Для ночной поездки вы можете выбрать первый или второй класс в спальном вагоне, в противном случае к вашим услугам “сидячие” вагоны с мягкими или жесткими сиденьями. При выборе класса вагона стоит принимать во внимание как особенности маршрута, так и его продолжительность. В вашем поезде могут быть спальные места первого класса, но вы просто не сможете забронировать их, если ехать вам нужно будет всего пару часов. В целом, места второго класса - оптимальный выбор для более длительных поездок, а мягкие сиденья будут идеальным решением, если поездка займет не более 4-5 часов.
Обращаем внимание, что в странах СНГ применяется иная классификация вагонов. Практически на любом направлении вы можете выбрать один из следующих вариантов:
СВ - двухместное купе, часто имеют персональную душевую и туалет, wi-fi, включены стандартные удобства: спальные места, кондиционер, розетки и т.п.
Купе на 4 человека - оснащены базовыми удобствами: спальные места, кондиционер, розетки и т.п.
Плацкарт - купе открытого типа, вагон “общий” на всех пассажиров. Спальные места и розетки имеются, а вот кондиционер может работать значительно хуже, т.к. работает централизованно на весь вагон.
На некоторых поездах могут встречаться “сидячие” купе или вагоны открытого типа, а также люкс-вагоны повышенной комфортности.
Выбирать тот или иной класс стоит, прежде всего, в зависимости от продолжительности поездки. Если путь займет несколько часов, то целесообразно будет сэкономить и провести это время в плацкарте или в вагоне с местами для сидения. Более же длительные поездки, наоборот, рекомендуется осуществлять в более приватных и комфортабельных купе с лежачими местами.
Плюсы и минусы поездки на поезде
Плюсы:
- Пробки! Точнее, их полное отсутствие. В час пик, в выходные, в самый горячий сезон - на ж/д направлениях пробок не бывает никогда
- Простой и понятный процесс онлайн-бронирования. Еще не так давно, для покупки билетов было необходимо лично ехать на вокзал. Теперь же, купить билет на поезд можно в несколько кликов мышью.
- Поезда - это относительно дешево. Стоимость билетов на поезд в большинстве случаев значительно ниже в сравнении с авиабилетами. При этом, для некоторых направлений время в пути может быть почти одинаковым.
- Хотя ж/д транспорт, безусловно, медленнее авиационного, ж/д вокзалы часто расположены в черте (а то и в самом центре) города, что дополнительно экономит время на дорогу, в то время как аэропорты почти всегда находятся далеко за городом.
- На некоторых направлениях доступны услуги класса люкс, такие как купе с душем и туалетом или бар.
Минусы:
- На большинстве направлений (особенно это касается поездов дальнего следования) поездка на поезде все же занимает больше времени, чем авиаперелет.
- Хоть поезда в целом и ходят по расписанию, опоздания все же иногда случаются и это надо учитывать. В редких случаях, задержки могут растягиваться на часы. Обязательно помните об этом, когда составляете маршрут путешествия - если вы планируете пересадку на самолет, то билет на поезд лучше забронировать с хорошим запасом по времени.
- Слабое место практически всех поездов - чистота туалетов.
- Поезд может делать много остановок на коротком отрезке пути, а остановки далеко не всегда объявляются, что может легко внести путаницу. Также, нужно быть готовым к тому, что ваша остановка будет посреди ночи, а поезд простоит на станции всего несколько минут.

We could't find anywhere on 12go asia or on the voucher how to get our tickets, making it really difficult to get in the train. We Also had to change room several times because the crew could not find our reservation.

The bus left me at the wrong terminal even if they knew my flight. Also, it arrived 1.5 bours early, which is not great because it means 1.5 hours less sleeping. On the bright side, I slept the entire time on the bus, which means that the ride was smooth and leather seat was comfortable (even if a little too short for me).

À Lao Caï la marche pour monter dans le train est trop haute
Par la climatisation odeur de cigarette ++ fort désagréable
Sinon très confortable , prestations de qualité , draps très propres, oreillers et couettes douillets - couchette accueillante et bien présentée
Aucun dérangement ou réveil durant la nuit par les contrôleurs pour vérifier les billets ( ce qui n’est pas le cas en France )
Verrouillage par crochet à l’intérieur des couchettes
Wc très propres - lavabos pour toilette succincte ( brosses à dent +peigne fournis )
Rapport qualité /prix excellent

Because of our Trekking during the day i was able to sleep just fine on the way back. Sapaly is also one of the better company’s to book with, you get water, slippers, etc.
I would recomend if you need to go to the toilet go in the beginning of the trainride. Because it starts to smell.

Since we travelled from Hanoi to Sapa Lao Cai with Chapa Express we had a Train to compare it to. Sapaly was clean, on time and we got a good nights sleep. Chapa Express was a little nicer in presentation and maybe also cleanliness but both fulfilled their purpose and got us from A to B in a comfortable, safe and clean way.
In both cases you habe to be okay with the rocking of the Train which can be pretty heavy.

Excelente, no se puede pedir mas de tren nocturno. El personal súper atento. Las camas cómodissimas, sábanas blancas e impecables. El tren, incluyendo los baños limpísimos. La temperatura completamente regulada. El personal te avisa como media hora antes de llegar y te ofrecen te o café por la mañana. El tren estéticamente hablando tiene un interior precioso. El mejor tren nocturno de mi vida.

I travelled before on this train in a 4 berth cabin, very uncomfortable mattress and only a sheet and blanket so in comparison the 1st class sleeper is very comfortable. Good mattress and very comfy duvet. Friendly and helpful rep. Train is obviously very noisy when moving at speed so it is difficult to sleep. Toilet ok in 1st class due to fewer people using it.

It is clean and comes with toothbrush, comb, slippers, water and snacks. Most of the operators on train can barely speak or understand English, it’s difficult to communicate if u have any problems.
Should clean the toilet more often though. It smells after a few hours!
Everything is considered pleasant & safe, but the road is kind of too bumpy for me, so I didn’t enjoy it that much. However, it is still a good experience if u never try on a sleeper train b4.
I prefer to travel with bus rather than sleeper train for in/out Sapa.

Room was clean and it has free amenities, a bottle of water and te/coffe morning. The toilet was very dirty. Pay atention, to pick up the voucher ticket is a out 10 minuts by walk from the main entrance.

After a night with Vietnam Railways, the Sapaly express seems like a 4-star hotel. No cockroaches, clean, very nice and clean blankets and even some snacks, water, beer and coke included (VIP package). Enough toilet paper in the toilet but still a train toilet so wear shoes when you go to the toilet.

Enjoyed the trip...i love their morning coffee. Do not expect very clean/odour free washroom but its as good as it can be. The washroom comes with water host. Overall experience was great

I was looking for a ticket booth but couldn't find any. Finally I found the train but the guy at the train made me wait about 30 mins before let me in to the train. I was up set and disappoint for the service I received as a VIP customer.

We've had a 2p cabin which was great, also because of a double matress. Clean cabin and beds. When we entered the cabin, the floor was still a little wet from cleaning. We didn't used the toilets.

Dirty toilet, old train noisy, AC was not adjustable and in general was warm. Funny experience but i raccomend other means of transport to reach Sapa.

La porte des compartiments a un très grand jour laissant passer la lumière et ferme mal (pas de sécurité comme à l’aller). L’air conditionné n’est pas assez puissant et il fait bien trop chaud.
Mauvaise nuit en comparaison au VIP Sleeper 4x (Train No. SP3) pris à l’aller.

Very noisy and uncomfortable. Much better to go with sleeping bus: is shorter, there is no noise and is cheaper. We payed almost 300€ for 2 way VIP cabin and ee had a horrible experience

The sapaly sleep carriage is more comfortable than the fanxipan carriage. To get the train tickets was a hassle. It was not near the train station. It was located in a restaurant across from the train station. The carriage personnel was great

Train shakes a lot so it is difficult to sleep. The beds are clean although a bit small. Bathroom is acceptable but nothing to write home about.

The cabin provided by Sapaly was amazing, with lots of little touches like free drinks and plush bedding that made it lovely. However the train itself was quite old and extremely loud. My partner and I didn’t sleep a wink which meant that when we got to Sapa we were very exhausted and had to catch up on a few hours of sleep in the afternoon. Great experience but we probably wouldn’t do it again!

I requested a bottom bunk but I guess due to high demand I was placed on the top bunk. There was initial concern both about how I was going to get up and how I was going to not drop out during the ride.
I could see getting up being tricky if you’re smaller or don’t have any arm strength, it was a little difficult in the middle of the night half asleep. Although my shorter (5’5) roommate managed to get up to her bunk with little effort - so maybe I’m wrong.
I was presently surprised with the comfort of the beds. Despite there being minimal precautions to keep you in the bunk whilst the train is moving there was little risk of falling out. You can feel the train moving obviously but it wasn’t particularly jerky.
If you’re over 180cm you’re probably the size of the bed or bigger, as I was. Honestly though it wasn’t a real issue, I was able to curl slightly and get a good nights sleep.
The staff were incredibly helpful and even gave us a wake up call in the morning and brought round free tea and coffee.
As far as overnight transport goes this was probably the best nights sleep I have had on a bus/train/plane. I saw some comments about the toilet state, they weren’t the prettiest by about half way through the night, but no different to any other long haul journey. Toilets always get gross in these situations.

It's definitely worth paying a bit more for the extra comfort offered by Sapaly! Comparing to Vietnam Railways it's really luxurious! Perfectly clean and comfortable compartments, soft beds and the small details like disposable toothbrush etc. make you feel like in a really good hotel on wheels :-)

We read reviews on the best ways to travel to Sapa from Hanoi and most suggested taking the night train. If you are looking for comfort, we highly recommend other options. However, if you are looking for an experience to later laugh about, try the night train.
We booked our tickets with Sapaly Express while we were still in the states. Luckily we had a printed copy of our confirmation because there is no ticket counter. We had a hard time finding the location to pick up our boarding pass. We asked a random guy sitting next to a snack vendor for help and it turned out he was Sapaly person holding our boarding pass.
If you thought wasn’t hard enough, we were then directed to walk around the train station to board our train. It was a good 10 minute walk thru a dimly light street. As an FYI, we discovered there is an over-path in the station after we returned.
We booked the full birth(2 bottom and 2 top bulks). The mattress is thin and the rail on the top bulks didn’t provide a lot comfort. I was terrified of falling in the middle of the night. The birth comes with crackers, water and toothbrush. We were offered coffee in the morning without additional charge. We didn’t mind the noise from the train ride, but it felt like we were being shucked like toys. At one point in the middle of the night, the train came to a sudden stop with all the doors sliding open.
Overall, the ride wasn’t good nor was it bad. It’s now checked off our bucket list and we won’t have the need to try this again.

The room was really lovely, very comfortable beds and thoughtful touches with the water and snacks, as well as the wood detailing giving it a Old-world feel. Only downside was the toilet, which wasn’t very clean by the end of the trip and had started to smell quite bad. The sapaly ticket office is also located on the opposite side of the train station as the main entrance, so this made collecting our tickets a little confusing.
