Quelles sont les classes et prix de train de Thai Railways ?
En fonction de la durée de votre voyage et de vos préférences, vous pouvez choisir un billet de première ou de deuxième classe, dans un wagon-couchette pour un voyage de nuit, ou opter pour un siège rigide ou souple si ces options sont disponibles. Notez que le choix des classes de billets dépend à la fois de l'itinéraire et de la durée de votre voyage. En principe, votre train peut comporter des couchettes de première classe, mais vous ne pourrez pas en réserver une si vous ne faites qu'un court trajet de deux heures. En général, les couchettes de seconde classe sont un bon choix pour les longs voyages, et les sièges souples sont adaptés si votre trajet en train est censé durer moins de 4 ou 5 heures.

Avantages du Voyage en Train
- L’avantage principal du voyage en train est l'absence d'embouteillages. Et cela même aux heures de pointe, pendant les longs week-ends ou la haute saison.
- Le processus de réservation en ligne est facile - vous n'avez pas besoin de vous rendre à la gare, alors que c’était encore le cas il n'y a pas si longtemps !
- Les prix des billets de train sont généralement plus abordables que ceux des billets d'avion, mais pour certaines destinations et certains voyages, la durée totale du trajet peut être presque la même.
- Si le voyage en train est évidemment plus lent que le voyage en avion, les gares sont souvent situées au centre de la ville, ce qui vous fait gagner beaucoup de temps pour vous y rendre et en revenir, alors que les aéroports sont presque toujours très éloignés de la ville.
- Voyager de nuit vous permet d'économiser une nuit d'hôtel et de bien dormir - contrairement à un bus de nuit où même la classe couchette reste un compromis.
- Sur certaines lignes, un service de luxe est disponible.
Inconvénients du Voyage en Train
- Pour les voyages les plus longs, le train prend définitivement plus de temps que l’avion.
- Les trains suivent des horaires, mais des retards sont possibles - et ces retards peuvent être énormes, donc si vous prévoyez une correspondance avec un vol, vérifiez soigneusement l'heure d'arrivée de votre train à la gare et réfléchissez-y à deux fois.
- La propreté est parfois un problème en deuxième et troisième classe, ainsi que dans les toilettes.
- Si votre train fait beaucoup d'arrêts, il est parfois difficile de savoir quand descendre car les arrêts ne sont pas toujours clairement annoncés ou signalés, sauf si un écran électronique est disponible.

Expérience a vivre une fois mais pas forcément a refaire.
J'ai l'habitude de voyager et réussis a dormir partout mais la c'était très compliqué, le confort étant presque inexistants.
Prochaine fois, je prendrais l'avion ;-)

It's really nice to just relax and sleep while traveling. They could be better about notifying passengers when they've arrived at a stop. Overall for the price, a great way to go long distance.

Ondanks dat we een vertraging hadden van 8 uur omdat voor ons op het spoor een ongeluk was gebeurd is de reis me prima bevallen.
Iedereen was gemoedelijk. Er werd zelfs voor (gratis) eten en drinken gezorgd door de lange vertraging.
Nadeel lampen blijven aan en het is heel koud in de trein.

Der Zug war pünktlich. Iwie war es ein Abenteuer und auch gemütlich. Zumindest im unteren Bett. Für den Preis definitiv die coolere Art zu reisen anstatt sich in ein Flugzeug zu setzen.

Clean cheap fast and efficient. We did the overnight train from Bangkok to the border of Laos. We treated ourselves to the private sleeper room, Because in America, this is expensive to ever do.
It was so nice. They had the beds are already made and even though obviously it’s a small room it’s enough space to put your bags underneath the bed and stretch out and staring out at the
Passing countryside and towns. I kind of wish we had taken a 10 hour trip during the day so there was stuff to watch. But this was a night train. Everyone was very quiet and we were actually able to get to sleep. Clean blankets, and linens. I read online that they have towels for the shower, but we did not see that so I did not use the shower, which is communal him down the end of the train car.
We bought the tickets with 12Go, and wish it was that easy to get the tickets for the Lao/China railway. But we couldn’t figure that out so later took a hellride minibus 10 hours from Vientiene to Luang Prabang. I do not recommend that - figure out those train tickets.
I walked through the entire train to get to the dinercar, and the second class sleeper area actually quite nice too. It’s private little curtains for everyone to sleep.
I would love to travel this way again.

At first it looked fine. Bed was soft and you had enough space. But when the train started, everything moved so much, there was no way you could sleep like that. We did not sleep unfortunately.

It was so damn cold. It felt like 16-17 degrees. However, I slept like a Baby. And such a night train is just awesome from a time Perspective (not Llosing too much). Would do again.
We will just remember to put on some more cloth.
Oh and better ask for the prices of food and beverages on the train. They are quite expensive.

Ik heb deze trein al vaker genomen van bangkok naar chaing mai en andersom. Ongeveer 4/5 keer totaal.
Elke keer prima ervaring mer 12go nooit problemen. De trein zelf is altijd op tijd en schoon. Personeel in de trein is heel vriendelijk. Het enige nadeel is de airco die hard blaast.
Tevens was het voor mij niet mogelijk om een digitale ticket te krijgen. Het ophalen bij het hoofdkantoor in bangkok is helaas ook een nadeel

The train is very old, toilet were a little dirty, especially in the morning time. The light was on all night!!! The service was ok, my son slept good, me- not so much...

Me and my friend really wanted to take the class A private cabin. Already paid for it and suddenly got a msg saying train only left with upper berth. Its always full. Very disappointed. The curtain for the bed was dusty, my nose was itchy the whole time. Oh ya and the aircond was too damn cold triggered my sinus even more. No lights-off, it was too bright at night made it hard for some people to sleep. At least dim the light a little.
I did get a good sleep bcos of the mattress, blanket and the pillow was really comfortable. I would ride this train again hopefully get to experience the class A private or at least the female coach.

Jeg havde booket en underkøje (da jeg er dårligt gående) men da jeg skulle hente billetterne på 12goasia´s kontor var der sket en fejl så der var istedet booket en overkøje. Og der var ikke flere underkøjer ledige. Fik kun en beklagelse men ikke kompensation. Virkelig dårlig kundeservice.

The Service of 12goasia was brilliant.
I booked a lower bed but there was only a upper bed free. And I choosed the upper bed. But, don't take this option. Yow have no window.
And for the local 12goasia team in the DOB building. The restaurant service at the night train operates the first time on 7.12.22. So it is open now.

Ein Absolut geiles Erlebnis. Jedem wirklich zu empfehlen, muss man mal gemacht haben(Schlafwagen Aircon 2Kl). Im Zug zu schlafen war kein Problem , auch wenn die Fahrt ruppig war. Man bekommt ein Laken und ist selbst mit Shorts vor der Klimaanlage gut geschützt. Mit Schlafmaske, Ohropax und eventuell Reisekaugummis seid ihr bestens vorbereitet. Essen wird euch auch im Zug verkauft für kleines Geld.

We booked the #32 to depart Hat Ya 17:45 for Bangkok, This was one of the ‘newer’ trains. It was at the platform about 16:30 so plenty of time to sit on it and relax prior to departure. We only booked 4 days in advance and 12Go ensured the tickets were ready for us to collect in the parcel room at Hat Yai station on the day of travel. The parcel room operator knew exactly what/who we were the minute walked through the door so I’m guessing they have this a lot! (The parcel room is just to the left hand side of platform 1). The trip back to Bangkok took 18.5 hours in the end , I think it should have been about 17.5, not an issue for us really. We purchased enough food before we left Hat Yai for the duration of the trip as on a previous route (Bangkok to Chiang Mai) the food service hadn’t reopened since covid so thought the same for this. In the morning (from about 7am) staff did walk up and down offering various snacks so I guess they’re trying to some kind of food service back on track. Just remember if you want a lye in in the morning, don’t let the conductor see your awake otherwise they’ll try and pack the bed down as early as they can! Although some of the announcements are made in English for the stops, the staff walking up/down the isle generally only talk in Thai so it’s not easy to know what they’re saying half the time but didn’t really effect us. Overall it was a good experience again and I’d recommend it if you want a cheaper way to travel back up north.

Pleasantly surprised by the journey considering the horror stories you hear. Beds were turned down at 8pm and there wasn't too much noise after. Only complaint is the lights were left on and being on the top bunk it was very bright.

Everything super smooth. First Class Sleeper cabins are awesome, though I was impressed by 2nd Class cabin too, only a curtain for privacy but hey you're sleeping anyway!

But one thing to critique, perhaps beyond your control. Why do you put all farang into the same train carriage? There were almost no Thais in the same carriage! Does Thailand's national railway network not believe in farang and Thais being allowed to mix?

Enjoyable ride for the most part. I paid for 2nd class ac seats but the first part of the trip was a little too warm in the cab until we figured out there were ceiling fans to turn on. That made it more enjoyable until the ceiling fan got stuck and only blew on the other side. Overall trip was fine.

Getting the ticket from 12go was a good experience. They answered all my quieries. Getting the ticket from Hatyai office was also a pleasant experience. Train ride in 1st class was definitely a very different experience from the usual 2nd class sleeper. This will be my preferred choice of travelling in the future if we ever take this train again.

The service from 12Go was excellent, the lady in the ticket office in Hua Lamphong was very helpful. I recommend using Google maps to find the office if you need to pick up tickets. We were given one small water on the train and our bed was made up around 8-8.30pm, the lady in the ticket office warned us there was no food or drink sold on the train so we came prepared, the train got to our destination an hour late which was expected.

I was pleased with my trip. Before the journey, my concerns were overcrowding, a sleepless night, having to set up the berth myself, and hunger. But my fears were unfounded. The train was uncrowded, I slept comfortably in a cozy berth, and a male attendant set up the berths himself. I was never hungry nor thirsty, because there were a lot of hawkers boarding the train from time to time to sell foodstuff. I now know that Thai Railways made sure it's passengers would be satisfied.
