Train ride was as described. Tickets were delivered to our hotel for free as promised. Train did not have a dining car so it was a good thing we brought our own snacks. Train actually arrived on time. Overall an interesting adventure.

Delivery of actual train tickets was prompt.
We were put in Cabin D with another couple from Belgium, so it wasn't a lonely night.
As I have done my research, I knew I had to bring longyi to cover myself. The operation did give pillow and sheet, but it's very random, some bed have, and some beds don't.
Make sure to download an off-line map to know whereabouts I am, as the announcement was in Burmese.
It was an experience that is enough, just for once. Won't do it again. I use my own scarf to cover. BTW Cabin F is more private as there are only 2 beds.

12 go Asia are terrible but I finally got the ticket only 12 hours before the train.
Use BOOKAWAY instead. A far better service. Unlike twelve go asia, BOOKAWAY offers excellent and prompt service and a way to contact the company should you need or want to. Tickets came through very quickly with BOOKAWAY but too close for stress free travel with 12 go asia.

I love train travel and always take the option when available. I’m glad I had this experience. I was prepared in understanding the conditions. However be aware, it is the most violent train ride you’ll ever take. Similar to driving high speed over speed bumps while trying to sleep.

Der Preis auf der Seite ist total überteuert meiner Meinung nach. Das Zugticket kostet nur 4000 Kyat und kann ohne Probleme einen Tag im voraus oder am gleichen Tag am Bahnhof gekauft werden.

The train is quite horrible. There are no real beds, everything is quite disgusting. Very expensive for what it is. You nearly cannot talk or walk because of the movement of the train and the noise. Careful at night, no lights or windows closed because in 5 minutes it will be full of bugs.
The two stars is for the experience. I will probably always remember it. I will always remember the sunset and sunrise and the kids walking along the tracks. I will always remember the feeling of dread thinking I was going to die in the next minute by the train falling.

Additionally, the train was terible, hot and dirty. The real price of the ticket was 4000 kyats while It was increased 4 times by 12 go asia.

1. The online price is much difference to the local office.
2. The train is not to good which shake too much. You can’t sleep during your trip.
3. I prefer to use bus next time rather than taking this train.
4. The train is very old school; dirty and some insects.
Conclusion, It’s good to explore something new, but for the next time i will take a night bus. It

Everybody was really Nice and helpful. From the 12go helpcentre, lady who gave us the tickets and the personal on the platform and the train. The train was clean and we slept okey.

Ticketing service from 12go.asia was very responsive and efficient. The train journey was slow but interesting and enjoyable. The train left and arrived on time, which I think is quite exceptional in Myanmar!

Excellent service - my tickets were delivered to my respective hotels in Mandalay and Bagan 1 day prior to departure, with an email notification to ask for them at the reception - so, even being an inexperienced traveller you feel you are taken good care of.

This company is great and would use them again. I've booked through them for Thailand and Myanmar, but would not recommend the train from Bagan to Mandalay. Our sleeper cabin was full of mosquitoes, very cold and we arrived 3 hours late. I've traveled a fair amount in SE Asia and even by the prevailing standards this was rough.
None of this is a reflection on 12GO, because they delivered the tickets right to our hotel and answered any questions we had. In Thailand they kept our tickets waiting with someone when we were delayed in picking them up. Our sleeper train to Chaing Mai was quite satisfactory and I'd recommend that to anyone.
So 5 stars to 12GO and 1 star to train experience in Myanmar. The rest of the country was well worth the trip though. Happy travels in 2019!!

Probably better to take a day train for sightseeing. The night train departs at 21:00 and arrives in Bagan very early at 5 a.m. Also very cold during the night. Can't sleep well.

Would recommend this when it's a bit cooler (I did it at the end of March when it was 37C). For a narrow gauge train on questionable track, it goes quite fast, so the ride ia very lively!

We took the Bagan-Yangon train.
There is a sleeping car available, although it is not listed on 12go.asia. You must book an upper-class seat, then email 12go.asia support to request a sleeping car if one is available and pay an extra charge. If enough people book the sleeper, it will be available, if not there will be no sleeper and you will get a refund and tickets for upper-class seats.
The sleeper car we took was rather incredible, in some surprising and not always pleasant ways. It was really rather dirty, because the windows are open (because it is hot, you want them open), there is lots of dust (and leaves, bugs, etc) entering. I would avoid the journey if you have respiratory issues (or wear a dust mask). The sleeping car has two sections, and the door between can be opened so if you have more friends, they can be communication, or complete separation. Each half sleeps four people. There is one fixed upper bunk on each side, and below there are four chairs which convert into a hard, lumpy bed. It was not connected to the other cars, so there is no way to visit the restaurant car or walk down the isle. Only when the train is stopped at the station can you exit the car. At this time, the attendants will come to check on you and take your food orders (plate of food 4000mmk, beer 3500 mmk, water/tea/coffee 1000mmk). The train infrastructure is old, so it is an expectedly slow and bumpy journey. Before the journey began they announced an arrival at 11:30am instead of 9:30am; perhaps it should be considered that this is the new "scheduled" arrival time, since it is consistent with other's experiences.

Unser Sleeper-Abteil war einfach nur schmutzig. Die letzte Reinigung muss Jahre her sein. Das Essen das im Zug angeboten wird ist grenzwertig, sowohl die Qualität als auch die Sauberkeit. Landschaftlich kriegt man schon sehr viel mehr mit als wenn man mit Bus/Flugzeug reisen würde. Dies ist das einzige Plus. Sonst eher nur für Hardcore-Turis zu empfehlen. Wir würden die Reise mit diesem Zug nicht mehr machen.

The train left Yangon exactly on time, but due to maintenance work on the tracks we arrived about two hours later than scheduled. The seats were comfortable and the sights are great. I would do the trip any time again and even though it takes much longer than by bus, it’s worth it.
The ordering and pickup of the tickets worked exactly as planned and the lady at the agency was very friendly.

This was a 15 and a half hour train journey which I had planned.
As far as the journey itself, it went without a hitch. Trouble free. All staff were very friendly and helpful.
The seating was a little basic but “Upper Class” was the way to travel as the seats were recliners and cushioned unlike standard seating so well worth the little extra cost.
The whole journey was the experience I had expected and apart from being a little unsteady on my feet for a few hours after, it was a great and different way to see a bit of Myanmar.

Everything went fine. After arriving in Yangon by flight we went to the fabulous luxurious Hotel Strand for beakfast and left our luggage in the story (even though we didn´t have a bookung for that hotel!). After breakfast we walked (30 min) to the travel-agency Pegu-Travel (new adress, a bit hard to find!) and got our train-tickets for the night train to Mandalay (17:00 sleeper, 16h). The train was great adventure!!! 4 people in a sleeper compartement, toilet available, super loud and rumeling night, but emazing! you can sleep when you are dead!

We booked the high lux chairs. Train left on time, arrived 1 1/2 hours later, which is OK. A lot of insects due to open windows, which is also OK, they didn't bugged us much. The chairs where comfortable and very spacy, the view from the window wonderful. The only annoying thing was that the attendant tricked us into having dinner and breakfast, making us think it was in the ticket price, and than charged us. Food was quite expensive for Myanmar standards, although still cheap for European standards. The walk through the other wagons was an experience on its own. On the intermediate stations we watched people unloading ox-powered wooden carts with wooden wheels. This scene from the agricultural revolution blew our minds!

Very good service. Tickets are of course more expensive than buying direct, but using 12go meant that we were certain we would get tickets. It would be better if the tickets could have been delivered to our hotel in Yangon, but overall we were pleased we used 12go.

So.... first class sleeper in Myanmar is not what you'd see elsewhere in the world. Take a jacket or extra blanket and pack snacks. The sleeper is not assessed from the rest of the train.... I'd do it again I. A heartbeat, just better prepared.

2 berth sleeper was ok but train very noisy, rattling & shaky. Train broke down, didn’t move for 5 hours, then finally 7 hours late on arrival. No information or communication provided at all. No apology.

The train left on time and arrived in Bagan at 11am. The 12go arrival time of 9.30 is incorrect.
We booked all 4 berths and had lots of room. Watch out for people selling food for the journey on platform - they are charming but try to charge far too much. We ordered sweet and sour chicken with fried rice from the official train steward who advised we would get it at 7pm and sure enough we arrived at a station and the food was handed to us. It was very tasty and plenty for 2 people - cost 6,000 kyat.
We enjoyed the journey through the countryside and slept reasonably well. A pillow and sheet are provided. As it got cooler we switched off the fan. For security during the night we closed the windows and doors.
The toilet facilities were fine - take own toilet paper. There was some water to ‘flush’ with.
All in all a trip well worth doing

We elected to pick up our tickets at the office. It was very hard to find. The directions were not accurate, and when we finally find it we were sent to another office down the street. Very frustrating and unprofessional. The train ride was just as described.

A must do once trip !. Not much sleep with the rocking and noise but what a way to see the countryside. Food good, though a little expensive for what is was. Toilet was basic , it’s all you need.
