Dear Railways Passenger!
We are not (yet) an online system for Thai Railways. We are manually buying tickets for you at the station. Trains in Thailand are usually sold out (especially VIP class compartments). It may happen that your preferred berth (upper or lower) is not available. In this case we can try to get a different berth for you. You may select your flexibility level below.

You can not travel with the voucher you got from us. You need to come and check in to collect your boarding passes. The process is very similar to the one you know from the airport. You can not board the train without a special boarding pass.

Why book with us?

  • Simple and seamless booking process.
  • Usually we confirm your tickets within 24h.
  • Ticket pickup at/near the departure station in Bangkok with an alternative shipping option to the parcel room at your departure station or by EMS to your home/hotel address.
  • It is possible to change the passport details after making the purchase.
  • Multiple refund/change/shipping options nobody else can provide for you. Changing a boarding pass costs 160 Baht extra (fee per person).

Our booking fee is there to cover costs for providing tickets to our customers. This involves our staff going to the railways counter, wait in the queue and arrange the best tickets for you, depending on availability and according to your requirements and much much more. The purchasing process of train tickets is different to our bus tickets, which are instantly confirmed - bus operator systems are connected in real-time. Trains are not like that. In case we have charged a higher price at the moment of booking (for child fares, changing VIP to 2nd Class, upper/lower, etc.) we refund in cash when you pick up tickets.

Please note: Thai railways release seats to the public 90 days before the departure for long-hauls and 30 days for short routes (e.g. Bangkok <-> Chumphon). If your departure is in more than 90 (30) days your payment and request will be held in the system and we issue tickets at first possibility ensuring you get the seats you want.

Attention: Please enter your real gender when booking. If you have mentioned you are female and book 1st Class/VIP, we'll put you with another female passenger. If in reality you are not exactly female - you may face well expected difficulties when boarding...

Travel with children: Please note that the policy of Thai Railways permits children less than 12 years old or of height under 150cm to travel on LOWER BERTHS ONLY.

Starting from November 11, 2016 the SRT has used new train carriages.
Each first-class seat is equipped with a TV screen, electric outlet (220V) and a USB slot for battery recharging. The train also includes dining car, wheelchair elevators, airplane-style vacuum toilets, surveillance cameras, opened door alarms.

At 12Go our operators offer three types of service:

Cheap, Fast, Good - but you can usually pick only two of them!
Cheap & Fast won’t be Good. (e.g. buses from/to Khao San Road, local buses or 3rd class trains)
Cheap & Good won’t be Fast. (e.g. VIP trains in Thailand)
Fast & Good won’t be Cheap. (e.g. private limousine services, or VIP24 buses vs Express buses)

Make your choice! Please remember that while we are closely monitoring the services, we are still an agency marketplace. That means we focus on ticketing services and route availability & coverage rather than on the factual seat reclining angle you will get on the bus today.

Excellent customer service from the staff. Our VIP room consist of two berths, a small sink, a small table. Washroom and shower room is just outside of your room at the end of the hall. There are a few VIP rooms on train #10. Take motion sickness pills if you are not use to riding the trains in Thailand. (Especially if you are on the top berth)

We travelled in first class, overnight on train #10. Everything was easy, including picking up our tickets from the Bossotel across from Chiang Mai station. The train was nice, the beds were comfortable, and it was a pretty quiet ride. We were pushed into ordering food, and our departure at Ayutthaya station felt very rushed, but otherwise everything was good. They had a vegetarian option for dinner, which was overpriced but tasted fine. All in all, it was a good experience that I would recommend.

One of the better train rides I've been on. I had the whole cabin to myself, the amenities were as good as they come, it wasn't loud (still loud enough it being a train but better than my previous Thai railways experience) so it was easier to sleep and it was nice and clean. I finally see how the overnight train rides can replace a hotel booking, it was practically like being in a hotel. . It was pretty damn cold though but it is to be expected in Asian trains. The 12go staff at bossotel was also nice, it was good to be able to sit at the bossotel reception and use the wifi (I didn't get a local sim) since I got there a bit early. They didn't have a water cooler though unlike their Bangkok office but it's no big deal. Overall, a surprisingly nice and pleasant train journey.

The car is overall clean and convenient. We travelled from Chiangmai to Ayutthaya. The staffs were helpful to cover us for food and call us up upon arrival at 5am, given us as foreigners not speaking a single Thai word. The only big thing to complain was the first class car was right after the engine car. The air was mixed with the smoke of the engine car from the air conditioning. I was very sensitive to smell and slept in the upper berth. My husband felt nothing about this.
