-up location. It didn’t stop for toilet breaks. Seats need to be refurbished.
★★★★★ Nov 20, 2017 (train #SP2 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways)
★★★★★ Nov 18, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways) :
Great value but don’t expect it to be smooth!
★★★★★ Nov 17, 2017 (bus VIP, Sapa Express) :
Comfy seats, complimentary water and snacks and helpful staff. Safe driver and a comfortable journey. Staff also helped us get to our hotel on arrival which was much appreciated.
★★☆☆☆ Nov 16, 2017 (van VIP, Grouptour) :
Had to sit in the front seat squashed against another passenger yet paid the same price as the luxury seats in the rest of the bus. Driver stopped an unecessary amount of times for a not so long journey, and unnecessarily beeped (sometimes whilst no cars around) which meant no one could sleep
★★★★★ Nov 8, 2017 (bus VIP, Sapa Express) :
Good
★★★★☆ Nov 7, 2017 (train #SP2 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways)
★★★★☆ Nov 7, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper, King Express) :
We were impressed, very good service
★★★★☆ Nov 5, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways) :
Reasonably clean facilities, would use the service again.
★★★☆☆ Oct 29, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper 4x, Chapa Express) :
Much more comfortable on the Chapa train than Livitrans - the mattress was much softer which helped on the very bumpy and noisy train and the aircon was not freezing. But I had very specifically booked a lower berth as I cannot climb and was given a top berth. However the train staff managed to find me another cabin. Otherwise a good service.
★★☆☆☆ Oct 25, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways) :
No water or anything available. Air conditioning all night long really high
★★★★☆ Oct 23, 2017 (van VIP, Grouptour) :
It was a comfortable journey. Ride was a bit bumpy and driver drove a little bit fast, but got to our destination safely
★★★★☆ Oct 16, 2017 (bus VIP Sleeper 41, Grouptour) :
Ride was OK but confusing about where we were supposed to get off bus in Hanoi. The drop off points should be made clear during booking or on the tickets.
★★☆☆☆ Oct 16, 2017 (bus VIP Sleeper 41, Grouptour)
★★☆☆☆ Oct 14, 2017 (bus VIP Sleeper 41, Grouptour) :
Firstly, the boarding point location was wrong on the voucher, then we moved to another agency and wait there. The bus never stopped for the toilet and although on the voucher was stated we could stay on the bus until 6am, they force everybody to leave the bus at 3...
★★★★★ Oct 6, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways) :
Everything smooth once again. Comfortable journey, slept better than on the way to Sapa few days before.
★★☆☆☆ Sep 29, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper 4x, Sapaly Express)
★★★★★ Sep 27, 2017 (train #SP2 VIP Sleeper 4x, Orient Express)
★★★★★ Sep 26, 2017 (train #SP2 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways) :
Comfortable ... train very punctual
★★★☆☆ Sep 23, 2017 (train #SP2 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways) :
Cabin was fine. Toilet wasn't that nice and clean. Smoking on train not so nice.
★★★★★ Sep 22, 2017 (bus VIP, Sapa Express)
★★☆☆☆ Sep 21, 2017 (train #SP2 VIP Sleeper 4x, Fanxipan) :
Fanxipan is in no way equal to Sapalay express. The bed was very hard, we did not sleep, and there were multiple cockroaches in the car. The train leaves and arrives way too early, with nothing open in Hanoi and riders left to wander the streets in the dark to hopefully wait in a lobby somewhere. Overall the Sapa train experience was miserable and poorly run.

Nice train compacte to other trips we made by nighttrain. Airco not too cold, complimentary water and cookies, Goes on time. Beds bit hard
★★★★☆ Aug 24, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper 4x, Chapa Express) :
Dome minor complaints like temperature changing through the night, but generally speaking a good experience.
★★☆☆☆ Aug 23, 2017 (bus VIP Sleeper 41, Grouptour) :
We book with this company and we did not arrive at sapa ssb but somewhere else. On the way back we went where they left us. But that wasn t the right place. Don t be on time. Go there in advance because is never clear where you can get on and off.
★★★☆☆ Aug 23, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways) :
Although the mattresses were comfortable enough, the train ride itself was extremely bumpy, with none of our group of 4 getting much sleep. There were some bugs on the beds as well, biting us during the night.

★★★★☆ Aug 15, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways)
★★★☆☆ Aug 12, 2017 (van VIP, Grouptour) :
It was a 7 seater, but finally with 10 people. Driver wasn't a save driver. There are better and cheaper alternatives to travel.
★★★★★ Aug 12, 2017 (bus VIP, Sapa Express) :
A great way to travel to/from Sapa. No problems, friendly staff, big clean bus with comfy seats. They even give you water and snacks. Safe driver and two stops one about an hour in for 15 mins and another about an hour before finish for 30 minutes not really necessary as food not that good. That was 3.45pm bus from Sapa to Hanoi.
★★★★★ Aug 11, 2017 (van VIP, Grouptour) :
Nice seats, good airco, on time, pleasent driving. From Sapa to our hotel in Hanoi. We would do it again!

★★☆☆☆ Aug 4, 2017 (bus VIP Sleeper 41, Grouptour) :
Guests have to tell the bus operator in advance where they're planning to head towards. Friendly people who try their best to understand what I'm trying to say!
★★☆☆☆ Aug 1, 2017 (bus VIP, Sapa Express) :
It was raining an thundering like hell at a certain moment. But the driver didn't adjust his speed. He was at that moment the fastest driver of the highway and that'a not a complement. My girlfriend was scared as hell and other passengers as well

★★☆☆☆ Apr 16, 2017 (van VIP, Grouptour) :
90 minutes late, no ticket office as stated on the booking form - caused a lot of confusion. Took over an hour to get through to one of the sleepy individuals on the end of the two telephone numbers. They were of little help. One said they would be 15 minutes and extended this a number of time before we finally got picked up - no apology or explanation provided. In fact, the driver denied he was late when I questioned him ("no, no no" where his words). Driver was erratic and clearly not qualified to drive the vehicle. During a break he said it would be 30 minutes - after 30 minutes we were all back at the bus and he was again 20 minutes late. He would not answer his phone during this time. We left Hanoi at 8.00 when it should have been 6.30 and due to the drivers extended break and lack of punctuality we arrived in Sapa at 2.30 instead of the 12.30 stated on the booking form and website. We took a completely different bus home despite booking a return with this company. They can not be trusted.
12Go response:

Thank you for informing us of the problem with your trip to Sapa. It's quite unusual (all other passengers have given them 5 star reviews) and we have spoken with Sapa Shuttle Bus about removing this driver from the route.

We really wish that you had informed us that you were not going to travel with Sapa Shuttle on the return trip as we could have refunded your ticket at no cost.

★★★☆☆ Feb 15, 2017 (train #SP2 VIP Sleeper 4x, Livitrans Express) :
Linens and cabin were clean and overall everything was ok with the actual train ride. Much better than the standard VN railways cabin. However a lot of confusion while attempting to board with only a voucher. A LOT. Basically the staff wasn't letting us on the train because we did not have printed tickets. We were asked to step aside and wait. My wife and I started to get very worried because none of the staff knew what to do with us until last minute someone came running with our tickets. No sure what exactly transpired, but we were only then were we allowed to board.

★★★☆☆ Feb 2, 2017 (train #SP2 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways) :
We were booked on the 2 lower berths of a 1st class sleeper supposed to be for 4 people. A family of 4, with children aged approx 12 & 14 came to join us in the 2 upper berths of the sleeper. We didn't know how they were going to fit and we objected to being 6 people having paid more to be in a compartment with only 4 people. We complained to the guard and he managed to arrange something so that we were only 4 people after all. I don't know the policy about travelling with children, but nothing I had read told me that we could have this situation. It was not pleasant to complain, but at least there was a resolution . other than this all was good, but we did see 2 small cockroaches in the compartment which is not hygienic.

★★★★☆ Jan 30, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper 4x, Sapaly Express) :
The cabins were decently clean and comfortable. They could probably use some pest control though as we came across three cockroaches in our cabin..can't imagine the ones we couldn't see once the lights were off. Toilet cleanliness needs a lot of work, definitely the biggest downside of the whole experience. Regular check ups/cleans and an upgrade would make it worth the 'VIP' status
★★★★★ Jan 25, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways) :
The beds and cabin were really clean and comfortable. The booking process was very easy and all went smoothly
★★★★★ Jan 22, 2017 (train #SP4 VIP Sleeper, Vietnam Railways) :
