Dear Railways Passenger!
We are not (yet) an online system for Thai Railways. We are manually buying tickets for you at the station. Trains in Thailand are usually sold out (especially VIP class compartments). It may happen that your preferred berth (upper or lower) is not available. In this case we can try to get a different berth for you. You may select your flexibility level below.

You can not travel with the voucher you got from us. You need to come and check in to collect your boarding passes. The process is very similar to the one you know from the airport. You can not board the train without a special boarding pass.

Why book with us?

  • Simple and seamless booking process.
  • Usually we confirm your tickets within 24h.
  • Ticket pickup at/near the departure station in Bangkok with an alternative shipping option to the parcel room at your departure station or by EMS to your home/hotel address.
  • It is possible to change the passport details after making the purchase.
  • Multiple refund/change/shipping options nobody else can provide for you. Changing a boarding pass costs 160 Baht extra (fee per person).

Our booking fee is there to cover costs for providing tickets to our customers. This involves our staff going to the railways counter, wait in the queue and arrange the best tickets for you, depending on availability and according to your requirements and much much more. The purchasing process of train tickets is different to our bus tickets, which are instantly confirmed - bus operator systems are connected in real-time. Trains are not like that. In case we have charged a higher price at the moment of booking (for child fares, changing VIP to 2nd Class, upper/lower, etc.) we refund in cash when you pick up tickets.

Please note: Thai railways release seats to the public 90 days before the departure for long-hauls and 30 days for short routes (e.g. Bangkok <-> Chumphon). If your departure is in more than 90 (30) days your payment and request will be held in the system and we issue tickets at first possibility ensuring you get the seats you want.

Attention: Please enter your real gender when booking. If you have mentioned you are female and book 1st Class/VIP, we'll put you with another female passenger. If in reality you are not exactly female - you may face well expected difficulties when boarding...

Travel with children: Please note that the policy of Thai Railways permits children less than 12 years old or of height under 150cm to travel on LOWER BERTHS ONLY.

Cancelation policy: Bangkok - Samui #167.3

The following refund options are available:

  1. Refund 80% (excl. fees)

If you would like to cancel your booking before the ticket is confirmed.

Amount to be refunded: USD 0.00

  2. Refund 50% (excl. fees)

Firstly, it's 5 stars for 12Go: their website is easy to use and informative, I have read their terms and conditions twice for the fun of it, and when I arrived at their office to collect my tickets they were helpful, speedy and efficient. I felt I was seeing the tip of a highly organised iceberg. But the train journey itself? Oh dear. Pluses - I was lying down for most of it, the bed linen was clean, the bed was comfy, the steward for our carriage was helpful in spite of his limited English and our non-existent Thai. The seats are wide (because they later turn into a bed), the windows were cleaned just before we left, the air conditioning worked, lots to see from the windows before night set in. Minuses - the bumpy ride, the noise, the loos, the smell, the lights. I've been on a sleeper train in the UK and was expecting something similar, but clearly the tracks are not laid so well and the running gear clattered and crashed over every bump. Some sections were so bad I was glad of the straps (I was in a top bunk) as I knew I wouldn't be accidentally thrown out of bed. Meanwhile, the train seemed to stop at a station every 20-40 minutes throughout the night. My bunk was next to the door and people preparing to disembark thought nothing of chatting away despite it being 3am. It seems to be normal to have the carriage door open whilst in the station, which means diesel fumes flooding in. Also normal to keep them open once moving for at least ten minutes, which gets rid of the diesel fumes but is a lot noisier. Despite being the other end of the carriage, I had only been lying down for about 10 minutes before the unmistakable scent of urine wafted down. I managed to avoid it by sticking my head under my blanket. Finally, the lights are permanently on so take an eye mask, especially if you are in the top bunk. Take your food and drink with you. Random sellers do come down the train but choice is limited (spicy/not spicy) and may not be to your taste. Use the loo early - it quickly deteriorates in there - and don't slip, the hole in the floor looked big enough to lose your leg in!

We were in the last wagon of the train and liked the composition of the beds and chairs. We bought food, cookies and drinks, which were fine. The children and mother slept well below, but father and me slept barely, because of the incredible noice of the diesel motor and rattling light cover and sometimes a whistling tone. The beds were fine. The experience was amazing, but tiring.

The train was clean, the beds were OK. We had both upper and lower beds. The upper one was close to the light of the corridor do the curtain did not cover it entirely. It was pretty light up there. On the lower bed it was dark, with window, and thehhe curtain did isolate more the noise, it was very cozy. The temperature was right, colder than hotter. Never went to the bathroom scared of seen and smelling things I could not unsee nor un smell. These trains are old fossil combustion trains, like diesel. Sometimes the smell of smoke come inside. I doubt these are better for the environment than a flight.

This is an older train. Both squat and Western toilets, doesn't have electric outlets at every bed like the new ones. No tables. But the beds were much more comfortable than the newer trains, softer mattress pad, lower berth seemed slightly longer (I'm 6ft) and curtains actually block the light. Very clean as Thai sleeper trains always seem to be. More casual meal service. I liked it much more than I thought I would.

Easy with the 12go.asia agency (purchase and pick up). However train was really really cold so bring warm clothes. Also beware we arrived 1h late so don't plan your next journey until you get there. Purchase food in advance.

Not much to complain about as I already knew what to expect. Train departed on time 18.30 16/03/2019. It is hard to fall asleep on such a journey so it is not for everyone. You need to be aware where you are as there are no other indications of upcoming stops.

The 12Go service was hassle free and easy. However, our train was delayed 2.5 hrs which was a little frustrating but this is not 12Go's responsibility, as they are separate companies.

Service from 12go.asia Agency was very good - nothing to complain about! But the train ride was a little difficult which is why I’m rating the trip with three stars only. First of all the train was 4 hours delayed! I had heard about frequent delays, but this was still unacceptable as we took the overnight train and for at least one hour the cars were simply waiting for the main car to start the journey. The 2nd class sleeps AC was an interesting set up: they do not shut down the lights all night long, so if you have trouble sleeping with lights on then it’s not your kind of train. Also, the door was left open most of the time - very carefree customers I believe, plus an automated sliding door which was simply broken. It was super loud throughout the night. We also saw several bugs around the sleeper berths which made it harder to relax. The English is - as apparently everywhere in Thailand - very little and I personally would not want to fall ill on this train ride. For our return trip to Bangkok we are now considering taking first class if they still have seats, hoping it will be much more comfortable. Again, 12go.Asia is not accountable for the train service in Thailand - their service was exceptionally good and organized.

Apart from the airco stopping twice over the 12h journey, the trip was good. Great experience for the kids!
