At 12Go our operators offer three types of service:

Cheap, Fast, Good - but you can usually pick only two of them!
Cheap & Fast won’t be Good. (e.g. buses from/to Khao San Road, local buses or 3rd class trains)
Cheap & Good won’t be Fast. (e.g. VIP trains in Thailand)
Fast & Good won’t be Cheap. (e.g. private limousine services, or VIP24 buses vs Express buses)

Make your choice! Please remember that while we are closely monitoring the services, we are still an agency marketplace. That means we focus on ticketing services and route availability & coverage rather than on the factual seat reclining angle you will get on the bus today.

Right behind us between train coaches people smoke all the time. I closed the door 100 times but, passengers even attendants leave it open over and over. Our clothes and our luggage smell like sh*t now. We couldnt see anything through the window, it blure matte. No atendant speak english. Injured knees from seat in front of me, there was not enough of space, i was stocked. Great 22hr trip. Never more, we want to forget.

The train was on time and our berth was well marked and easy to find/ board. We were in a soft 4 bed berth (First class). Not really First Class but I think it’s the best you can do on these trains. My biggest issue was how cold it was. I froze all night. Maybe there was a way to adjust the temp? I’ll ask on our next over night trip. Bathrooms were typical. Not clean by any standard but maintained the same throughout the journey so they could be used. Be prepared to get splashed by toilet water... :/

Although a lovely authentic experience, we were joined by 2 ladies with 2 under 6's in our 4 berth 1st class cabin - which must have been the oldest in Vietnam! Had to retire to the 3rd class couchettes to get some space and to be anle to see out of a window at the spectacular scenery !! x x

A very interesting train ride. When they bring the food cart through make sure you order food because there will not be another one for number of hours. Well but the bathrooms can do with a ventilation fan.

The train was sold as first class but the conditions are very bad. The air conditioning is too weak and the other passengers are friendly but they use the cabin as a sleeping room, restaurant and so on. I think this last situation is a cultural thing.

Booked the first class sleeper with my mum. Then our cabin was shared with a mother with her two sons who were loud and hyper active. Didn't mind them as we understood that it's not unusual that Vietnamese can be loud. When we were pit stopping halfway through, there were sellers entering the train and were persistent in selling their food and ripped us off. We were tired and just want them to go away so we bought their food. The bed was okay but painful to sleep in. Both my mum and I sleep sideways so it hurts our hips. It felt like camping again. Toilet was poorly maintained but understandable. At least we got the squating toilet cause I'll be more horrified if I had to sit on any dirty toilet seats. But that's what we get when you want to travel in budget. Got us to our destination and scenery was beautiful.

Both departure and arrival was well on time - although the train was very old, in a way that it wasn't charming, but rather run down and poorly looked after. Toilets were quite an experience! I would recommend bringing your own provisions for the journey as the food from the trolley was unidentifiable. Sorry, wanted to give this a great review since I usually love train travel, but for the price of a soft sleeper (it wasn't cheap) I would expect something a bit better.

VERY small tight conditions! Pictures showed 4 beds when it is really 6! Can't sit up, no seats or anywhere to go. Not recommended for long journeys
