If you ignore the rough tracks the train is driving on, it’s perfect. But thats everywhere the same. With a sleeping pill the time flies. Everything was good, other companies have nicer wagons, but it was clean and we got small bags with bananas and water. So all in all it’s good to travel with.

The 4 berth on Livi is not as good as the 2 berth on Vietnam rail. Random people come in and out for different stops and the cabin door is a bit loose rattling on every move. The Livi operator just came and disappeared. No wifi available

Nothing like VIP … the place is just basic, not clean. The staff at the station was not aware of this kind of reservation. After 15 minutes and calling someone they gave me a ticket with a different coach number … don’t expect much… if you want a VIP treatment, book a premium car not the train!

The service was fine although navigating the stations was an interesting experience. The sleeping couches were not comfortable - very very thin mattress.

Bathrooms were disgusting, my cabin was nice and clean, but one woman was complaining of roaches in hers. It was an ok experience. Train was bumpy so was unable to get a good nights rest, but it could have been worse.

Very nice trip. The beds and room were tidy, blankets adequate. Nice free snacks and drinks.. Star of the trip was the scenery- Amazing. Toilet wasn't too scary by the journeys end. Hardest part was the confusion of checkin at Hanoi Train Station. But this was worked out by us and the rest was easy.

We were not put in a livitrains carriage at all, just a normal one. We did not receive any free snacks or bottled water like promised. It was quite dirty but the sheets and pillow seems clean enough to sleep on at least. Bottom bunk was slightly cool, the people on the top bunks froze due to the air con being blasted. No toilet paper in the toilet so bring your own!

Vse probehlo v poradku, ciste pokoje, povleceni i zachody. Po zaplaceni vam prijde na mail voucher, ktery musite vymenit na nadrazi za listky na vlak. Ty vymenite v druhe nadrazni budove na ulici Tran Quy Cap. Staci ukazat voucher a oni vas nasmeruji k panovi, ktery vam preda listky. Nechodte do hlavni budovy nadrazi na ulici Le Duan, stejne vas poslou na vyse zminene nastupiste.
Everything was clean and OK. You can exchange your ticket voucher into train tickets at “Tran Quy Cap” street. Do not waste your time to go to the main train station hall at Le Duan street ;)

We presented the voucher at the desk and were given boarding passes no problem for our family of six. They looked after our bags for a small fee while we looked around Nha Trang as we had come from Da Lat. We had a compartment with four beds and another for that two of us had to ourselves. Yes the toilets were pretty average and there were a few little cockroaches but staff were so nice with the kids and it is an adventure not the Hilton so enjoy what was a great overnight to Da Nang for our family.

This train wasn’t as good as HCM to Nha Trang. But we did sleep well although it was about 2.5 hours late getting into Danang. (This actually suited us as we arrived at a more convenient time!)

Overall the trip was fine, however we found several cockroaches in the room that we had to kill. We suggest to keep warm clothes since the air conditioning is pretty strong and an anti-bug!

It was more or less as expected and the journey went quite smoothy. The bedding wasn't the best but was adequate and the toilet was reasonably clean. Room got very cold throughout the night due to air con so wrap up well!

Excellent staff, facilities as stated, beds are hard, sheet bag and cover provided, not keen on hot breakfast.

When we got on the train we thought it was great and better than we expected. The cabin was clean and we had room to store our bags. It was also nicely air conditioned but they turned it off a few hours into the trip. It was like a sauna. The bathroom stunk so bad we placed a cloth over our noses to go in. It wasn't filthy but they stored a dirty smelly mop in the bathroom. It hung on the door and when we complained that this was causing the smell the person didn't seem to understand.
The other thing to improve is the voucher. It didn't have the right cabin on it and people working for the company acted like they had not seen the voucher before. They finally called someone and gave me the right cabin number. If I hadn't asked when we arrived at the station I would have gone to the wrong car number.
The food was good and there was a few staff that tried to be helpful. Maybe we were expecting too much from government workers but everyone else we meet in Hoi An was just so lovely we expected the same service.
Anyways we survived and got a little sleep and got where we needed to go.

Cabins couldn’t fault. Noted the staff only refolded duvet and not washed. Toilet overflowing with urine and not flushing properly. One particular male staff member made myself and partner feel uncomfortable before the train took off. Again, cabins were faultless, very happy with this. Drinks on arrival and working charging ports, comfortable beds.

Generally satisfactory but needed better direction to carriage and cabin. Please get rid of non train staff from hassling us with our baggage on the platform and wanting payment for directing us to our carriage. Cabin temperature was just slightly too cool. Would certainly take same train again.

Hanoi to Hue, couldn't sleep due to loudness and shocking of the train. Cockroaches crawling on the wall (was warned of this beforehand though, so no big surprise). Toilet was fine.

Our second trip and as highlighted in earlier reviews some minor confusion when boarding. Our voucher stated train SE2 when we were actually travelling on SE4. Guards speak no English, but fortunately someone came to our help and gave us tickets albeit that they were issued in other people's names. However, all turned out ok. The carriages were swept and cleaning linen and food (pot noodle) and water provided. Best part of the trip from HCMC to Hanoi was the coastal route from Da Nang to Hue. Glad we have done the trip, but probably won't repeat it.

Online booking was simple and we received our voucher promptly. However, upon arrival at Nha Trang railway station- the information desk had no idea what train we were boarding, not even that there was a train at our scheduled departure time. The staff there couldn't have cared less about our booking and were extremely rude. Once we enlisted the help of a very friendly stall holder outside, did they locate our tickets that had been printed already and were waiting for us (as 12goasia had suggested). Make sure you keep asking for the correct train as all announcements will be in Vietnamese. Train itself was lovely: clean, well prepared and comfortable. Sheet, blanket and pillow provided, as well as a charging point for the room. Bathrooms were clean with both western and squat toilets. Separate basins also handy. Free wet-wipe and water provided too. Arrival was spot on at 6:15am.

Even though we originally booked 2 lower births in a cabin. After a couple of stops the guard insisted that I moved to the upper birth to allow a lady to have the lower one. But the upper birth was comfortable once I had managed to get up there. The guard knocked on the door to let us know that our station was next and directed us to our exit.

The Staff are very helpful, my friend and I had the 4x vip sleeper to ourselves which made things a lot more comfortable! We both slept on and off, you kind of get use to the swaying and stopping and starting motion, it’s a little noisy so take ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper

We travelled with Livitrans and on the voucher, there was written that the paper itself is a boarding pass. But the staff did not let us in. Luckily, we asked a lady in the near bistro (she was surprised as we were) and she called someone else who came with our tickets. It was one big chaos! The staff in the trained asked us if we want tea or coffee in the morning, but in the morning, they wanted us to pay for it. For comparison - from Hanoi to Lao Cai, we used Fanxipan Express and the morning refreshment was for free, beds were longer and air condition was fine. Air condition in Livitrans was really cold - people sleeping downstairs had to sleep in jackets and hats!

We had a voucher four four people in a 4 person VIP sleeper. I went to the station the day before to try to get the actual tickets with cabin numbers but was told to return a half an hour before the train. We arrived an hour before and were told to wait and then someone ushered us through to the train with just the voucher. He was a helpful employee with no English but he got us to our cabin. The cabin looked fine but the teenage girls with us were freaked out by three different bugs going up the wall. Air con was nice and cold. It is great to leave from city centre in HCMC and arrive into the city centre of Nha Trang. We didn't see much scenery because we went overnight but previously enjoyed good views on longer routes. The toilets were very basic but functional.

Sleeper car looked absolutely nothing like the pictures and the cabin was clearly much, much older! However, linen was clean, room was also quite clean and had enough space for all the luggage. Air con was ultra high (which was okay for most, but got a bit too cold overnight). Train left and arrived on time. Was expecting (based on previous reviews)horrible toilets, but they were, actually, very normal!

I had a very nice trip on the train. The cabin was very clean and the attention was great. Very comfortable with AC. We left and arrived perfectly on time. Very good experience!

VIP x 4 sleeper was not as expected. Reasonably clean however loads of bugs everywhere including small cockroaches. 2 free bottles of water but no snacks. Mixed male and female and train ran almost an hour late. My standards were never high to begin with but this was slightly lower than expected. Also train does not just stop at Da Nang but multiple stops. Ensure to ask when you are arriving at your destination and set an alarm to wake you up around that time. It would be easy to miss your stop.

Not sure if the fault here lies with 12goasia or livitrans. As per many other reviews on tripadvisor this did not seem to be a livitrans service but a standard vnr train. Whilst I’m not bothered by this and the train was fine it was not as advertised and the communication about how to pick up tickets was awful. Just so people know you exchange the voucher at the desk in Da Nang station for your tickets...

As with other reviews, there was no Livitrans ticket place at HCMC. We had to ask platform staff for help. Carriage nothing like pictures and no different from standard despite paying extra. Small bottle of water and a face wipe was all that was provided. AC worked. Bring earplugs!

Journey was pleasant and train ran roughly to time. The only issue was boarding the train. Despite our printout from 12go stating go straight to coach 11 and the staff at the Livitrans desk in Hue station also saying go straight to train, we were nearly refused boarding due to the on board staff not understanding our ticket. We were allowed on and after around 10minutes the Livitrans rep on board ushered us to coach 9 and gave us our actual ticket. This actual ticket did not match the berth we were in or our passport numbers

The train ride was typical, the compartment we were in had A/C and if you kept the door shut you could keep out the cigarette smoke smell, however it was infested with small cockroaches. If you have the option to take a sleeper bus instead I highly recommend that route.

Compartment was simple but had sheets and covers, complimentary soft drinks and some biscuits. We boarded at Dong Hoi ( not Hue) but that went smoothly. Thanks GoAsia you have been so helpful with all our Vietnamese travel bookings. Highly recommended

Train departed and arrived on time.
Cabins weren’t particularly clean and the toilets were horrible, although you could walk to other companies carriages and use the toilets
