Booking with 12go was super easy and convenient, nothing to complain about. The train from the other hand was in pretty rough condition (train 13). This particular train was the worst we've taken in Thailand. No water in the toilet, and overall the car looked really old. We arrived to Chiang Mai more than 2 hours late. I've recently taken another train from BKK to Chiang Mai (the one with earlier departure, around 6 pm) and it was far better experience.

In this current bus we had mask-addicted stewart spreading fear and wearing a piece of a light textile on her face. She tried to force us to do the same. I hope she'll be fine.

The trip was great; linen and surrounds generally quite clean. Train staff did not seem happy on the job; and there was no food/drinks sold on the train. Lights on the upper bunk were blinding though so not as easy to rest.

All good apart from no buffet car and very limited food and drinks on offer. For me the bed is a bit short. Also, I found the train a bit noisier than normal and had a few problems getting to sleep. Apart from that, everything was good : )

We were told 15 minutes before departure that there would be no food or drink served on board. I feel this is unacceptable for a 13 hour journey - with very limited options for food and drink in the station.

Train is ok, and the free meals, snacks , coffee/tea were a surprise. Air conditioning is so cold that you have to pile on everything you have to survive. No blankets provided ( day train). Difficult to move around the train becaise the ride is not very smooth. Would definitely advise taking the night train and getting a bed as the scenery is a bit disappointing except for a few stretches.

Ticketing was easy and the staff at 12go were great! The train is an experience I’ll never forget. I HIGHLY recommend ear plugs. The train is pretty loud and creaky. We had been up for over 24 hours before we got on the night train and I still had a bit of trouble falling asleep going through Bangkok. Once we were out of the city the tracks smoothed out and I passed out. If I would have had ear plugs I would have probably been fine. There are a few outlets around the train. None in the bunks but they are there. My phone was almost dead and I luckily was able to secure power before Chiang Mai otherwise we would have not had GPS. Also when you get to Chiang Mai don’t get a taxi at the station. They were all trying to charge 50$ USD to take you to the city. Walk through the people and get a taxi a little ways away from the train on the Main Street to the city.

The 12go agency was very helpfull, very responsive to my emails. Everything went smooth, the building to pickup the tickets is very close to the railway station and easy to find. Everything was ok and the train journey was pleasnt.

I had a lower berth. A train worker made my bed. The bed was fine. The train shakes tangibly back and forth and it was quite cold due to the air conditioning. You will get a blanket (slightly thicker than a towel) but make sure you are wearing something warm. I thought it was a great experience and great that you don't waste a day traveling.

train #9 2nd Class Sleeper AC, Thai Railways (การรถไฟแห่งประเทศไทย), Mar 11, 2020
The train attendant who was a woman named Lee, sold my friends 4 tins as “beer” but then we realised they were alcohol free. I think that was very misleading. Over all the train journey was fine, a bit hard to sleep because the lights were left on all night and the train was loud, but that can’t be helped. I would use Go Asia again to book travel as it was easy and helpful, but not sure if I would travel on the train again.

I would surely recommand going by train. Tips: 1. The airco is quit cold. Bring enough warm clothes with you. 2. Bring an eye cover and earplugs. 3. The lowest bed has got a window so you see the sunset.

12Go makes it so easy to book an overnight train from the U.S. so you feel secure about your plans. They walk over to the train station and purchase the tickets on your behalf plus when we picked up our tickets they gave me 100 baht refund because we reserved an upper and lower seat/bed. Kop khun ka We had train #9. The seats have no lumbar support, but other than that it was fine.
