The Thai government’s green light for hi-speed Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima trains has ended all discussions on air links between the two locations. Prime-minister's office representative Kobsak Pootrakool said the two cities are too close together to make launching an air link viable.

Thailand’s government has given the green light for the construction of a new high-speed rail line from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima. Spokesperson Kobsak Futrakul ended speculation over the multi-billion project on Tuesday and confirmed the government had endorsed the budget needed to build it.

Thailand’s tourist authority has confirmed that a colourful festival to welcome this year’s Buddhist Lent will go ahead in Surin. The Esarn town’s famous elephant population will be bedecked in all their finery for parades this Friday and Saturday. There will be alms giving to the elephants for merit after the parades.
