Om de meest pittoreske eilanden te bereiken moet je af en toe een veerboot nemen. Sommige bestemmingen worden bediend door grotere en stabielere autoveerboten, andere door kleinere maar snellere hogesnelheidsboten of catamarans. Als je gemakkelijk zeeziek wordt, vermijd dan reizen met een catamaran die op de golven rijdt wanneer de zee ruw is en kies liever voor een hogesnelheidsboot, omdat die door het water snijdt en daardoor minder schommelt. Het kan ook helpen om hoge golven beter te verdragen als je op een hoger gelegen openluchtdek gaat zitten. Welke veerbootklassen en prijzen biedt Green Planet?
De vuistregel is: hoe sneller de boot, hoe hoger de prijs. Voordat je boekt, moet je beslissen of je een snelle verbinding nodig hebt of dat een langzamere optie ook voldoet. De tarieven van de laatste zijn vaak veel voordeliger. Het verschil in reistijd kan echter aanzienlijk zijn, dus controleer altijd hoe lang de overtocht duurt voordat je je ticket boekt. Daarnaast kan de beschikbaarheid van sommige klassen beperkt zijn, waardoor vooraf reserveren noodzakelijk is. Vergeet niet om altijd te controleren vanuit welke haven je boot vertrekt en in welke haven deze aankomt, zodat je de meest geschikte optie voor je verdere reis kunt kiezen. De voordelen van reizen per veerboot
- Het nemen van een veerboot is de enige manier om sommige eilanden te bereiken. En vaak zijn dat juist enkele van de mooiste en meest paradijselijke eilanden die je altijd al hebt willen bezoeken.
- Er zijn vaak verschillende ticketklassen beschikbaar, zodat je het tarief, comfortniveau, de reistijd en het schema kunt kiezen dat het beste bij je past.
- Boek online om tijd te besparen. Op veel routes is vooraf boeken zelfs noodzakelijk. Dit geldt vooral voor langere reizen, drukke periodes zoals nationale feestdagen, lange weekenden of het hoogseizoen. Ook als jouw route slechts een beperkt aantal afvaarten per dag heeft, is het verstandig om enkele dagen van tevoren te reserveren.
- Reizen met de veerboot is een leuke ervaring. Het is bijzonder om bestemmingen die je hebt bezocht eens vanuit een ander perspectief te bekijken, namelijk vanaf het water. Bijna elke bestemming ziet er prachtig uit vanaf zee en je krijgt volop kansen om mooie foto's te maken.
Nadelen van reizen per veerboot
- Zeeziekte is voor veel passagiers de grootste zorg. Hoe langer de reis en hoe ruwer de zee, hoe groter de kans dat je last krijgt van misselijkheid. Om je reis aangenamer te maken, kun je ongeveer een half uur voor vertrek een middel tegen zeeziekte innemen en de bovenstaande aanbevelingen opvolgen.
- Veerbootreizen zijn sterk afhankelijk van het weer. Dat betekent dat afvaarten op regenachtige dagen vertraagd kunnen zijn of zelfs geannuleerd kunnen worden. Het is niet ongebruikelijk dat veerverbindingen, zelfs naar grotere eilanden, tijdens stormachtig weer meerdere dagen worden stilgelegd. Houd hier rekening mee als je veerbootreis aansluit op een vlucht, want in bepaalde periodes bestaat de kans dat je later dan verwacht op het vasteland aankomt.

De bootreis was prima. Vervolgens opgehaald met een minivan. Overstap op een soort busstation naar een andere minivan. Die heeft vervolgens nog mensen opgehaald van het vliegveld van krabi (half uur moeten wachten). Dit alles was bij mij niet bekend.

Great to be able to book online and everthing worked perfectly concerning booking, speedboat and hotel transfer. However there was not provided any life jackets for children and the staff just laughed when I asked them to get us some for my two children. That's not ok!

Stunning places to visit and swim, the hot springs are really warm and the emerald pool is stunning clear and refreshing. The white temple is ok, but would have preferred the day end after the emerald pool and hot springs. Our guide AB and the drivers name who I forget were also really helpful and watch over your belonging while you swim

Boat was overloaded, 4 people squeezed on a bench seat per row not very comfortable. Customers were frightened causing lots of tension. staff reacted in an angry and rude manner when people voiced their concerns telling people to "shut up". Very unprofessional and unorganised.
The boat journey was fine fairly smooth and on time.

L'heure de ramassage à l'hôtel n'était pas précise (attente de 40 min). La bâteau est tout de même parti à l'heure. Un peu nombreux dans le bâteau mais efficace.

Clean, big boat, the problem is there's no bus service included from Patong/Phuket town so had to spend a lot in taxi to arrive on time. I'd rather pay more and get picked up from hotel or bus station...

It was my first experience on a speed boat. There was no visible signage for the company when we arrived at the peer. However, once we found it, the service was excellent. On the boat, I did not enjoy being cramped with visibility only if you stand up or if you are the lucky ones in the back row. Once again, we appreciated when the driver announced there was seating in the open front (with the luggage) of the boat so we could enjoy the scenery along the way! When we got to AoNang we had to walk a little ways so we could be sent in the transportation to our hotels but it went smoothly. It took about 3 hours to get from the pier to our hotel in downtown Krabi.

Boat was too late and too crowded. The pier in Phuket is so far away from everything on Phuket. They will ask you to book a transportation from the pier to your stay in Phuket. You have to either take this option or take the taxi service at the pier which is a bit cheaper and private.

The “speed” boat was nearly 1hr late at the Bang Rong Pier :( we were told to meet at Railey Pier East but then we’re out into a long tail boat (poorly explained by the staff what’s happening), to get to another place to get on the truck, then to get to Ao Nang ferry pier where it all felt chaotic with the bags being put on the actual speed boat and people cramming into the boat. Overall it wasn’t a good experience.

The attendants were very nice and helpful, but there were no life jackets onboard. This is unacceptable. We are taking the ferry/speed boat Wednesday and hope you will have life jackets onboard abd will show the passengers where they are. Please fix this as they obviously should ge available. The ticket also said the speed boat had ac, a toilet, and cafe onboard but we saw none of these. Thank you

Amazing. So accommodating and helpful in every way. We have been on many tours but everyone went above to make sure you were doing alright! Our guide Toy, was so sweet! You can tell she loves people and loves what she does! If we do it again we would 100% be choosing this company. We got lucky with great weather this time of the year and they made sure we enjoyed our time and each stop . :)

All good except that the staff who meet you at the port try to force you to hire a taxi from the destination port with them at a very high price, saying that there are no taxis at the port and you will be left without transport. We obviously ignored him and paid half of what he offered.

Pick up from hotel was on time however driver failed to check my ticket then drove me to the wrong place, he took me to the bus terminal instead of the pier for the speedboat. I missed the service and arrived at 10.05 luckily the 10am had not departed so I was rushed onto this boat.

12Go was not able to provide me with the paid traintickets from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng, Lao PDR. 12Go insisted to trust them and that they can organize the tickets. Even 5h before the train Departure they did not agree that they are not able to provide. I booked premium service but even then they did not help or make a clear statement. Very bad experience for all of my family. Very dishonest from 12Go, letting us wait and not providing us the tickets until it was too late.

The pick up at Ao Nang was not at my hotel, but at a pick up point. Worked fine because I had hotel close, but should been informed since it stands Ao Nang Hotel Transfer.
The rest of trip worked great, also the transfer to my hotel in Kamala.

I called Green Planet hotline the night before our trip to change plans- we decided to not go to the airport but Patong. The woman was very nice and said no problem. The next day we showed up at the pier and our taxi dropped us off by the Green Planet sign. We waited there until we saw the Green Planet boat and a woman from a different company told us where to go to board the boat. Once we got on, a person told us to get back off the boat and check in on the dock. Another man yelled at us on the dock, telling us we needed to check in before we got on the boat. Check in where? He berated me and also didn't know that I had changed our destination when he did get our information. We got stickers that the yelling man told us would give us a taxi to our next destination. When we arrived in Phuket, the taxi driver had no plan for us and we ended up paying our own way.
