Welke veerbootklassen en prijzen biedt TransBaanTon?
De vuistregel is: hoe sneller de boot, hoe hoger de prijs. Voordat je boekt, moet je beslissen of je een snelle verbinding nodig hebt of dat een langzamere optie ook voldoet. De tarieven van de laatste zijn vaak veel voordeliger. Het verschil in reistijd kan echter aanzienlijk zijn, dus controleer altijd hoe lang de overtocht duurt voordat je je ticket boekt. Daarnaast kan de beschikbaarheid van sommige klassen beperkt zijn, waardoor vooraf reserveren noodzakelijk is. Vergeet niet om altijd te controleren vanuit welke haven je boot vertrekt en in welke haven deze aankomt, zodat je de meest geschikte optie voor je verdere reis kunt kiezen. De voordelen van reizen per veerboot
- Het nemen van een veerboot is de enige manier om sommige eilanden te bereiken. En vaak zijn dat juist enkele van de mooiste en meest paradijselijke eilanden die je altijd al hebt willen bezoeken.
- Er zijn vaak verschillende ticketklassen beschikbaar, zodat je het tarief, comfortniveau, de reistijd en het schema kunt kiezen dat het beste bij je past.
- Boek online om tijd te besparen. Op veel routes is vooraf boeken zelfs noodzakelijk. Dit geldt vooral voor langere reizen, drukke periodes zoals nationale feestdagen, lange weekenden of het hoogseizoen. Ook als jouw route slechts een beperkt aantal afvaarten per dag heeft, is het verstandig om enkele dagen van tevoren te reserveren.
- Reizen met de veerboot is een leuke ervaring. Het is bijzonder om bestemmingen die je hebt bezocht eens vanuit een ander perspectief te bekijken, namelijk vanaf het water. Bijna elke bestemming ziet er prachtig uit vanaf zee en je krijgt volop kansen om mooie foto's te maken.
Nadelen van reizen per veerboot
- Zeeziekte is voor veel passagiers de grootste zorg. Hoe langer de reis en hoe ruwer de zee, hoe groter de kans dat je last krijgt van misselijkheid. Om je reis aangenamer te maken, kun je ongeveer een half uur voor vertrek een middel tegen zeeziekte innemen en de bovenstaande aanbevelingen opvolgen.
- Veerbootreizen zijn sterk afhankelijk van het weer. Dat betekent dat afvaarten op regenachtige dagen vertraagd kunnen zijn of zelfs geannuleerd kunnen worden. Het is niet ongebruikelijk dat veerverbindingen, zelfs naar grotere eilanden, tijdens stormachtig weer meerdere dagen worden stilgelegd. Houd hier rekening mee als je veerbootreis aansluit op een vlucht, want in bepaalde periodes bestaat de kans dat je later dan verwacht op het vasteland aankomt.

The bus was late at the meeting point (Khao Lak) but the ride was good. We receive a little bag with bottle of water, juice and biscuits. It was cold during the trip but fortunately we had a blanket to keep us warm.

The bus was great, but the staff was really unfriendly.
We were sitting in the last row of the bus, behind us was the wall. There was a little bit of free space where in the beginning some boxes were stored. The bus attendant came to sleep on the floor in that space. He woked us up, by putting up our seats so that he could enter in that little space.
I understand that the staff also needs to sleep, but please organise a space for that in the bus. This doesn’t feel like a good service when someone is sleeping on the floor under your seat while you are in a comfortable coach.
Secondly when we were getting out of the bus the bus started to drive before we were able to pick out luggage from the luggage department. We took our luggages on the move and the bus drove away with the luggage department open. I don’t know what happened to the luggage of other passengers, but it’s most likely has fallen out of the vehicle on the move

Disappointing experience overall. I asked if my hotel could be added as a pickup point since it was only about 500 meters away and on the way, but the request was refused, so I had to walk there with my luggage.
Communication during the trip was very poor. We were dropped off without explanation, didn’t know we had to take our bags, and were suddenly rushed to run for the ferry at the last minute. After the crossing, we had to wait about 1 hour and 15 minutes for the bus.
The bus to Bangkok was extremely old, with terrible suspension and very smelly toilets, making the journey quite uncomfortable.
For comparison, Ko chang Transport was much better organized: friendly staff, we stayed in the same van on the ferry, and everything was smooth and well coordinated. Trans Baan Ton felt much less organized.

Bus ride was great but when got to port kicked off the bus with minimal guidance. Nearby desks tried to sell hotel transfer despite the fact I’d already paid. Eventually spoke to the right person and was given a number. Other people were put in a minibus but the rest of us were told to get on ferry (no assistance with the luggage)and we would be picked up other side. This happened and we were taken to the hotel so all was good in the end. But the port process is somewhat chaotic.

Best operator Ive had for the Koh Samui trip so far.
The first van turned up at 7.45am instead of 8am which was a bit annoying and put us in a sweaty last minute rush to get our bags down 50 odd stairs and check out but we were ready early so this was OK. The second van was comfortable with reclining seats and everyone fell asleep.
Be prepared for the standard random vehicle changes and poor communication but otherwise a good trip

No information beforehand. Suddenly the bus stopped and we got told to get out and no more information. Then we had to wait fpr a while while no one would tell us how long or anything. Were not told when we arrived at the border control what would håpen or what to do. Would have been much better with just a little bit information

Booking my trip was easy, but the details about the bus stop were not correct. I dd wait the bus as asked in Khao Lak Bus station, but the bus did not arrive. I did call the 12GO international hotline and then I soon was picked up and I mede it to the bus. Tjis information should be dated! In bus station there was a sign about something only in Thai. I have taken the sama bus from the same location previously without probem. I do not know if the bus was waiting me on the rouad side bus stop, where I had no knowledge to go to, since it did say bus station in the reservation and in the ticket. Phonecall was vital, from WA questionnaire I got delayed answer and starnge emoji answer, when I asked about the arrival of the bus.

I booked transport from Koh Samui to Penang. The evening before departure I was informed there was a “problem” and that my original transfer would not operate. I was instructed to be at Raja Ferry at 5:30am instead.
When I arrived, there was no van and no clear contact person. After waiting and multiple calls/messages, I had to purchase my own ferry ticket to Don Sak and arrange my own transfer to connect with the bus.
From Don Sak onward the bus journey ran smoothly, and to their credit the ferry ticket I purchased was refunded. However, the early morning coordination was poorly handled and unnecessarily stressful.
Clearer communication and proper pickup organization would have avoided the confusion and extra cost/time.
Transport was completed, but the experience — especially the morning transfer — was not well managed.

The driver was fantastic and saved this transfer from being poor. Pickup was 1pm but didn’t actually get picked up until 2:30pm. If i hadn’t texted for updates i would have no idea. Traffic was poor i understand but 1hr30 is alot. The driver like i said was very happy and helpful.

Kata beach - Ao Nang - bus was on time, but then had to do multiple pickups around Phuket. Which meant, not leaving Phuket Island until 3pm, due to Phuket traffic. Had two stops along the way, first stop driver nearly left without me. Second stop was only 40KM from Ao Nang, which felt a bit pointless.

During booking the trip it was mentioned that bus gonna be comfortable minivan.
The minivan actually came to pick me up from hotel, but he just drop me to bus station and I need to wait 50 min outside for another bus. They brought very old bus with very small leg space which cause pain to sit there. The luggage was placed in the middle of aisle, so you cant even keep legs out to rest the knee pain.
I sat on single sit, than driver forced me to sit in the front on double sit with another person. When I asked him why I cant sit alone where I feel comfortable, he was very rude and shouting back.

The minivan arrived late for pickup and also arrived significantly late at the destination. The driver was driving very aggressively, following other vehicles extremely closely, and the ride felt unsafe. Toward the end, there seemed to be a technical issue and the van almost lost control. I was not dropped off directly at my hotel and had to walk several hundred meters. For taller passengers, the minivan is quite uncomfortable, although I was lucky to have enough legroom.

The driver was 30 minutes late then asked us for 200 THB each for luggage even though our suitcases were normal size and not overweight. We arrived to the hotel 1.5 hours later than advertised. But he got us from A - B. The mini bus was also quite stuffy and warm.

Bus terminal transfer was utterly shambolic no one recognised the transfer details you sent they finally agreed to put us on a bus after 1 hour of negotiation however once we got moving it was ok at the pier driver stopped behind a large building never said anything only realised that was the stop as we set off again and saw the pier made the driver stop again and had to walk back downhill to the pier pier check in very good very quick transfer to the boat

I was a little nervous because of the bad reviews, but everything went smoothly for me, thank you so much. The pick-up in Khao Lak (in front of McDonald's) was on time, the tuk-tuk was already waiting at the bus station in Ranong, and we had almost an hour at the pier to grab something to eat. We then arrived on Koh Phayam almost on time by speedboat.

we were supposed to get picked up at 1pm, actually got picked up at 2.30pm. If we hadn’t texted the mentioned number we wouldn’t even have had any confirmation that they were on their way/ they were running late. When the bus arrived, there was no space for our luggage because the trunk was so small. We had to change drivers half way through and both of them specifically asked me (19yo female) to sit next to them in the front seat, which was quite weird. The drive that should have taken 4-4.5h took 5.5 hours so not a great experiece overall.

Timings were quite a bit out. We got told to be at pick up an hour before. The pick up actually came 35 mins later than pick up time so we were actually waiting for a long time. Apart from that the overall service from booking to drop off was fine. I would definitely recommend to use this company.
