To sell excess supply of the rubber Thai Government together with Transport Ministry had ordered the Department of Highways to learn the feasibility of using more rubber in asphalt mixture. It will raise demand for rubber in the Kingdom and would also increase the durability of road surfaces.

At an early date the Department is going to use 10,000 tonnes of rubber per year to mix it with asphalt, by the way now only 1,200 tonnes per year are used in this industry.

According the Transport Minister, he is also considering possibility to use the excess supply of the rubber in the construction of railway sleepers, taking to account the new railway projects slated for the near future.
