Generally it was a really good trip. The cabin was as expected, but we were relatively comfortable. The only real problem was other passengers who had no consideration for others. Someone was smoking on a no smoking train and a Vietnamese family had 8 people in a cabin with one very noisy child who was yelling and screaming and running around for hours disturbing everyone. The train staff did nothing about this. Also the train was nearly two hours late...

Fantastic start to finish. Easy boarding, very comfortable cabin and friendly service. Views in the morning were incredible. Can’t recommend highly enough. Thank you 12go and Laman Express from the Scottish travellers.

An authentic experience you can't miss. The toilets were horrible but this was expected. We booked 2 beds in a 4 bedroom cabin, and we're asked if we wanted to pay extra for a VIP room. We declined and ended up being the only ones in the cabin anyway! The views are absolutely spectacular. The farmlands and mountain villages really show a beautiful side of Vietnam.

D-1 received an email from airline that there would be a 15-min delay, on D-day it was delayed 35 MORE minutes. On flight, a huge family group seemingly first-time passengers were very loud and when disembarking just acted like they had privately rented the plane to exit without queueing. Such an experience!

Cheap enough and comfortable enough. The toilets were disgusting and the mouse in our cabin was a good bunk mate for the cockroaches. Couldn’t wait to get off. The staffs were very pleasant and helpful though. Very long trip.

Arrangements by 12goasia were excellent and it was easy to board the train. Berth on train was OK, but could have been quieter and more comfortable. The bunks did not fold away and travelling during the day was uncomfortable.

We travelled in a 1st class cabin with our eight year old daughter. There were three of us and we were joined by another passenger for some of the journey which wasn’t a problem. The beds are not perfect but comfortable enough to get some sleep. The cabins are quite small and if you are 6ft plus tall, you may find the beds a little short. All bedding seemed clean. Electric sockets and reading lights provided. Western style toilets were ok and did have loo roll at first. Obviously on a 16 hour journey, the toilets become less clean and loo roll gets used so bring some extra and hand gel too. The view from the window approaching Danang was stunning! Our daughter enjoyed the adventure and slept well too!

Very comfortable train (book the lower or middle Beth ONLY). We arrived just one hour later than planned but it felt a very safe and reliable way to travel in Vietnam. You are offered breakfast options in the night, but there are no other eating options so it's better to take food for the night with you!

Really enjoyed the overnight trip from Hanoi to Danang. It’s not the easiest to sleep on the train but that’s part of the adventure. Be aware that food options on the train are very limited. My wife and I bought 2 tickets in first class which meant we were probably going to have to share with 2 other randoms. But when we got on we paid 500,000 to the attendant and got the carriage to ourselves. Probably a rip-off but worth it. Magnificent scenery heading into Danang

It seemed like a very pleasant trip in the two bed VIP compartment and it was a five star experience at first - until later in the evening/night - it should have been a smoke free transportation but people smoked at the small space between the railway wagons and somehow it felt like majority of the smoke ended up in our compartment - I assume through the air conditioner - felt like trying to sleep in one of those smoke boxes you see on other "no smoking areas" - I would never do this again until they have a solution for this I'm sorry to say even though the CO2-footprint is an important aspect, I'm taking an airplane next time.

We booked the SE3 train from Hanoi to Danang. We booked 2 berths, aware that we could be sharing our room, we had read about roommates who weren’t so good and recently were told of an unpleasant experience, yes it’s a gamble. We were fortunate to have a lovely young couple from our own country. Clean sheets and duvets/pillows. Bananas, a chocolate bar, water and hand wipes were provided. Just as I had read about. The toilet was ok, I have seen worse in other other country’s, yes it’s small, yes it’s old, the water level is quite high so that can splash about, we took our own toilet paper but there was some provided. Yes the train goes clickity clack, we had ear plugs and that helped, all 4 of us thought we had a reasonable sleep. There was a lady with a food trolley selling drinks and snacks. Ticketing was easy, we handed our voucher over and our carriage and bed numbers got written on it. The train left on time but arrived 30 min late. We had a good experience, as I had hoped from reading other positive reviews.
