I rate my experience as great because it was a true adventure taking an overnight train in Kazakhstan. It wasn't something that I will miss however its interesting to see how Kazakhstan trains and the locals operates or travel within the train network.

The cabins were tidy and comfortable, and the crew were friendly. We did have a bit of trouble cobbling together enough cash to pay our bar and food tab as it was all paid at the end of the night, so we weren't keeping track of our bill, but also they insisted that there was no eftpos. We managed, but it would have been a much easier process for everyone had we known that and been more aware of our spending. Needless to say, we did have a good time during our visit to the bar and restaurant. 🤣 And the staff was very patient.

there was a delay (~ 30 minutes) but in general everything was good - quite comfortable way to go from Pavlodar to Astana.

Compared to the trains in England this first class cabin was the best train journey I’ve ever taken. Air con, private room with plugs, a bed and a sink to freshen up and clean. The train conductor was helpful and there was a dining car for a beer and some snacks. 10/10
