En règle générale, il n'est pas possible de choisir une classe de billets lorsqu'on voyage en van. - Les vans peuvent généralement vous conduire à des destinations où ni les bus ni les trains ne circulent, notamment des villes secondaires et des petits villages.
- La plupart du temps, les vans sont le moyen le plus rapide d'atteindre votre destination si vous voyagez sur des distances relativement courtes par voie terrestre, simplement parce qu'ils sont plus petits et plus maniables que les bus.
- Les vans peuvent vous permettre de descendre à un endroit plus pratique pour vous en cours de route, pas nécessairement au terminus, ce qui peut vous faire gagner beaucoup de temps et d'argent dans certains cas.
Inconvénients du Voyage en Van
- Vous pouvez vous sentir plutôt à l’étroit dans certains vans, avec un espace disponible limité pour les bagages. En fait, presque tous les vans offrent un espace limité pour les bagages, donc si vous avez plus d'un sac, valise ou sac à dos, il peut être judicieux d'acheter un billet supplémentaire pour vos bagages - oui, hélas, vous payerez double pour votre voyage...
- Il est important de vérifier si votre van part à un horaire précis, ou s'il part quand il est plein. Dans ce dernier cas, vous risquez d'attendre longtemps, car sur certains itinéraires remplir un van peut prendre un certain temps.
- Il faut savoir que les conducteurs de vans sont connus pour leur conduite rapide. Même les compagnies les plus réputées ne parviennent pas toujours à persuader les conducteurs de respecter les limites de vitesse. Même si le chauffeur de votre van ne vous le demande pas, attachez toujours votre ceinture de sécurité lorsque vous voyagez en van.
- Si vous avez facilement le mal des transports, et que votre voyage comporte des tronçons sinueux, le risque d’être malade est plus élevé en van qu'en bus. Prenez vos médicaments une demi-heure avant le départ pour plus de sécurité.

Le personnel me dit qu'il y'a 30min d'attente. Mais finalement, pour repousser à chaque fois, et me dire que le bus arrive dans 10minutes a plusieurs reprises, pour que je le laisse tranquille.
Au final, plus d'une heure et demie de retard...
Lorsque je demande au personnel s'il y a des toilettes derrière le kiosque, on me répond que non et qu'il y a des toilettes dans le bus.
Donc je me retiens d'uriner.
Comme je l'imaginais, a son arrivée, je ne constate pas de toilettes à l'intérieur du véhicule.
Réel manque de considération de la part de personnel...

Le véhicule était très confortable. Le chauffeur est arrivé à l’heure et était très gentil. Il nous a permis de nous arrêter 5 minutes histoire de faire une petite pause avant de reprendre la route. Tous s’est très bien passé, rien à redire.
La compagnie m’a également contactée via WhatsApp afin de se mettre d’accord sur une heure et s’assurer des adresses pour l’itinéraire.

Il y a eu 1 heure de retard nous devions en plus arrivé 15 min à l’avance donc nous sommes arrivé à 7h 45 et le minibus est arrivé à 9h.

Nous sommes partis 15 minutes en retard, mais nous sommes arrivés à Pai à l'heure prévue.
Il y a une pause de 15 minutes au milieu du trajet, et le chauffeur a conduit prudemment.
Si vous avez un grand sac de voyage ou une valise, il y aura un supplément de 100 baths.
Si vous avez juste des petits sacs à dos, pas de supplément.

Bien dans l’ensemble. Les deux place à l’arrière à côté des valises sont plus étroites mais à part ça rien à dire. Il font une pause entre chiang mai et Pai.

Got told to be in the street at 9:30 as pick up was at 10 but the van didn't arrive untill 11:00. Would have rather been called so I didn't have to sit on the street for 1.5 hours.
Aircon was not working and bus was hot but otherwise it was fine and comfortable to travel with and we had a break to have lunch.

The staff and the driver are all doing their best and being patient. The only problem is the vehicle is fully sitted and crowded with luggages. I suggest that passengers to open all the windows so you won't feel so hot and can't breathe.
They have free toilets on the road and in the service center. By the way, I like the coconut selling in the rest stop ~ feeling refreshed from the long drive.
If you are someone not hurry in time and willing to gather at the bus stop, you can try the bus. I took the bus to Pai and didn't feel dizzy. But I choose the Aya vehicle back because it can take me to the Thapae gate.

Minivan was supposed to pick us up from our hotel at 12, to leave Chiang Mai at 12:30. They arrived 12:50 without notice. We whatsapped to confirm they were still coming but lady on the phone didn’t know where they were exactly and told us to wait. We were the last ones and had the seats in the back with small leg room, that was very uncomfortable for tall people. Journey was ok and we stopped in the middle. Arrived past 4pm to Pai.

We should be at the pickup point 30 minutes earlier (pickup at 9:00) so 8:30 at pickup point, but driver came at 10:00...luckily she drove very carefully, thats pro, -1 star for waiting, -1 star for comfort im vehicle (we are 190cm) and there was only small space for the legs. Price was very fafordable.

We left with a 30 min delay. Backpacks very badly put on the van. There were a few more than ours, probably they were transporting them to Chiang Mai, but the driver at a certain point jumped on one to make sure it suited where he wanted to be. What if there was somwthing fragile in there? The experience on the van was quite bad, not to mention how he drove.

We found the pickup location easily and checked in totally fine. Service was on time and the driver was speedy but safe. We made a stop halfway for the toilet, drinks and snacks. I think we were a little late arriving but that was jut traffic arriving into Chiang Mai at rush hour, so keep that in mind when booking at particular times and if you’re coming into a busy city. The van was old but comfortable enough for the journey, a newer van would be nice to offer on these services.

Let’s start with that we arrived at destination (Chiang Rai bus terminal) 1 hr 45 min late vs. scheduled. This is because: van was 1/2 hr late for pickup and we made 4 stops totaling 1 hr 40 min vs. scheduled 1 stop of 20 min. Zero organization, no concept of time at all! To top it off they sent an email that you should be ready for pickup 50 min prior to scheduled time. So, I waited 1 hr 20 min in hotel lobby.

Because our hotel was far away of the starting point we had to book another taxi to this place. Trying to contact them in person was not possible because it was to crowded with people in their office. Most of them were renting a motorcycle which takes a long time.

Driver made everything nice and easy, definitely a windy road but driver tries their best to straight line some of the windy bits when there’s no other traffic making the drive a bit more tolerable. Van is comfy, air conditioned and not completely rammed. Place for bags on the back and under seats. Would definitely use AYA again !

Organisers in the reception were rude and unhelpful, I was charged 100baht for a medium suitcase even though other passengers had much bigger and heavier backpacks, agreed drop off location in chiang mai was not adhered to and messed up my connecting transport

Driver drove like crazy. Always overtook in sharp curves with almost zero visibility. But we arrived on time and made it in one piece back to Chiang Mai.

It's a bumpy ride, so this time I took medicine before and it went better. Driver was fine, although I do not favour telephoning all the time. Halfway a stop is a life saver. Thanks!
