Overall this trainride was very confortable. There was enough space in the bed. For a train bed it was also "soft". The only bad thing was that the light was permanently on.
The train was half an hour late and the beds were not that comfortable, particularly the upper bunk which was smaller. The train is very noisy and the lights stay on all night so you need an eye mask and ear plugs to sleep, though even with these we didn’t sleep very much. There is also limited luggage storage and some people had taken up more than their share, making it trickier. It’s definitely an experience - though not one we’d be desperate to repeat!
Fun experience, but not so easy to get a sleep on the train. In every carriage there was one person available who was very helpful.
Unfortunately the dining carriage was not available at the moment. This should have been communicated.
The train was one hour late and the 3rd class is inconfortable, but we didn’t have a choice and we were warned by the internet comments. We arrived safe and sound in Chiang Mai eventually.
