Food was banging, one things for sure you’re not going to be hot for much longer once you’re on it. Everyone had sweet leg space except our seats but that was just unlucky us I think. The guy drives like that terminator 2 scene was pretty mad aaand no one told us that we had gone through Nong Khai so had to get pay a 500 baht for a tuk tuk back haha but yeah not end of the world just stay on the ball with your stops and try not to sit at the front

The small fee paid to book train tickets on line in advance was well worthwhile, as it saved a trip to the station to do this in person. Although the time of departure meant we needed to visit the 12Go office the day before our journey to collect the tickets from them, there was no hanging around. These tickets can sell fast so booking a week (or earlier) in advance seemed sensible. Really pleased with service we received!

Excellent service from 12Go, very efficient and helped me upgrade to first class sleeper the day before travel with sole occupancy. The train/ cabin was modern but the cabin had cochroaches running everywhere.....some fumigation is heavily suggested. Just as well I had the cabin to myself .....very, very small and cramped with nowhere to put baggage. Sharing with a stranger would have been awkward and uncomfortable

Bus departure & arrival is on time and bus dropped me off at Thai-Lao border which is good for me since i do not need to take tuktuk or taxi anymore from Nong Khai bus station to the border. I like that the bus provide blanket since it gets really cold inside the bus. They also provide a small bottle of water, small pack of cookies, and a rice meal. What i don't like is the toilet inside the bus stinks. You can smell the stinky urine all over the bus even the strong air conditioner on. Next time i need to go Nong Khai i will use this bus company again.

Morchit bus station is huge and chaotic, but people are rather helpful and i didn't have a problem finding my bus. The bus was amazing, seats are huge and you can lean them back quite far. I booked the front seat so had a lot of extra leg room too. We came to the destination point like 30min before the planned time. The only cons i can think of is that it was FREEZING (but they do give you a blanket) and wi fi didnt work (didn't bother me as i had data anyway).

The train trip was good with only a few minor issues. The cabins are very cold so you need more than the blanket they give you to keep warm and as others have said the mattress is really hard. The food was just okay and can add up, we paid $1380 Baht for 2 dinners with fruit and 2 breakfasts with coffee, if we did it again I would take our own food. Other than that the trip was good and both border crossings were easy as only about 30 tourists came off the train into Laos.

I was unhappy with the minibus being late to take us to the bus. Then we dropped off some passengers at another bus station which made the journey long and tiring before I even got on the bus to Nongai. The sister met me at the bus station and took me to the Thai border on a motorbike. When I offered her a tip she refused. Luckily I had a backpack and not a case. The rest of the journey was uneventful though the Laotian Visa officials are slow. Maybe they don't want tourists. The whole journey was an adventure for a 73 year old.

1st class cabin on Bangkok-Nong Khai train is excellent. The only downside is that the beds are rather hard. Another layer of foam bedding would be useful. It would also be useful if the train left Bangkok an hour later, meaning a more practical arrival time at the Thailand-Laos border at about 7.45am. 12GO appears to have done a very reliable job in arranging tickets.

Nice and easy ride. Bunks are a bit short but wide so not an issue (I'm 170 cm). You get a bedsheet and pillow and they make the 'bed' for you. You can buy food on the train but it's a bit expensive so we brought our own. No complaints and would do it again.

Booked the bus to Vientiane from Bangkok, the journey to Nong Khai was comfortable but we were not dropped off at the bus station as informed, the bus staff dropped us at a bus shelter by the border crossing, this resulted in us paying 100baht for a Tuk Tuk to take us to the correct location where we met the tour operators sister and received our bus tickets for the next leg of the journey. The tour operator said there would be no other fee from Nong Khai to Laos and was telling us to return to Thailand, after stamping out of the country???, to continue on the bus to Vientiane??? On the bus ticket information it said to continue the journey by bus from Laos immigration point, no such bus and the phone number provided for staff was not accessible. We and the other bus passengers again had to pay an additional 160baht to get to Vientiane.
