If you ignore the rough tracks the train is driving on, it’s perfect. But thats everywhere the same. With a sleeping pill the time flies. Everything was good, other companies have nicer wagons, but it was clean and we got small bags with bananas and water. So all in all it’s good to travel with.

Very nice trip. The beds and room were tidy, blankets adequate. Nice free snacks and drinks.. Star of the trip was the scenery- Amazing. Toilet wasn't too scary by the journeys end. Hardest part was the confusion of checkin at Hanoi Train Station. But this was worked out by us and the rest was easy.

The train ride was typical, the compartment we were in had A/C and if you kept the door shut you could keep out the cigarette smoke smell, however it was infested with small cockroaches. If you have the option to take a sleeper bus instead I highly recommend that route.

As we arrived After 5pm we showed our Voucher to the Lady in charge of the announcements at the Train Station. She wrote the numbers 1 and 2 for our beds on it and told us that it was ok and that we should wait. The Train arrived 45 min. late. We had to Cross the Tracks for getting into our Coach no.9. The bedsheets were clean, but the Toilette very Dirty and no paper. We got just ohne bottle of water and no Snacks. There was no Information or announcements in English. I would not call this a luxurious VIP Train at all.

Brilliant Trip! Nothing like travelling in a train, beats a bus and plane and you get to meet and engage with other travellers, sleep, eat, view the countryside. If the journey is not just the destination, this is the way to travel, just Brilliant. Train was great, complementary drinks provided (bottle of Coke and water), steward service for most consumables, including a bottle of wine. Highly recommended.

Very clean. Also the toilet was clean. Very good value. No wake up in the morning. We had a good sleep. The beds a little bit hard. We can really recommend this company. The staff could be more flexible. We had the cabin for our selves , but we could not change to lower beth for both of us when we asked the staff.

We booked VIP First Class Sleeper. It's certainly not that. It was a very old train and the only thing that distinguished our comparment from the class below was a vase of very shabby red plastic flowers. Perhaps we were unlucky and got an old train but it's nothing like the picture on the website.
Also once you have made your booking it is absolutely impossible to contact 12GoAsia you want to ask questions or make changes, you just get in a loop on the website of previous questions and suggested responses and if it didn't answer your question the website sends you back to the beginning only to start all over again. Make sure your booking is correct as you won't be able to change it or get a refund.
Tip turn off loud speaker in your room there's an off switch above the door.

Always fun to sleep on a train and a great experience for our teenage son who hadn't been on a sleeper train before. But not sure I'd describe this as VIP. Very bumpy ride and only served snacks rather than a hot meal, some of which not included in package which we were only told after tucking in! Booking system not great either as we weren't able to get the train at time we wanted despite showing availability on website. Very unclear what was included in package so glad we ate well before boarding as we'd have been hungry just eating snacks on offer.

Overall, a fascinating experience. I left plenty of time and needed it to realise I had to change my emailed voucher for a proper train ticket. Not obvious and communication difficult but managed it. My train had changed from SE4 to SE2 but worked out OK. Not the most comfortable ride and the toilets awful. But I’m glad I did ithis journey and it was a time efficient way to travel.

Timely departure and clean VIP Sleeper. Even toilet was kept clean during the travel. Beds were not very comfortable, very hard. And complementary breakfast could have rather been skipped.

Nice clean cabin, and water and snacks which we weren’t expecting! Exchanging your vouchers at Checkin wasn’t very obvious, people at desks weren’t very helpful when we went earlier on, a parry from saying come back later. Essentially you need to arrive 1hr before the train departure time and then you’ll need to find the checkin person who has your tickets who will be hanging around the Checkin desk area.
Once on the train, we settled in fine. Was noisy until about 2:30am so don’t count on getting a great nights sleep but wasn’t a surprise for us (our kids slept through it fine but yours may not). All in all we thought it was fine for the price, about $75 each for a 4 berth VIP Livtrans cabin between Hanoi and Hue)

It was possibly ge worst train trip I’ve ever taken, that’s a lot coming from me as I’m a tour leader on the Trans Mongolian Railway!
It was ok at first although very hot in the cabin. The worst part was at night the air conditioner kept going on and off. When it was off it was like a sauna and when it was on it was like camping in antartica! I spent half the night sleeping with a jumper on and the other half in as little as possible. Sorry sleeping would imply I actually got some sleep. I would amend that to trying to sleep!

The train was a lot better than we had anticipated. I had read reviews staying it was difficult to exchange tickets at the station, however when we arrived there was a lady who directed us into our cabin (a VIP livitrans 4-sleeper) that we would be sharing with two others. We were very lucky as the train was empty, so one of the staff asked us if we would like to move to another cabin free of charge, which we had to ourselves - a very welcome surprise! The airconditioning was very strong, so I would recommend bringing along a jumper/extra blanket as it can get quite uncomfortably cold. The beds were quite hard, but comfortable enough. The toilets were as expected of train travel, although the staff did make an effort to clean these regularly - just take tissues with you just in case. We didn’t try any of the food from the food cart, but highly recommend bringing your own snacks. Overall a pleasant trip - if you take some headphones to drown out the sound and a jumper to keep you warm, you can get a decent nights sleep and enjoy some amazing views. Would recommend over flying.

Talking about the volume of the train is unecessary as this is not the domain of the Livitrains. It was clean,comfortable (I recomend upper bed!). Everything was ok,exept of the changing of the ticket. It is not as we thought. We were there waiting at the train station,as at the reception they constantly said we have to wait...at one moment an agent or some worker just stepped to my boyfiend and pushed some bill-like tickets to his hands and left. We didn't understand this,as the number of passport was not ours stated on the ticket. After a while the same people at the reception showed us that this are the tickets,the passport number is irrelevant. Otherweise the couch itself was fine.

Overall good night train for vietnamese standards, but people were definitely smoking inside by the smell of it. We had a lot of trouble getting the station and train staff to understand our voucher which we showed on the phone screen, but they were ok with it at the end. Toilets were awful and aircon was way too high as any other train in Vietnam. The views in the morning were stunning though

As safe, reliable and cheap(ish) way to get from Hanoi to Hue this couldn't be faulted. The train was on time, the berths comfortable and the linen clean. I'm not sure what some of the other negative reviewers on this site were expecting? Of course it wasn't a 5 star bedroom - its a train! - but we had no trouble sleeping, bed was comfortable and the rocking carriage probably helped us off to sleep, rather than keeping us awake.
Two small quibbles: (1) when we arrived 60 mins before departure the friendly cabin steward had no record of our booking, but found us a couple of berths anyway. And (2) when I booked with 12Go Asia a month ago they couldn't honour my preferred journey so booked this alternative before I'd confirmed it because "with so few berths left we did not want to risk being unable to complete the booking". Yet the young German couple who shared our compartment had only booked the day before and paid 40% less than us.
That said, this was still great value and good trip.

The train ride has spectacular views of the coast line coming into DaNang, the staff are great, very polite - check your tickets though as we paid a lot for what we thought was the whole cabin but we were sharing!! Not sure why we paid extra.

Very pleased with service from 12Go. No problems with tickets and we were shown directly to our births at Hanoi Station. However the very efficient air conditioning in our carriage and a single thin cover made it a very cold night. Some other carriages had extra covers but when we tried to get some we were told there were none. This could possibly be because the train staff had them all!! Toilets grim, facilities poor and no coffee on offer so bring your own. Disappointing as we had paid twice as much for the Livitrans carriage and it didn't look any better than the cheaper ones.

Hanoi to Hue, couldn't sleep due to loudness and shocking of the train. Cockroaches crawling on the wall (was warned of this beforehand though, so no big surprise). Toilet was fine.

Our second trip and as highlighted in earlier reviews some minor confusion when boarding. Our voucher stated train SE2 when we were actually travelling on SE4. Guards speak no English, but fortunately someone came to our help and gave us tickets albeit that they were issued in other people's names. However, all turned out ok. The carriages were swept and cleaning linen and food (pot noodle) and water provided. Best part of the trip from HCMC to Hanoi was the coastal route from Da Nang to Hue. Glad we have done the trip, but probably won't repeat it.

There was nothing VIP about the cabin the bed is hard like a rock and the train is very bumpy also there was a light right above your head

Even though we originally booked 2 lower births in a cabin. After a couple of stops the guard insisted that I moved to the upper birth to allow a lady to have the lower one. But the upper birth was comfortable once I had managed to get up there. The guard knocked on the door to let us know that our station was next and directed us to our exit.

The 4 berth on Livi is not as good as the 2 berth on Vietnam rail. Random people come in and out for different stops and the cabin door is a bit loose rattling on every move. The Livi operator just came and disappeared. No wifi available

Nothing like VIP … the place is just basic, not clean. The staff at the station was not aware of this kind of reservation. After 15 minutes and calling someone they gave me a ticket with a different coach number … don’t expect much… if you want a VIP treatment, book a premium car not the train!

The Staff are very helpful, my friend and I had the 4x vip sleeper to ourselves which made things a lot more comfortable! We both slept on and off, you kind of get use to the swaying and stopping and starting motion, it’s a little noisy so take ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper

Bathrooms were disgusting, my cabin was nice and clean, but one woman was complaining of roaches in hers. It was an ok experience. Train was bumpy so was unable to get a good nights rest, but it could have been worse.

Het was niet duidelijk dat ik een man moest zoeken die mij het trein kaartje zou geven. Zeer onduidelijk!! De man was ook niet te herkennen, gewoon paars T-shirt. Met toeval op het laatste moment gevonden. Zeer stressvol

We travelled with Livitrans and on the voucher, there was written that the paper itself is a boarding pass. But the staff did not let us in. Luckily, we asked a lady in the near bistro (she was surprised as we were) and she called someone else who came with our tickets. It was one big chaos! The staff in the trained asked us if we want tea or coffee in the morning, but in the morning, they wanted us to pay for it. For comparison - from Hanoi to Lao Cai, we used Fanxipan Express and the morning refreshment was for free, beds were longer and air condition was fine. Air condition in Livitrans was really cold - people sleeping downstairs had to sleep in jackets and hats!

We had a voucher four four people in a 4 person VIP sleeper. I went to the station the day before to try to get the actual tickets with cabin numbers but was told to return a half an hour before the train. We arrived an hour before and were told to wait and then someone ushered us through to the train with just the voucher. He was a helpful employee with no English but he got us to our cabin. The cabin looked fine but the teenage girls with us were freaked out by three different bugs going up the wall. Air con was nice and cold. It is great to leave from city centre in HCMC and arrive into the city centre of Nha Trang. We didn't see much scenery because we went overnight but previously enjoyed good views on longer routes. The toilets were very basic but functional.

Sleeper car looked absolutely nothing like the pictures and the cabin was clearly much, much older! However, linen was clean, room was also quite clean and had enough space for all the luggage. Air con was ultra high (which was okay for most, but got a bit too cold overnight). Train left and arrived on time. Was expecting (based on previous reviews)horrible toilets, but they were, actually, very normal!

I had a very nice trip on the train. The cabin was very clean and the attention was great. Very comfortable with AC. We left and arrived perfectly on time. Very good experience!

VIP x 4 sleeper was not as expected. Reasonably clean however loads of bugs everywhere including small cockroaches. 2 free bottles of water but no snacks. Mixed male and female and train ran almost an hour late. My standards were never high to begin with but this was slightly lower than expected. Also train does not just stop at Da Nang but multiple stops. Ensure to ask when you are arriving at your destination and set an alarm to wake you up around that time. It would be easy to miss your stop.

Not sure if the fault here lies with 12goasia or livitrans. As per many other reviews on tripadvisor this did not seem to be a livitrans service but a standard vnr train. Whilst I’m not bothered by this and the train was fine it was not as advertised and the communication about how to pick up tickets was awful. Just so people know you exchange the voucher at the desk in Da Nang station for your tickets...
