How to get from Macau to Hong Kong

You are limited in your choices of transportation options between Macau and Hong Kong. There are only two practical methods of transport, flying by helicopter which is very expensive or the cheaper option of taking a ferry. Both services are convenient with regular services operating throughout the day.

Macau and Hong Kong are separated by the Zhujiang River estuary and Hong Kong is just 60km to the north east of Macau. It is possible to make the journey by land but requires a visa to travel through China for the impractical journey of around 250km.

The heliport in Macau is located on the 3rd floor of Macau Maritime Terminal on Avenida da Amizade and is open daily from 8.15am until 11pm. It is close to New Yaohan Department Store and can easily be reached by bus. There are 15 bus services that serve this destination.

The Hong Kong heliport is at the Macau Ferry Terminal, Shun Tak Centre, Connaught Road, Central, Hong Kong. It is open from 8.30am until 11pm every day. On your arrival in Hong Kong go to Sheung Wan station located below the terminal where buses and the metro can take you to all areas of Hong Kong.

There are no direct flights between Macau and Hong Kong. If you require a plane journey it requires at least one stopover in another country and a journey of several hours. The journey by helicopter takes just 15 minutes. You are however required to be at the heliport at least 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time.

The Hong Kong to Macau/Zhuhai bridge is due to open late in 2018 which will make it possible to take a bus directly from Macau to Hong Kong. The buses will run at intervals of five minutes during peak times and take about 30 minutes to complete the journey. The price is expected to be about HK$80.
