Barato & Bueno no será Rápido. (p.ej. trenes VIP en Tailandia)
Rápido & Bueno no será Barato.

We had booked our return for 8 am, after an hour wait they told us that the bus would be two hours late. We had our day planned in Hanoi and couldn't waste two hours due to irresponsible planning from the bus company. We got a sleeper bus instead which was cheaper and much more comfortable than this "luxury" van.

A bit expensive than actual price but it makes sure that I will have a lower bed. The train departs exactly on time. I got coach no. 5 which has good decoration in purple color. Make sure you book room away from toilet. Some time people don't know that the toilet door need to be locked after use. They let the door open and it will be bumped all along the way and keep waking you up.

Would have been 5* only it didn’t leave on time. It was supposed to leave at 3pm but we left at 3.10, then went to pick up 2 people in their hotel who weren’t ready, and then we returned back to the meeting point to pick up a further more 2 people (I’m guessing they merged our van with someone else’s due to it not being full). We left Sapa at 3.35pm and arrived 30 minutes late, at 8.30pm. Driver was great, stopped for us twice, and dropped us off where we wanted. Seats were comfy and the journey was seemless.

Better ride than our first trip thankfully as I was seriously considering cancelling and finding an alternate travel company. Much safer driving from this driver. The only negatives were the van was not as nice - stained seats and something sticky and gross on the seatbelt. Also the seat poor man's seat in front of me was broken - every time we hit a bump at speed, the back of his seat flew backwards.

We had heard lots of negative stories about the sleeper train, but King Express surpassed our expectations. It was clean and comfortable. We paid for a two berth cabin which we thought was worth the expense to have our own private space. Toilet wasn't great but better than expected. For value for money I think the Sapa Express limousine bus is a better option - quicker, cheaper and by travelling during the day you get to spend the night in a bed that's not moving anywhere.

Van was overcrowded as most reviews say. First come first serve... Driver had made a stop elsewhere first "not the stated stop the rest of us were waiting at" and picked up 4 locals, so us other 4 westerners were forced to fight over remaining "prime seats". Then the Driver wouldn't even let me eat my crisp in the van, "sorry tourist, no food!" Is what I got. The big buses are a better option. Way more comfortable but takes a little longer. Plus you can eat and drink as you desire with a guilt free reclined assigned seat.

Departure time was shifted to 13:00 instead of 13:15. As time of arrival 19:00 was given in the booking but they already know it takes longer because they do a 30min stop on the way. Water was distributed and a snack as well - which was great :) the staff was very friendly as well. sadly, there were not pillows for everyone, the blankets were really dirty and the toilet offered no paper. After the 30min break one guy told us to go on the bus and at the same moment, the bus departed and 5 people ran after it in hope the bus would let them in. That was scary, since they didn't tell us sooner to go back. They just told us when the bus was already leaving.

The cabin was very clean and the bed was comfortable and they provided snacks and water, the train trip was a bit bumpy but that was expected.

Cabin was well cleaned and in decent conditions, bedsheets were good. The whole coach was terribly cold. Cabin had no room for luggage. Toilets had no water and were flooded.

Service was excellent. A literal red carpet laid out for Sapaly Express passengers, with a staff checking in on us before moving off. Cleanliness of the common facilities was also as expected. Great service was let down by the poor environment. Excessive swaying at night (not Sapaly Express' fault as that is how the train tracks are), coupled with the hit-and-miss air-conditioning which seemed to work for only 5 minutes every hour made it difficult to get a good night's rest. All in all: An experience. But as with all experiences, once is enough.

This was our return trip by train from Sapa to Hanoi and, of course, we compared the experience to the first trip. First, we did not understand why they put the AC to maximum. The temperature outside was fine, no need of AC. More annoying was the fact that we asked 3 staff to turn it off - before we left Sapa. They all said yes (or something which we thought was an approval) but no one did nothing about it. I asked again later and the lady looked through me as if I was talking to a ghost. The linen was averagely washed, some stains on it. Plus, the blanked was coming out of the cover. The toiled was quite dirty.

Contrary to the hanoi - sapa trip, the return trip was great. We were in a violet couch and had a good aircon, soft beds and it was quiet accept for the rattling of the train. We enjoyed it.

great driver: didn't honk 1 time the whole trip from sapa to hanoi!! picked us up at hotel exactly on time, avoided the dog on the highway & all other dangers along the winding roads just outside sapa. very save driver, made good time & put us right in front of the hotel in hanoi!

Train was to schedule and everything was good. The only issue I had was that someone was smoking in the cabin next to ours or the next one over. But it felt like they were smoking right beside me because the smell was so strong, so it was a little hard to sleep while that was happening. It would be nice if there was a designated non-smoking coach car to guarantee that this wouldn’t happen.

It was what I expected. The rooms and beds were clean and relatively comfortable. The journey is a bit shaky and jolting due to the tracks but was to be expected and overall I would do it again. I managed to sleep most of the night.

The cabin was clean, but the other passengers stole our refreshments. We were blamed for it and were forced to give up the water we'd bought the day before. I was afraid we'd get kicked off the train! The staff was very rude after that exchange, and the people with whom we were sharing a berth were as well. Alao, the bathroom was disgusting as some of the "water" had sloshed out during the trip. We had to walk over the staff sleeping on the floor. Shouldn't they get beds, for goodness' sake?! Oh well. I wasn't expecting the Ritz, but come on...

The train conducter wouldn’t let us board the train. He said we didn’t have the right tickets. He sent us away, he wanted us to go buy or get other tickets. Luckily we met someone at the train station who could help us. (nobody werking in the train station spoke any English) She said the Violette Train Express always has this same kind of trouble because they have another sort of tickets then the other train services.

The bus is quite comfy if you are not very tall person. They don't let you have any food inside. We used it to go to Sapa and then back to Hanoi. On the way back there was no WC on the bus even though there was supposed to be one. They stopped only once to let us use the toilet and then we were supposed be in the bus for more than 4h without stopping or WC. For the price the bus is not bad but the service is not the best.
