Welke busklassen en prijzen biedt Bangkok Travel Plus?
De prijs van je busreis hangt af van zowel de bestemming als de klasse van je ticket. We willen je erop wijzen dat niet alle ticketklassen beschikbaar zijn op bepaalde routes, maar voor langere reizen is er bijna altijd een goede keuze beschikbaar. Kies voor een slaapbus voor de meest comfortabele reis met overnachting. Slaapbussen zijn meestal uitgerust met ligplaatsen of zachte stoelen met verstelbare rugleuning, hebben een toilet aan boord en je ticket kan ook andere extra's bevatten zoals snacks of zelfs een lunch of avondmaaltijd. Een nachtbus nemen is ook een goed idee als je wilt besparen op je hotelkamer. Overdag is een expresbus vaak het voordeligst, omdat deze minder vaak stopt dan een gewone of standaardklasse bus. Dit betekent dat je sneller op je bestemming aankomt. Op sommige routes kan het van cruciaal belang zijn om de juiste klasse te kiezen, want een gewone of tweede klas bus kan bijvoorbeeld 6 uur nodig hebben om de afstand af te leggen, daar waar een eerste klas of expresbus in twee uur je bestemming bereikt!

De voordelen van reizen met de bus
- Bussen hebben meestal het breedste netwerk van bestemmingen. Ze reizen naar plaatsen waar je met het vliegtuig of zelfs met de trein niet kunt komen.
- Reizen met de bus is gemakkelijk, want je hoeft niet lang van tevoren in de busterminal te zijn, en het inchecken is meestal een zeer snelle formaliteit in tegenstelling tot reizen met het vliegtuig.
- Buskaartjes zijn zeer betaalbaar. Ja, er zijn dure eerste klas of VIP-opties, maar als je slechts een beperkt budget hebt, is de bus je beste keuze.
- Tegelijkertijd zijn er verschillende klassen van dienstverlening voor elk budget. Als je op zoek bent naar een hoger niveau van comfort, dan heb je hiervoor de keuze.
De nadelen van reizen met de bus
- Bepaalde busterminals kunnen zich buiten het stadscentrum in de buitenwijken bevinden. Dat betekent dat je rekening moet houden met extra tijd en geld om naar deze busterminals te reizen. Op bepaalde bestemmingen kan je dit meer geld kosten dan je zou verwachten, omdat slechts een beperkt aantal vervoersmaatschappijen de route mag bedienen en de prijzen kunnen zijn opgedreven.
- Tijdens drukke weekenden of in het hoogseizoen kunnen bussen die sommige toeristische bestemmingen verzorgen, volgeboekt zijn en moet je van tevoren reserveren.
- Hoewel bussen niet zo afhankelijk zijn van het weer als veerboten, kunnen busreizen ook worden vertraagd of geannuleerd als gevolg van slecht weer of wegomstandigheden. Houd hier rekening mee als je tijdens bepaalde seizoenen of naar bepaalde bestemmingen reist.

Bus was op tijd, alles was goed geregeld. Echter na een uur file in Bangkok bleek de bus kapot. Uurtje moeten wachten op vervanging. Deze partybus was niet ingericht op slapen en stonk naar urine.

The people from the Bangkok travel office took us to the bus terminal and just left us there with zero instructions whatsoever. We were wondering around not sure where to go and tried to get help but no one knew our company. Eventually someone found us and took us to a bus which was meant to be vip but really wasn’t very comfortable at all and the toilet was awful. Not nice to be on for 12 hours

I booked a more expensive VIP bus ticket, but I don’t think I got a VIP bus. The bus was very old, not very clean and really uncomfortable. Compare to other “VIP” buses I’ve taken, this one was definitely the worst.

The bus was a bit cheap, lot of AC, the sit was broken so I couldn’t really lay down. But we had a stop with proper food, free water and a snack. A bit expensive for what it is. I guess it’s lotery, about what bus you will get.

Pretty smooth, got help from 12go support right away through whatsapp when there was a problem with the email I provided. Travel agency was efficient and seemed trustworthy enough. Operator was nice. They did bring us about two hours early from the travel agency to the central bus station so we had to wait there but there's a 7-11 and some shops. The guy who took care of the passengers in ths bus was very nice and smiling, tried to help everyone and made up for his lack of english with his good willingness. Je gave us a butter sandwhich and some water. There was a stop about 5 hours in so that we could eat a highway restaurant by exchanging the bus ticket for a meal, it was very good. Stop was quite fast so be careful not to let the bus go without you.
We arrived at chiang mao bus station and not the guest house that was announced by the website, however it didnt matter to us as we didnt intend on staying there. But it did seem to bother a family that had traveled with us and were quite annoyed at the mishap.
Bus was ok, I managed to sleep pretty well which is unusual for me in these scenarios, the seat could recline quite a lot and the leg room was fine, I'm rather tall so I ended up having one leg out in the central alley of the bus and squeezing the other one between our bags as there weren't any storage compartiment overhead so had to put them under the seat in front of us.
Do recommend packing a jacket or even light sweater for the ac that will be running all the way through if you are prone to catching colds, as well as some earplugs or noise canceling headphones as the fans and ac are really noisy. We arrived pretty refreshed at Chiang Mai and managed to have a a full day of walking around after the trip. Didnt feel the need to catch up on sleep, and didnt feel that tired during the day. So as a night bus, it serves its purpose, even though it looks like it's coming straight out of the early 2000s, and rattles quite a lot.

Supposed to be VIP, but didn't feel more VIP than the Express bus I took on the way back. Even though the Express was a fair bit cheaper.
Aircon's in the back seatings could not be turned off, got quite cold there at night.

The bus wasn’t the one in the picture and there wasn’t any TV, snacks like mentioned. I’m 5’9 so it was very uncomfortable for a tall person but i got to sit up the front and i had my legs resting on the railing in front of me (i was on the top level) as i noticed the other people did it too on the other rows and i woke up to the bus driver smacking my legs down, i understand maybe that could be rude in their culture but no need to smack me while i was asleep.
On a positive note, it went a lot quicker than expected, close to 2 hours earlier than expected and i got driven to my hotel room which was great as we got to the station around 5am.
The workers at 12go are super helpful and so it wasn’t confusing at all which was great for a first time experience.
I would next time go for the more expensive VIP sleeper bus in future as it was very hard to sleep.

I didn’t sleep on the bus because it was so uncomfortable and the aircon blows into your face. Someone from the tourist service centre was so nice! Hi’s name was “pop”. First time I had such a nice and good conversation with a Thaï person.

Poorly organised bus services. Following arrival at pier, BBC did not clearly communicate with passengers. Passengers were advised that there would be a 10 minute wait, which increased to an hour without being told. Passengers went without food during the wait in case of missing bus however there was plenty of time. From the pier there was a mini van transfer to the bus depot, my husband and I were in the last row between luggage and had to climb over seats and sit with our knees up. Once we got to the depot, the bus was not as advertised. Old, no USB ports down stairs, WIFI was not available and no snack was provided. Again there was an hour wait at the depot which was advertised as 10 minutes. Poor communication, uncomfortable, chairs broken. Would avoid at all costs. The only reason I have scored a 2 is the ferry via SeaTran is prompt and comfortable.

Not a VIP buss at all, had way better buses on other trips in Thailand. The pickup was not in time, and it was a small van with non working AC completely full with other people, and was stuck for a couple of hours in that van, before next stop that only had water and chips as only option for food. And then another van again, complete full again, and then another stop and now it’s around 6 in the evening, nobody informs you about what’s going on. And here we had to stay for another hour and they only had two options of food which was laying in plastic boxes in the outside temperature.. and if you don’t want food poisoning you can’t eat that. And then finally a buss after more than half of the trip, also completely full, no possibility too charged your phone. One stop after that in the middle of the night, and then we arrived at 5:20 in Bangkok. All in all not a good experience, but we made it to Bangkok.

Travelling from Bangkok to Krabi with a 2.5 hour waiting time in Surat Thani because they waited for another bus, and then dropped us off at Krabi Bus Terminal instead of the Krabi Office (as booked).

The staff at the stop over and bus change weren't great, poor instructions and a lot of shouting. Very unorganized and we almost missed the coach.
The bus driver kept stopping to talk to friends meaning we were over 3 hours delayed.

No refreshments, no water, no meals as promised, but the buses were on time, with one break at Surat Thani, the staff was good and courteous, worth an adventure with ac bus, to save flight cost which was 8000 rs, and paid 2401 rs. Thanks

We ended up being 4 hours late to our destination with little communication on timings. The first bus was cramped, very hard to sleep in and we were only given a small bottle of water and a cake at the start which isn’t great for what ended up being a 20 hour journey!

Buses were on time and pretty comfortable, but communication was very poor. At the transfer point from the van to the bus, we had a 3h lay-over, which no one ever communicated. Also, they provided no informations about what stops there would be on the bus ride (toilet, store for water etc.) or about the setup of the bus.

The „VIP Bus“ is not what was shown during the booking. There had been 4 seats in a row, not 3 as shown. The bus was very old and dirty. The personnel was rather rude and had minor English skills.

The minibus driver for our 2 hour drive to the bus station made us all aware half way through that he was uncomfortable driving, he kept using eyedrops and swerving in the road. The whole bus felt really scared and nervous for the last hour of the journey.

I booked a vip bus to be comfortable to sleep during the journey and they did o erbook it so we ended up me and other people on little bench in the down part of the bus with the luggage.
Very uncomfortable and impossible to sleep. The toilet was also not usable.if I wanted this kind of experience I would have paid for a low cost ticket. The changes were fluent tho and quite well organized.

In Samui you’ll have someone giving you the ferry ticket approx. 30 min before the departure. If you wanna buy food or drinks before the night, do it in Samui : when you arrive at Surat Thani there’s directly a transfer before getting into the bus for the night (we waited for 20mim for the transfer to go because they wanted to make sure everyone was there, then 1h or so for the night bus to arrive). You cannot buy anything there.
Bus is like 25people, and you have a break around 0.30/1.00 for 30 min where you can buy drinks and food if you couldn’t at Surat Thani.
Still the best bus company for us for night travels.

The service in terms of getting our information, getting to the bus and transferring to our hotel was great however on the bus itself we had issues. Our seats were the third row from the back (two seats together) we firstly had very wobbly seats which we realised was due to a loose screw underneath the seats which could not be tightened. Secondly the outside seat recliner did not work so my friend had to sit upright for the whole journey which was not comfortable or enjoyable for her. The price we paid and the “VIP” standard was not reflected in this service due to the issue with the seats, a recliner seat should be in working condition or stated otherwise.

The beginning of the journey went well. After changing vehicles for my final destination, the driver asked me for money to take me to my hotel, even though it was supposed to be included in the fare, especially since we had already passed my hotel during the trip. I refused. He dropped us off in the city center.

They said the transfer waiting time at Surat Thani was 20 minutes. But it turned up to be 3.5 hours. I arrived to my destination almost 6 hours later than scheduled. Also the lady at the transfer station

The bus was late and also not in good condition, it looked like it was from the 1960s, most of the USB ports were broken, some seats could not be reclined, very little leg room. The staff was far from polite and professional. When we arrived at the place where we need to transfer to another bus the staff simply started screaming in the middle of the night and scared the living shit out of everyone on the bus that was asleep or half asleep. They were screaming everyone heading to Phuket get off here, when what they actually meant was Everyone needs to get off the bus so there was a lot if confusion due to bad communication on their end. The screaming staff was the worst I have ever encountered, and can just say if you travel with them don’t expect anything even close to the word of customer service
