Malindo Air Launches Direct Borneo–Hainan Flights

Malindo Air, a full service airline from Malaysia, owned by Lion Air Group from Indonesia and based in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia, launched direct flights between Kuching and Haikou on January, 17. 

Kuching is located on the island of Borneo and is the capital and the largest city of the Sarawak state in Malaysia. It is also one of the most popular tourist destinations in Sarawak with great sightseeing opportunities within the city. It is also a convenient base for exploring Borneo and jungle trekking. 

Haikou, the Chinese capital of Hainan, is the most populous city of the province. It is a tropical coastal city which is basically the main transport hub for reaching more attractive destinations in the north of Hainan.

There are now two weekly scheduled flights between Kuching and Haikou, one on Monday and one on Thursday. From Kuching, flights depart at 10.35 pm and arrive to Haikou at 2.15 am. In the opposite direction, flights leave Haikou Meilan Internatioanl Airport at 3.15 am and reach Kuching International Airport at 7.20 am. The flying time is about 4 hours. There is no time difference between kuching and Haikou.
