Passenger reviews out of total 1,271 passengers who traveled with us on this route.

At 12Go our operators offer three types of service:

Cheap, Fast, Good - but you can usually pick only two of them!
Cheap & Fast won’t be Good. (e.g. buses from/to Khao San Road, local buses or 3rd class trains)
Cheap & Good won’t be Fast. (e.g. VIP trains in Thailand)
Fast & Good won’t be Cheap. (e.g. private limousine services, or VIP24 buses vs Express buses)

Make your choice! Please remember that while we are closely monitoring the services, we are still an agency marketplace. That means we focus on ticketing services and route availability & coverage rather than on the factual seat reclining angle you will get on the bus today.

train #3 Sleeper, Myanmar Railways
★★☆☆☆
Very noisy and uncomfortable train journey, but that was expected based on other reviews, and apparently the line and trains are in process of being upgraded so once complete would hopefully be a lot better. Some great views of countryside and villages in the morning. Food available regularly, recommend sleeper carriage for extra space.

Trip was fine but train was dirty, old and crowded. Very little English spoken. No coach numbers on outside of train. Food was ok.

I expected aircon but there was no aircon. The ride was very loud so I didn't sleep much. The food was good (fried rice no meat). There was a little misunderstanding because I thought they asked me if egg was oke but apparently I ordered an extra scrambled egg (which turned out to be an omelet).

More uncomfortable than I thought it would be. Sixteen hours unable to sleep very much due to motion and noise of train. Do not recommend to anyone. Much better to fly, Not very safe! There were five members of the police on board the train. — to protect the passengers from loosing their belonging and possible physical attack. This must have happened on previous train journeys, being reason for their being there.

Obsolete, loud train that bounces and rocks and rolls for just under 16 hours. You take this train for the experience and I'd wanted to do it for a long time. It's a trip you won't forget!!

15.5 hours, upperclass, Yangon Mandalay, day train. The Seats are very comfortabele. The train it self is an old Chinese train, partly cleaned. Toilet was ok but Asian type. Lots of food offered the whole trip from walkers through. Charming. Also beer. Beware for the cooked food ... can be contaminated. Track is often bad which makes the train wobble a lot but long parts are ok and the train makes good speed. The views are good and that was my main reason to take the day train.

A very comfortable bus. The driver/s and their assistants were all very helpful. My only complaint would be that we weren’t advised there was no toilet on the bus. So I had to ask the diver to stop for a quick loo break on the side of the road for both myself and my son. Traveller tip ~ don’t drink beer before getting on the bus!

Train on time, sleeper OK, but noisy, dinner/food was very good. Toilet if you better avoid or use in the beginning of the trip. I used at the end and there was no water to wash hands.

Office in Yangon very hard to find, the Fantastic Condominium entrance is behind an outside restaurant so you need to take s step of the sidewalk into the garden to see the sign. Train was ok, toilet surprisingly clean in the beginning, better to go when stopped at stations due to movement as it is a squat toilet. I didn't sleep much because of the movement but enjoyed the ride anyway. Compared to Thai trains it was bumpier and dirtier.

We took the day train Yangon to Mandalay .. must take the Upper Class seats, otherwise either fibreglass or wood slats, without cushioning .. great views and plenty of local food, drinks provided by vendors walking the carriages.. ride is bumpy but, based on the number of new railway sleepers stockpiled alomg the track, ride should b improved sometime soon

Long slow train trip. Got quite cold at night. Very bumpy and stops at every possible stop on the way. They will ask you what time you want dinner but this is not included, it costs extra. Only 2 people to a sleeper so pretty Private. Keep the door shut and the hawkers will leave you alone.

Have thoroughly enjoyed my night train to Mandalay. As Nicholas from Australia said it’s not japan rail. Could have provided airline type blanket as it got quite cold in the night. Also the berths could have been better cleaned . Apart from that would travel same way again.

Amazing experience to take the sleeper, and good service from the waiter to serve much needed food and beer! Leaving Yangon on time we were treated to a lovely sunset, and in the morning an amazing sunrise. Got into Mandalay about an hour late but does anyone really care? Yes, it was noisy as hell, yes it was cold, but anyone who’s done even cursory research on this trip will know that. One major downside was my cabin mate had his phone snatched through the window at a station while we slept. Please be super cautious of your valuables and don’t leave them anywhere within reach!

Train trip better than advertised. Very comfortable seats and right on schedule at departure and arrival. A small suggestion. Turn off the ceiling lights during the night, say from 9Pm. Passengers can use the flash light app on their smartphone. Light attracts flying bugs. Shutting them off could alleviate part of this problem during the trip.

I would say maybe the railway staff could dust the overnight birth a time or two. Many spiders, one rather large occupying the space. Door quite cruddy with debris that had clearly been there awhile as well. Other than that, the train ride itself was rather uneventful and arrived in Mandalay from Yangon, fairly close to on time.

Service was good... BUT, even though it departed on time it was 3 and a half hours late arriving in Thazi. This is my second time doing the same trip and the first trip was slightly delayed arriving but this delay caused a major inconvenience as we missed the conecting train and have had to stay the night in Thazi...

Left on time. Only 15 mins late. Porter was very helpful and got up at 5 a.m. to make sure we got off at the right station (departed at Thazi). A travelling experience which is what all the fun and adventure of countries like this is about and did get some sleep so would recommend it for sure to those with an open mind. And as a by product it is an extremely cheap way to travel and avoid a night's hotel bill!! Only down side was that I had gut rot before boarding so the toilet experience is best left to your imagination. At least there is a toilet!!
