Purchasing the ticket was a breeze thanks to 12go. The sleeper cabin is a bit smaller and worn down than expected, but its pretty decent and you got the privacy you're looking for. The train departed and arrived in bangkok as scheduled.

It was a pleasant journey for us..it was a good experience..but it took 18 hours to arrive in bangkok so patience is much needed.

The bus was cold as ice. I've put two blankets and two scarfs on, but couldn't sleep at all. In additon the bus stopped in every three hours, the staff turned on the lights each time and started to shout something, so it was impossible to take a nap.
Furthermore instead of Southern Terminal, the final station was Mochit Station which is almost out of the city...
super unsatisfied with this trip.

Actual travel was fine but felt very worried for the timings were not clear it said on the itinerary we arrived at railway station at 11.30 .... we actually arrived at airport with ten minutes to spare for check in for the 14.15 flight!

Easy and smooth process on the ticket booking with 12go.
Train 38 is so-so. The train is a bit old, and facilities is not that clean. There is a better option with slightly more expensive that you can opt for if you ever think of taking train from Hat Yai to Banykok.

This is my first time take train from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok is good enough clean inside train is value money. The train crew also helpful the only thing no vegetarian food in the morning breakfast.

The 12goasia service worked seamlessly, except we were listed as women and not men. That wasn't a problem in a two person first class sleeper, but could have been an issue if I had been travelling alone. Train 38 was not a great experience. I realised too late that I should have booked Train 32, which is a newer train with superior service, and better conditions. The train left on time but was over three hours late into Bangkok. That wasn't an issue for us, as it was expected. Getting across the border at Padang Besar was a shambolic nightmare - it must be one of the most chaotic border crossings in the world. The train was old and tired. Our cabin was freezing and the aircon could not be adjusted. The toilets were for emergency use only - I went once in 19 hours. There was only one power point, high above the door that made it impossible to use with my travel plug. All my devices had flat batteries by the end of the journey. There was no food available on the train - there was a waitress delivery service to 1st class the last time I used Train 32 - so we weren't well prepared and were hungry and thirsty by the end of the journey. We were able to make a cup of tea at the beginning of the trip as a kettle was provided at one end of the carriage. However, it had disappeared by morning. As someone else said, it was an experience but not one I would repeat.

Trip was a fun experience but realistically the train is very old, very noisy (very few doors close properly and if they do the food vendors and security leave them open all the time), ran an hour and a half late and most of the guards and ticketing staff were pretty unpleasant. The cost is only just cheaper than a flight. The operators really need to improve the total service in a market where budget airlines are a much faster and cleaner option. All that said, there is something about a train ride and it was a fun experience.

The aircon too cold, not able to off or tame down a bit. However the service staff preparing the bed is very helpful, I ask from him 1 extra blanket. 2 blankets and I put on long pant and jacket, it is still cold but manageable(the small bottle of whiskey I buy from airport does help a bit, I guess)

Friendly and clean..... But the upper bunk.... Once you inside.. You got nothing to do... No view, no wifi even bus have wifi... At least put some windows at the upper bunk... In the future... Lower bunk was the best which i got the upper bunk after telling you guys I wanted the lower bunk

The train was very nice but the staff was not. The lady selling food from the kitchen started yellling at us because we wouldn’t buy food from her. We were in a 1st class sleeper. The train was new and great though otherwise and only arrived about an hour late on an overnight trip so that was good.

Very reliable agent. Got my tickets from the parcel office smoothly. Had arrived 2 days earlier on booking date and email the staff to check on how to collect the ticket and procedure. Fast response from the staff Oil. But only at the train station the people there dont really understand English. So I have to use google translate. They are helpful though. For train booking. 1st class cabin is superb. Comfort 10/10

Everything else was good except two items:
Firstly 3 hours delay was too long and totally unacceptable. I have no problem with a delay up to one hour
Secondly the Buffet car stopped selling food and coffee at 10am when the train arrived Bangkok at 2pm. Hot drinks must continue to be sold and bread/buns must be available for sale whenever there is a long delay. We had to go hungry and buying from vendors at train stations is not an option.
Additional suggestion: Have additional pillows that passengers can rent. People like me cannot sleep with one pillow. Commendations: Cleanliness and good ventilation with super cool air conditioning.

Nous avons adoré ce trajet. Confort maximal dans notre petite cabine 2 personnes, personnel de train très sympathique. Sauf au wagon restaurant ! Extrêmement désagréable. Pas d'horaire indiqué, avons été vers 8, 9h, on s'est fait engueuler car c'était fermé. Mais tout était encore allumé, aucun moyen de devinner. On a même pas pu acheter 2 boissons en canette! Soit, il y avait la possibilité de se ravitailler aux différents arrêts, finalement mieux. On a pu acheter à boire, à manger + petit déjeuner. A refaire.

It's an eye opening journey.. Endless supply of food but not everything tasted good.. Comfortable bed.. The train delayed for about 40minutes to an hour.. Please plan your time if its tight timeline.. Worth the experience..

They have updated the Chiang Mai trains and these look like the older ones being recycled. Service is good toilet needs thinking about but hey what’s not to enjoy. Stay home if you have high expectations. 12go had the tickets waiting for us at Hat Yai

The Go2Asia people were great. I made a mistake about where I wanted the sleeper train tickets sent and they were really helpful. I had to pay about £35 for the service but I think it was the rail networks levy, not theirs. they apologised for the large fee! They were at the hotel as promised in Penang when we arrived - phew!
'First class sleeper' was not comparable with English ones! Old mucky and nothing much worked eg adjusting aircon (very cool) and reading lights. Bed linen and towels were spotless and we slept well. Toilets for emergency use only. I used the squat one....once. About 30 mins late departing. Immigration at Pedang Besar was a nightmare - took 5 hours (it was Chinese New Year) but they held the train and we made the connection in Hat Yai ok. As I said it was late leaving
