De voordelen van reizen per veerboot
- Het nemen van een veerboot is de enige manier om sommige eilanden te bereiken. En vaak zijn dat juist enkele van de mooiste en meest paradijselijke eilanden die je altijd al hebt willen bezoeken.
- Er zijn vaak verschillende ticketklassen beschikbaar, zodat je het tarief, comfortniveau, de reistijd en het schema kunt kiezen dat het beste bij je past.
- Boek online om tijd te besparen. Op veel routes is vooraf boeken zelfs noodzakelijk. Dit geldt vooral voor langere reizen, drukke periodes zoals nationale feestdagen, lange weekenden of het hoogseizoen. Ook als jouw route slechts een beperkt aantal afvaarten per dag heeft, is het verstandig om enkele dagen van tevoren te reserveren.
- Reizen met de veerboot is een leuke ervaring. Het is bijzonder om bestemmingen die je hebt bezocht eens vanuit een ander perspectief te bekijken, namelijk vanaf het water. Bijna elke bestemming ziet er prachtig uit vanaf zee en je krijgt volop kansen om mooie foto's te maken.
Nadelen van reizen per veerboot
- Zeeziekte is voor veel passagiers de grootste zorg. Hoe langer de reis en hoe ruwer de zee, hoe groter de kans dat je last krijgt van misselijkheid. Om je reis aangenamer te maken, kun je ongeveer een half uur voor vertrek een middel tegen zeeziekte innemen en de bovenstaande aanbevelingen opvolgen.
- Veerbootreizen zijn sterk afhankelijk van het weer. Dat betekent dat afvaarten op regenachtige dagen vertraagd kunnen zijn of zelfs geannuleerd kunnen worden. Het is niet ongebruikelijk dat veerverbindingen, zelfs naar grotere eilanden, tijdens stormachtig weer meerdere dagen worden stilgelegd. Houd hier rekening mee als je veerbootreis aansluit op een vlucht, want in bepaalde periodes bestaat de kans dat je later dan verwacht op het vasteland aankomt.

Wij waren een half uurtje te vroeg, konden daardoor een boot eerder pakken vanaf Koh Samui.
In Surat thani is het busstation makkelijk te vinden, personeel wijst de juiste weg.
Bus rijdt volgens schema,15 minuten voor het hele uur, maar wacht nog op de boot die aankomt op het hele uur.
Wij waren volgens schema op tijd op de luchthaven.

Seatran office in Surat Thani easy to find. Smooth journey. Very helpful staff. Is a little cheaper (by ~100 baht) to go straight to Seatran office and ferry yourself if feeling more adventurous

Koh Samui to Bangkok during the night. No need to print the tickets. Ferry was on time and it was easy to find our transfer for the train (which was 30 min late but it happens).
The 3rd class train is really not a good idea, lights on all night, ventilators turn on & impossible to turn off, windows open so it’s pretty cold & lots of noises from outside that you can’t block. Seats are uncomfortable & 2x2 facing each others so you don’t have any way to try to sleep peacefully.
People come to sell a variety of food & drinks (coffee), it’s still better to buy beforehand tho ; but during the night they keep on coming every 20 min screaming so it’s impossible to sleep. Bathrooms uncleaned and without paper but it’s to be expected on a train.
I saw the seats on 2nd class & they did look a bit better but I think if you don’t book a bed it’s not a good idea to travel by train. Cheapest option but I won’t do it again, the night bus seats were way more comfortable & it was less noisy.

Поездка прошла безупречно. За детей на паром я билеты не оплачивала. По моему до 3-х лет бесплатно. А на в автобус место доплатила на кассе по прибытию 300 местными. Чистый паром, хочешь сиди внутри, хочешь снаружи, хочешь наверху... На борту есть мини магазин всяких закусок и кофемашина!! Не нескафе, я была в восторге. Цена практически такая же, что на берегу. Organisation und Ablauf waren prima. Allerdings war der klapprige Minivan mit Gepäck und Fahrgästen überfüllt und die 1,5 stündige Fahrt zur Fähre sehr ungemütlich. Die Fähre war ziemlich alt und schäbig.

Easy to check in, able to take an earlier transfer which was great. Group suddenly gone however. We were able to find them outside, but they had to rearrange the bags and make some space for us. The space was very limited and a bit cramped, so the ride was not super comfortable.

online ticket was more expensive (about 240 vs 170 baht) and the boarding process is a little complicated for prepaid tickets. I guess the only good that I got out of electronic tickets is paperless.

Hat eugentlich alles super geklappt. Jedoch der Fahrer wirkte sehr beunruhigend und suchte wärend der ganzen Fahrt irgend etwas. Auch war der Fahrer immer wieder am Handy und sprach ganz aufgeregt. Somit war die Fahrt für mich nicht entspannend.

Highly recommend Seatran, we have used them twice now and both trips were excellent. There is even a little shop on board if you need a quick bite. The trip is super quick, only about 1 1/2 hrs. I suggest sitting up stairs on the deck under the shade to get amazing views of the islands. This time we transferred to Surat Thani by bus and had no issues. Got off the ferry and walked up to the bus area and just asked around showing our ticket until we found the right one. Bus was nice and had reclining seats and AC, perfect for a quick nap. Thank you very much!!

Excellent service by a well-organized company. We booked a couple of days in advance and had no issues getting from Nakhon Si Thammarat to Koh Samui. The staff at the Seatran booking counter in Nakhon Si Thammarat airport were very friendly and helpful. They checked us in and called us a van that took us on a 1 1/2 hour drive to the ferry terminal in Don Sak, Surat Thani. We waited an hour or so to board the ferry which was 1 1/2 hours of smooth sailing. The ferry has a small shop on board and the chairs are pretty comfy. We were able to take a van from the peir to our hotel in Bo Put for 150 bhat but some people paid 70, others 200, so maybe try to negotiate. Still cheaper than Grab which was an insane 660 bhat.

Ехали с друзьями с Пхукета на Самуи. Взяли такси до порта, а билеты на паром через 12go.
Сначало пришла бронь, а минут через 5-10 билеты. Билеты покупали на 14:00, но приехали в 11:30, по тем же билетам сели на 12 часовой без проблем. Сервисом остались довольны

The boat was on time (I think it even left early so make sure to arrive there 30 minutes before departure time) but we didn’t really know where to go as they aren’t lots of indication to tell us the way and it was a bit difficult to carry our suitcases on the ferry. (The stairs are steep and nobody was available to help us).

Really straightforward. There are lots of people waiting at ferry Terminal who will make sure you get on the right bus / ferry. When you get off the ferry just walk to the car park and there someone will make sure you get on the right van.

Die Klimaanlage war so runter gedreht, (Führe 5:30 Uhr) dass wir trotz Pullover, langer Hosen etc. so gefroren haben und 2 Tage später krank waren. Auf Nachfrage beim Personal, ob man es wärmer machen könnte, haben die uns abgewiesen.
