Tuỳ thuộc vào chiều dài của hành trình cũng như nhu cầu, bạn có thể chọn vé tàu hạng nhất hoặc hạng hai trong khoang giường nằm đối với các chuyến tàu đêm, hoặc chọn vé ghế mềm hoặc ghế cứng. Hãy lưu ý rằng việc lựa chọn hạng vé tàu phụ thuộc vào tuyến đường và độ dài của hành trình. Có nghĩa là chuyến tàu bạn chọn có thể có vé giường nằm hạng nhất, nhưng bạn sẽ không đặt được nếu như bạn chỉ đi một trình ngắn trong 2 tiếng. Ưu điểm của đi tàu:
- Lợi thế lớn nhất của đi tàu hoả là không có việc tắc đường. Ngay cả khi vào giờ cao điểm, cuối tuần hay mùa nghỉ lễ.
- Có thể đặt vé tàu online dễ dàng - bạn không cần phải đến tận ga tàu mới mua được vé.
- Giá vé tàu thường khá “mềm" khi so sánh với giá vé máy bay cho cùng một điểm đến, và thậm chí tổng thời gian di chuyển thì tương đương nhau.
- Dù tốc độ di chuyển tàu hoả chậm hơn đi máy bay, thì các ga tàu hoả lại thường được đặt ở trung tâm thành phố, sẽ giúp bạn tiết kiệm được rất nhiều thời gian di chuyển do sân bay thường đặt rất xa trung tâm.
- Đi tàu đêm sẽ giúp bạn tiết kiệm một đêm phòng khách sạn, và bạn cũng có thể dễ dàng ngủ ngon - ngược lại với xe khách đêm, đôi khi rất khó khăn để có thể ngủ trên xe khách.
- Đối với một số tuyến, các hãng tàu có cả dịch vụ cao cấp
Nhược điểm của đi tàu:
- Đối với các hành trình dài, đi tàu chắc chắn sẽ tốn nhiều thời gian hơn máy bay.
- Tàu thường khởi hành đúng giờ, nhưng cũng có trường hợp lịch tàu chạy bị thay đổi - và trong trường hợp đó thì giờ tàu có thể bị trễ rất lâu. Vậy nếu bạn lên kế hoạch cho một chuyến bay nối tiếp, hãy kiểm tra kỹ thời gian tàu vào ga và cân nhắc kỹ lưỡng.
- Vệ sinh trên khoang tàu có thể là một vấn đề đối với khoang hạng hai hoặc hạng ba, và cả nhà vệ sinh.
- Nếu tàu bạn chọn có nhiều điểm dừng, đôi khi bạn sẽ gặp khó khăn để xác định ga xuống, vì có thể các điểm dừng không được thông báo rõ ràng hay không có bảng thông báo hiển thị trên tàu.

Train ride was as described. Tickets were delivered to our hotel for free as promised. Train did not have a dining car so it was a good thing we brought our own snacks. Train actually arrived on time. Overall an interesting adventure.

12 go Asia are terrible but I finally got the ticket only 12 hours before the train.
Use BOOKAWAY instead. A far better service. Unlike twelve go asia, BOOKAWAY offers excellent and prompt service and a way to contact the company should you need or want to. Tickets came through very quickly with BOOKAWAY but too close for stress free travel with 12 go asia.

The only thing that was helpful - delivery of tickets to hotel.
The train station is difficult in navigation, no English instructions, no English speaking employees. I had to catch people outside to help me find train. The train itself is also stinky, dirty and cold. But at least it departures and arrives on time

My emails have always been responded very quickly. The train journey was fun. Though it departed on time, arrived 30mins late. Good overall experience anyway.

Der Preis auf der Seite ist total überteuert meiner Meinung nach. Das Zugticket kostet nur 4000 Kyat und kann ohne Probleme einen Tag im voraus oder am gleichen Tag am Bahnhof gekauft werden.

The train is quite horrible. There are no real beds, everything is quite disgusting. Very expensive for what it is. You nearly cannot talk or walk because of the movement of the train and the noise. Careful at night, no lights or windows closed because in 5 minutes it will be full of bugs.
The two stars is for the experience. I will probably always remember it. I will always remember the sunset and sunrise and the kids walking along the tracks. I will always remember the feeling of dread thinking I was going to die in the next minute by the train falling.

I expected aircon but there was no aircon. The ride was very loud so I didn't sleep much. The food was good (fried rice no meat). There was a little misunderstanding because I thought they asked me if egg was oke but apparently I ordered an extra scrambled egg (which turned out to be an omelet).

This company is great and would use them again. I've booked through them for Thailand and Myanmar, but would not recommend the train from Bagan to Mandalay. Our sleeper cabin was full of mosquitoes, very cold and we arrived 3 hours late. I've traveled a fair amount in SE Asia and even by the prevailing standards this was rough.
None of this is a reflection on 12GO, because they delivered the tickets right to our hotel and answered any questions we had. In Thailand they kept our tickets waiting with someone when we were delayed in picking them up. Our sleeper train to Chaing Mai was quite satisfactory and I'd recommend that to anyone.
So 5 stars to 12GO and 1 star to train experience in Myanmar. The rest of the country was well worth the trip though. Happy travels in 2019!!

Probably better to take a day train for sightseeing. The night train departs at 21:00 and arrives in Bagan very early at 5 a.m. Also very cold during the night. Can't sleep well.

Old shaky strain but the ride is great! Take a sleeper train, I'm 194 and was long enough for me. Just bring a blanket or something because it can be cold at night.

Train trip better than advertised. Very comfortable seats and right on schedule at departure and arrival.
A small suggestion. Turn off the ceiling lights during the night, say from 9Pm. Passengers can use the flash light app on their smartphone. Light attracts flying bugs. Shutting them off could alleviate part of this problem during the trip.

Unser Sleeper-Abteil war einfach nur schmutzig. Die letzte Reinigung muss Jahre her sein. Das Essen das im Zug angeboten wird ist grenzwertig, sowohl die Qualität als auch die Sauberkeit. Landschaftlich kriegt man schon sehr viel mehr mit als wenn man mit Bus/Flugzeug reisen würde. Dies ist das einzige Plus. Sonst eher nur für Hardcore-Turis zu empfehlen. Wir würden die Reise mit diesem Zug nicht mehr machen.

The trip was lovely! I really enjoyed the trip from Bagan to Mandalay, very relaxing and I loved getting to see the country side! The upper class section I was in was full of teenagers, they were all so nice and shared their food they got from the stops with me!

This was a great experience and interestingly the train was on time leaving Yangon and on time arriving in Mandalay. As others have mentioned the sleeper car compartments have 4 berths and we were lucky enough to share with a charming couple from the UK.
The agency 12Go Asia was less impressive but not sure how else you can buy the tickets. In the end they did what they said what they would do but they could have told us more explicitly that they had moved and as a previous reviewer wrote the building was not so easy to find (why don't they enclose a simple map?)

This was a fantastic trip despite the 4.00am start. We were retracing the steps of our great uncle who took this journey in 1941, who at the time wouldn’t have known he was to meet his wife in Pyin Oo Lwin and subsequently get married there 1942.
The scenery and smells of the countryside and the varying views of the rural people going about their daily work was an insite into Burma outside of the hectic city .
Fully recommended and be reassured the train staff are polite and helpful, and we also had the comfort of a policeman on the train , despite the locals being a friendly nation.

So.... first class sleeper in Myanmar is not what you'd see elsewhere in the world. Take a jacket or extra blanket and pack snacks. The sleeper is not assessed from the rest of the train.... I'd do it again I. A heartbeat, just better prepared.

2 berth sleeper was ok but train very noisy, rattling & shaky. Train broke down, didn’t move for 5 hours, then finally 7 hours late on arrival. No information or communication provided at all. No apology.

The train left on time and arrived in Bagan at 11am. The 12go arrival time of 9.30 is incorrect.
We booked all 4 berths and had lots of room. Watch out for people selling food for the journey on platform - they are charming but try to charge far too much. We ordered sweet and sour chicken with fried rice from the official train steward who advised we would get it at 7pm and sure enough we arrived at a station and the food was handed to us. It was very tasty and plenty for 2 people - cost 6,000 kyat.
We enjoyed the journey through the countryside and slept reasonably well. A pillow and sheet are provided. As it got cooler we switched off the fan. For security during the night we closed the windows and doors.
The toilet facilities were fine - take own toilet paper. There was some water to ‘flush’ with.
All in all a trip well worth doing

We elected to pick up our tickets at the office. It was very hard to find. The directions were not accurate, and when we finally find it we were sent to another office down the street. Very frustrating and unprofessional. The train ride was just as described.

Delivery of actual train tickets was prompt.
We were put in Cabin D with another couple from Belgium, so it wasn't a lonely night.
As I have done my research, I knew I had to bring longyi to cover myself. The operation did give pillow and sheet, but it's very random, some bed have, and some beds don't.
Make sure to download an off-line map to know whereabouts I am, as the announcement was in Burmese.
It was an experience that is enough, just for once. Won't do it again. I use my own scarf to cover. BTW Cabin F is more private as there are only 2 beds.

A must do once trip !. Not much sleep with the rocking and noise but what a way to see the countryside. Food good, though a little expensive for what is was. Toilet was basic , it’s all you need.

So nice experience to travel slowly through Myanmar, and share this moment with burmese families, monks, and all those who pick up the train to sell some food etc.

12GoAsia were very good. Efficient & prompt.
The train was as previously reviewed by others : very noisy & bumpy, but a good insight into local life & scenery. At this time of year it is also quite cold at night. We were really pleased to have had the experience, but wouldn't be too inclined to repeat it soon (though the track upgrade work is visibly underway).

Service of 12GO was perfect, with my ticket delivered to the hotel in the morning of departure.
The train left Mandalay Central 9:00p.m. sharp, and arrived in Bagan only 15-20 mins. behind the schedule.
The floor under my seat was very dirty with lots of egg shells, however, all other places looked clean enough.
As the train sways a lot, you feel as if you were on boat. So, if you get motion sickness easily, I recommend that you should not take train.
The seat was big enough and comfortable to sleep in, but the window next to my seat was broken, and I couldn't close it. Freeeezing!!!

Like the previous review, our schedule was fixed and we only got confirmation 2 days before departure. The service charges seemed high for the anxiety, minimal communication and service. The train was as expected from other reviews and l have experienced sleeper trains in India, but it took much longer and was swaying so much that l was actually concerned for my safety. Typically l enjoy the train to see the countryside but l trip is enough in Myanmar.

Being in a sleeper didn’t have access to restaurant car, which made Food very expensive - paid 55k for 3 people for dinner and breakfast

We had nice seats and the staff was very kind. Only the food and drinks onboard were a bit more expensive then if you’d buy it outside. But overal good experience!
