The price of your bus trip will depend both on the destination and the class of your ticket. Note that not all ticket classes are available on certain routes yet for longer trips there is almost always a good choice of options. Opt for a sleeper coach for the most convenient overnight trip. Sleeper buses are usually equipped with berths or soft reclining seats, feature an onboard toilet and your ticket may also include other perks like snacks or even a lunch. Taking a night bus is also a good idea if you want to save on your hotel room. During the day an express service is often the best value for money as it makes less stops than an ordinary or standard class bus and travels faster. On some routes it may be crucial to choose the right class as, say, an ordinary or second class bus may need some 6 hours to cover the distance the first class or express bus travels in two hours!

Cons of Bus Travel

Intercity bus terminals can be located outside the city centre in the outskirts. It means you will need to calculate extra time and money to get there. In certain destinations getting from the bus terminal can cost you more than you would expect because only a limited number of transportation companies is allowed to serve the route – and prices may be inflated.

During busy weekends or high season buses serving some tourist destinations may run out of schedule and require advanced booking.

While buses are not as weather dependent as ferries, bus trips can also be delayed or cancelled due to bad weather or road conditions – keep it in mind if travelling during certain seasons or to certain destinations.

The location for pickup was incorrect - old location, we were lucky our Grab driver knew where to go. The driver speaks loudly the whole way! He hoots constantly, mostly for no reason, overtakes a car/truck/bus/bike every opportunity he gets, even when unsafe. Someone's water bottle leaked on the floor and drenched my entire bag, this is obviously not the bus company's fault, accidents happen, but water was still running on the floor so I told the bus assistant. Instead of finding the source of the leak, he said sorry and handed me tissues. This was not a VIP experience at all, it was impossible to sleep over the bus drivers loud voice and constant hooting. I do not recommended this tour company, however, if you have no other choice, sit in the back of the bus as far away from the driver as possible and make sure you have some soundproof headphones. Bus arrived 30min early and was on time for pickup, hence 2 stars.

Very comfortable journey and a great experience overall. The staff were friendly and helpful, explained everything and guided us through the border. Everything went smoothly, we departed on time, and the trip was very well organized. Food, drinks and coffee were provided during the journey, which was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend!
P.S. The only small issue was that it was quite cold inside due to the air conditioning. Blankets would be a nice addition for passengers who get cold.

Very comfortable bus.
The bus station at Battambang was quiet, clean, air conditioned and well organised.
Lunch stop was good, I had excellent value fried noodles.
Arrived in Phnom Peng well on time.

The bus trip time seems a lie, was 3h30 advertised but that seems impossible.
Plus the bus had an hour delay, we were not allowed to take an earlier bus with plenty of space. Arrived almost 2 hours late in phnom penh.

Vet is becoming my preferred bus from HCMC to PP.
The added snacks and coffee on the bus + their help at the border if customs get "tricky" has made me decide I'll likely keep using these guys form comfort on this long journey.

Had a great experience on the bus given complimentary water, croissant and a cup of coffee. The crew were friendly and helpful and spoke good english.
The bus was clean and modern with screens on the back of each seat with a USB port for charging. We were in Phnom Penh more or less on time.

was a bit delayed by an hour, not the fault of the operator but one of the lads on the bus couldnt get through the border due to a soon expiring passport, situation was a bit vague and unclear as nothing was explained and the bus they initially drove off without him while his friends were still on the bus. Seemed to get sorted eventually and was otherwise smooth sailing. otherwise was fine and came with warm drinks, food, and water. toilets were nicer than any we've had in asia in the last 6 weeks and seats were super comfy

Actual starting point was somewhere else than on the information pdf. Wasted money on a tuktuk to the wrong starting point.
Bus arrived almost 4 hours late to the destination.

Excellent transport Battambang to Phnom Penh in 21 seater bus. Luxurious, two drivers, one hostess, snack bag with bun & water. One stop of approx 25 minutes where food was available, v clean. Bus left late as waited for 2 passengers to arrive, but we still arrived in PP on time. We had 2 seats in row 1. Highly recommend. Easy to get a Grab at PP arrival station.

The bus was not the same as in the booking confirmation but it was just as good. Comfortable seats, toilet on board, attentive staff. We received snacks and lunch during the way. We arrived to our final destination 30 mins earlier. Can not complain. Can recommend it.

We had a 1st class trip from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh. It was a great price, comfortable adjustable seats, air con, snacks and a 20min stop. Although I slept a bit of the way it was really scenic serving through villages of Cambodia, would definitely recommend.

This was by far the best bus service I have ever received. Everything is easy, smooth, and professional. The staff are SUPER KIND and HELPFUL. The whole journey looks like a flight but on a bus. You will have meals as well. They took extra care for me and waited for me at the border since I was traveling with a weak passport. 100% worth the price for their service c. Thank you so much

It was a very comfortable ride. The staff were very helpful and gave instructions in English as well as Khmer. They even provided lunch, which was included. The bus was also very modern, so you could charge your devices. And, they had free WiFi.

Good organization. Smooth ride. Good drivers. Even some food was given. We could chose different dishes. The only critique: the woman, who served us, was very unfriendly, to me at least. She doesn't understand what customer satisfaction means and how important it is, to a company providing a customer based service.

Excellent service from viet air bus : comfortable seats, water, croissant, milk, entertainment service, wifi (not so reliable throughout the journey but hey it's better than nothing).
Siem Reap to Phnom Penh is long but viet air bus provides very decent conditions of travel.

I read a review that said the bus took 4 hrs instead of 3 and that's exactly what happened to me. Just adjust the scheduled time if that's consistently the case.

Comfortable bus, great service, very nice/kind driver and hostess. However, there were two main issues with the operating office. My bus from Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh was scheduled for 15:45. I went two days ago to the VET office in Ho Chi Minh City to check the ticket and departure point to ensure everything was as planned. All was confirmed. On the day of travel, I arrived at the departure point at 15:00 (45 minutes early). The office staff were panicked and hurried, immediately telling me that my bus was on the main road and leaving now at 15:00; the time had changed! Excuse me? I was so lucky I arrived 45 min early, or I would have missed my bus for no reason! I RAN to the road and managed to board the bus at the last minute! It really departed after I got on. I was lucky, but this is actually a serious problem. The second issue is that I am a solo traveller; I specifically chose a bus with a single seat. I reserved seat 1A. When I arrived at the office, they also changed my seat to a two-seater in the last minute. These small (!) issues are annoying, but otherwise everything was great!

The instructions for the pick up point weren’t clear so we ended up going to the wrong place. The bus actually left at 2:45 instead of 2:15. The free water and biscuits were nice

We left on time, arrived on time. The organisation is transparent and they answer your questions. Comfortable seats. Free snacks and water. We even had screens and we watched a movie during the travel. One of the best travel experience I had in Asia and Europe.

The best bus service I’ve experienced in Southeast Asia so far. It was very comfortable, the AC was great, and they even gave us free coffee/tea and a small breakfast. You can even watch movies on the screen in front of your chair. The transfer to the boat that takes you to Don Det was also efficient and the service in general was on time.

Could not understand 1st hostess via the speakers. Only received 1 mini bottle water, 1 mini Milk and 4 cookies and a coffee for the 6 hour trip. 2nd hostess was invisible. 2nd driver very agressive in traffic, hit the car horn every 30 seconds

We has a dic-hour-trip: due ing the first 2 hours the air condition did not work well, that is why we feel not confortable. The wi fi dis not work good too. It is not worth the price

Bus was over an hour late to arrive due to air conditioning issues so we were well behind schedule. But the bus itself was fine. Comfortable pre allocated seats , air conditioning that worked,and driver was experienced. So a generally very good experience apart from fact we ended up quite late.
