I like the staff, they are all accommodating and friendly. The bunk beds are great specially in tourist area. The comfort rooms in ladies are great except that there are no tissue in the room, may be if you ask the staff they can provide, but who have time for that.

Our first time to ride a ferry. It was an hour late when it was announced that we could board already. I was asking the information where do we keep our luggages. The gentleman informed us that there is a place for our luggages. While we were boarding the ferry, we had a hard time carrying all our luggages all the way up to our bunk beds.Nobody from the crew informed us that we can store our luggages in the luggage stock room downstairs. Only to find out while we were about to board off, that the luggage stock room was downstairs. The crew were really so uncaring enough to kindly tell us that we can store our luggages down so that we won’t have a hard time carrying our heavy luggages upstairs. They really don’t care for the passengers.
Another thing was the linen. After an hour of waiting for the announcement re the availability of linen, we already fell asleep without the linen. How come they don’t give it asap or upon entering? Why do they have to wait tor an hour???
The toilet doesn’t have toilet paper all throughout the trip and it is very smelly and the floor was wet and dirty.
The packed meal was so funny. My daughter laughed when we opened it, we received a packed lunch with 4 tiny pieces of Lumpia amd 1 cup of rice??
There was no free water included Tiny meal was free but we have to buy our own water.

The ferry did not leave on time at 9pm. It left at 10pm. Cokaliong always leaves on time. The passengers were only allowed to enter the boat at 8:30pm. When in fact, they were instructed to be in the terminal 2 hours before. Cokaliong lets their passengers on the boat 2 hours before departure so they can rest early.
The tourist bunkbeds had no outlets for chargers. Cokaliong has outlets per bed.
The arrival in Surigao was delayed by 2 hours! The trip lasted for 12 hours. Not 10hours! Adding stress to the passengers. Cokaliong always arrives very early in Surigao. Always ahead of schedule. Never again Starlight!

It was a great way to avoid the late booking of a flight which would have been 5x this. I had a comfortable and safe journey - recommend you come tired so that you can sleep, and bring earplugs and an eyemask. Totally safe and viable if not long alternative to get around PH.

the only thing to improve are the instruction to get to the port ( pier4 does not say anything if everybody need to go to gate 3 first, hard and confusing also for the taxi driver
