Je nach Reisedauer und Ihren Vorlieben können Sie für eine Nachtfahrt ein Ticket der 1. oder 2. Klasse in einem Schlafwagen wählen oder sich für einen harten oder weichen Sitzplatz entscheiden, sofern verfügbar. Beachten Sie, dass die Auswahl der Ticketklassen sowohl von der Strecke als auch von der Reisedauer abhängt. Grundsätzlich kann Ihr Zug zwar über Liegeplätze der ersten Klasse verfügen, Sie können jedoch keinen buchen, wenn Sie nur eine kurze Strecke von zwei Stunden zurücklegen. Im Allgemeinen sind Liegeplätze der zweiten Klasse eine gute Wahl für längere Reisen, und weich gepolsterte Sitze sind ausreichend, wenn Ihre Zugfahrt weniger als 4–5 Stunden dauern soll..

Vorteile von Zugreisen
- Das Beste am Reisen mit der Bahn sind die fehlenden Staus. Selbst zu Stoßzeiten, an langen Wochenenden oder in der Hochsaison
- Ein einfacher Online-Buchungsprozess: Sie müssen nicht zum Bahnhof gehen, wie es vor nicht allzu langer Zeit vielerorts noch der Fall war!
- Die Preise für Bahntickets sind in der Regel günstiger als die für Flugtickets, doch bei bestimmten Zielen und Reisen kann die Gesamtfahrzeit fast gleich ausfallen
- Zwar ist das Reisen mit der Bahn langsamer als mit dem Flugzeug, doch liegen Bahnhöfe oft im Stadtzentrum, was Ihnen viel Zeit bei der An- und Abreise spart, während Flughäfen fast immer ziemlich weit außerhalb der Stadt liegen
- Wenn Sie nachts reisen, sparen Sie sich die Kosten für ein Hotelzimmer und können gleichzeitig gut schlafen. Im Gegensatz dazu ist selbst die Schlafwagenklasse in einem Nachtbus ein großer Kompromiss
- Auf manchen Strecken wird ein Luxus-Service angeboten.
Nachteile von Zugreisen
- Bei längeren Reisen ist eine Zugfahrt definitiv zeitaufwendiger als eine Flugreise.
- Züge fahren zwar nach Fahrplan, doch Verspätungen sind im Zugverkehr keine Seltenheit. Diese können zudem erheblich sein. Wenn Sie also einen Anschlussflug planen, sollten Sie die Ankunftszeit Ihres Zuges am Bahnhof genau prüfen und es sich gut überlegen.
- Bei Fahrkarten zweiter und dritter Klasse sowie bei den Toiletten gibt es manchmal Probleme mit der Sauberkeit.
- Wenn Ihr Zug viele Zwischenstopps einlegt, ist es in manchen Fällen schwierig herauszufinden, wann man aussteigen muss. Die Haltestellen werden nicht immer deutlich angekündigt oder gekennzeichnet, es sei denn, es gibt eine elektronische Anzeigetafel.

Aysin EDas Zug Ticket wurde erst einen Tag vor der Reise zugesendet, nachdem ich nachgefragt hatte wo es bleibt. Und ich konnte nicht auswählen, ob ich einen Sitzplatz oder einen Liegeplatz möchte. Ich musste ein Liegeplatz nehmen!

Birgit ZIch kann jedem nur empfehlen den Zug zu nehmen, ist vielleicht etwas teurer, aber viel komfortabler! Man kann auch mal aufstehen und sich bewegen. Eine Toilette ist jederzeit verfügbar.Es werden Speisen und Getränke angeboten. Man kann die Fahrt und Aussicht genießen!
Und deshalb tagsüber bloß nicht irgendwelche Schlafabteile/Betten buchen !!!
Wir sind tagsüber von Dong Hoi nach Nihn Bihn gefahren.
Waren zwar 8,5 Stnden, aber sowas von kurzweilig
Deshalb absolut zu empfehlen !!!

Thomas GWir hatten einen Platz im Liegewagen, der deutlich komfortabler war als der Platz auf dem "Softsitz", den für für eine andere Sitzung gebucht hatten. Der Zug war absolut pünktlich und die Strecke über den Wolkenpass wunderschön.

Christian RWartebereich am Bahnhof sehr voll, Zug hatte über eine halbe Stunde Verspätung, Einsteigen übers Gleis mit Koffern schwierig, Personal hat sich beim Einsteigen gestritten, Zug alt, Fenster nicht sauber, Zug sehr voll. Ich konnte für 5 Personen nicht auf einmal buchen, deshalb zwei Buchungen. Die Plätze waren in einem Waggon verteilt. Bestätigung sehr spät und erst auf Anfrage. Auf unseren Plätzen saßen bereits andere Leute. Kommunikation mit Gästen und Personal schwierig. Aussicht am Wolkenpass auch wegen starkem Regen getrübt.

Sarah BWar ok. Ich konnte nicht schlafen, weils mir einfach zu laut war, aber wenn man mit den Geräuschen klar kommt ist es völlig in Ordnung. Ich würde empfehlen direkt zu Beginn zu schlafen, da es ab 6Uhr immer lauter wird im Zug. Wir sind 20min zu spät los, aber 1,5 Stunden vorher angekommen, also das aufjedenfall beachten!

Have 3 unplaned Stops too let other trains passed .The planed Stop was in a smal town with absolut nothing to See .It start 14:30 and arived in Da Nang at 19:00 in the DARK.

Linda MThe train was very comfortable and the scenery was great - try to be on the left side of the train (views down the cliff face) and not right at the front or back (no overhead storage). We didn’t see an option to pick seats when booking , but we didn’t really look. Drinks and food are available for purchase. Overall a great experience.

Cynthia Mand if you’ve never taken a train in Vietnam before, the entire process can be extremely confusing—from booking to actually traveling.
When I booked, I didn’t fully understand the seating and cabin setup. I selected what was labeled as a first-class sleeper, but it ended up being a four-berth cabin, which felt more like a lower-class sleeper. There was no option to choose specific beds, and we were assigned the top bunks. With extra luggage and very limited storage space, I had no choice but to sleep with my luggage at my feet. The bed itself was already hard and uncomfortable, and this made it worse.
There’s also no real dining area. You eat in your cabin, whether you want to or not, which I didn’t realize beforehand. Staff walk through the cabins opening doors to sell food, even if you’re sleeping. Communication was another major issue—the staff spoke no English, so it was stressful not knowing when our stop was coming up. You really have to pay close attention to station announcements and timing on your own.
If I were to do this again, I would only book a four-berth sleeper for private use so the entire cabin is yours. Otherwise, it’s not a comfortable experience, especially with luggage. If you do decide to book, pack light and be prepared for very limited guidance and comfort.
Overall, it’s functional transportation, but far from user-friendly for first-time or international travelers.

Corina TThe carriage was dirty, and the people made a lot of noise and it was almost impossible to get any sleep. We were delayed by 1 hour and 20 minutes. Definitely not worth the money for the lack of comfort and punctuality, better go by bus it's also cheaper.

Fred BI thought I had booked a private 2 berth first class sleeper compartment. When I boarded the train I was shown to the correct coach Number (8) and the seats numbers on my tickets (1 &2) but it was a 4 berth couchette. I tried explained to the train attendant, he just shrugged and pointed to the ticket. Not what I expected. Then at 06:00 the train attendant came and told us we all had to get off and join a fleet of buses because of flooding.
We had to scramble to get all our bags etc together as we were being rushed by the train staff. We then had a 4 hour journey with no stops no water until rejoining another train further along the line. From what was being discussed it appeared this was preplanned. Had I been informed earlier I would have opted to fly instead. I honestly feel let down, which is a shame as I have had good service with your company in the past.

Shannon JThis was our first train experience in Vietnam. We had a first class, 4 bunk cabin, and thankfully only 2 passengers. The bunks were a bit hard, with a pillow and thin blanket. The train was slow and stopped 2 hours in to our journey due to severe weather. We decided to abort the journey at that point and headed to the nearest airport.

Masja KFree pick up from hostel was nice. The first leg was with a mini-van however was packed with locals, so no personal space or comfort. The transition with tuktuk in Phnom Penn was very well organised. Second leg was with comfortable touring car bus, no wifi.
