Don Mueang to Chiang Mai Destination Reviews

S
Good, comfortable ride with AC. I was a bit worried because I read somewhere to only get a first class ticket, but the day train only has second or Coach class, but it was actually very comfortable. Bring your own food!

The Don Mueang train station was not well specified so we went to the old one instead of the new one that is on the airport side. Fortunately another kindly tourist informed us about the situation and we didn't loose the train.

I felt sick the whole time because the train shaked a lot. Even the day after I stayed dizzy because of that.

On time, pretty comfy and did the job. One good stop which is included in your ticket (although it looked like it had been sitting there for a while so didn’t risk it)

Massive station. Only 1 information desk. Loads of good stalls. Immaculate station. Train kept immaculate throughout the 12hr trip
Don Mueang to Chiang Mai, Train #9 2nd Class Sleeper AC, Thai Railway (การรถไฟแห่งประเทศไทย), Jul 9, 2025
Even if you book a specific seat, they just changed it randomly. The bus is really old and uncomfortable. If anyone reclines their seat, the row behind has almost no space at all left. The charging outlets don't work (looks more like fire hazard with cables hanging around). Getting in and out the toilet was difficult (you can't lock the door even and to flush there is just bucket with water) It was perfectly on time and you get simple burger from McDonald's
