Hanoi to Da Nang Destination Reviews

GM

The overall experience was great - USB port & entertainment system didn’t work in my cabin but made zero difference to my trip. Make sure you pack a portable charging bank. Long trip from Hanoi to Da Nang tok around 13 hours. No trouble sleeping and I could stretch right out - cabin is 1.75m in length. The pick up point was chaotic but somehow the system just works - just be patient & they will call your name when your bus arrives. The bus licence plate is printed on your ticket & is also printed on the side of the bus at the rear making it easy to identify. My bus had an on-board toilet for convenience. Overall a great & fun experience.

So many Cockroaches and insects in the train, and not clean. Train kitchen staff don't speak English at all so it's difficult to communicate. Seats not well maintained.. not worth for the money.

They told us rhe bus is overbucked which wasnt correct. They told us a wrong pick up point via e-mail. After a few calls we got the right one, but had to rush by taxi. We then got into a non vip bus and our luggage got wet in the luggage boxes. After a two hour drive we had to change the bus in a very stressful way. During the overnight drive various people looked in our cabins if we were asleep. We wouldnt choose this company again. It was overall very chaotic.

The check in service was very good. We travelled First Class to have a cabin to ourselves. The cleanliness of the bathrooms were fairly well maintained throughout the duration of the journey. The beds were very hard. The pillows provided were also hard and too bulky to be useful for sleep, although came in handy for back support when sitting. Although rock and roll movement is expected on a train journey, the carriage was very noisy (constant squeaks and bangs) even with good esrplugs. Additional noise from fellow travellers with children is not something that can be controlled by the service, but it might be worth paying extra for Premium if you would prefer to avoid this. The views in the morning were excellent.

The staff at the station were very helpful in explaining where to wait etc. the bed was average comfort but to be expected with the cheap cost. My sheet was heavily stained though. Food trolleys come around regularly which was so handy because I didn’t think to bring snacks. They do walk past fast though so you need to be switched on. The speaker on my train was loud and clear however if you are in a cabin with loud talkers best to keep a sharp ear out. The toilet is so cramped and was full one time so I didn’t use it. Overall an average trip but an affordable travel option.

Should I tip taxi in Da Nang?

Tipping taxi drivers in Da Nang is not a common practice, but it is appreciated. Most fares include the cost of the ride, and drivers don’t expect additional tips. However, rounding up to the nearest 10,000 VND or leaving small change is seen as courteous, especially for good service. Some taxi companies, such as Mai Linh or Vinasun, have consistent pricing and reliable drivers. If you receive exceptional service, such as help with heavy luggage or efficient route navigation, a modest tip is a kind gesture. Keep in mind that cash is preferred since digital tipping options may not be available.
  • Standard tipping: Rounding up the fare.
  • Cash tips are most appreciated.
  • Helpful for exceptional service but not required.
Offering a tip is entirely at your discretion but shows gratitude in a way drivers understand.
