Passenger reviews out of total 2,164 passengers who traveled with us on this route.

At 12Go our operators offer three types of service:

Cheap, Fast, Good - but you can usually pick only two of them!
Cheap & Fast won’t be Good. (e.g. buses from/to Khao San Road, local buses or 3rd class trains)
Cheap & Good won’t be Fast. (e.g. VIP trains in Thailand)
Fast & Good won’t be Cheap. (e.g. private limousine services, or VIP24 buses vs Express buses)

Make your choice! Please remember that while we are closely monitoring the services, we are still an agency marketplace. That means we focus on ticketing services and route availability & coverage rather than on the factual seat reclining angle you will get on the bus today.

The train was late but that was expected. We had a very good porter who helped to our cabin. It was basic but as expected. They brought us a clean sheet. There was a woman in our cabin, American An I think who had been in Vietnam for years which was really useful as she explained things to us. A few stops on a Vietnamese family. Mother and two children came with loads of luggage and claimed the spare top bunk. They were very. noisy but settled down eventually. We had booked two lower bunks but we got one lower and one upper.

When we booked we thought we were booking a bottom and middle bunk. When we got on the train we found we had two middle bunks. We would have preferred a bottom bunk as you get slightly more room.

In general, the trip was very good. The reservation was made correctly and the train left and arrived punctually. The coaches on SE7 were of the old type and could do with some basic maintenance of the running gear: The vertical dampers of the secondary suspension are in urgent need of overhaul. This simple low cost measure would improve ride performance greatly by reducing bouncing. There was no coffee and drinks service - given the 17 hour duration of the journey, this was a significant omission.

Of course you can’t expect european standards - we took the night train from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh and booked the hard berths. We both (my partner an me) enjoyed the journey and we will add this to an amazing Vietnam travel experience! The staff was friendly, the berths were clean and the train arrived on time in Ho Chi Minh. Great value for the money we paid!

Vietnamese Railways doesn't have First and Second Class. Both Soft and Hard Sleeper get the same equal lousy service. Soft Sleeper just gets a bit more room. Unlike train sleepers in other countries -- such as Thailand -- Vietnamese sleeper beds are not folded down in daytime. Food sold is inadequate. I recommend flying.

The 1st class sleeper is absolutely fine to travel in. The room has sufficient space to store your luggage and the bed is comfy for what it is. You get a pillow and a sheet which are both fine along with an electrical point a/c and a light.... Although food trolleys come round I'd advise buying snacks to take on. I'd also recommend wearing something warm when air con is on along with your own toilet paper- although the toilet (one end of cabin is squat - the other western toilet) is adequate for the most part.... Overall a good way of seeing more of the country and suitable for the journey... Would recommend and an experience to add to your stories back home!

This was a fun experience & I would recommend. Great way to see the countryside & much more adventurous than hopping on a plane. We travelled 1st soft sleeper. The cabin was clean, sheets looked clean but had bought a ‘silk’ sleeping bag locally which I would recommend in case. Also booking the bottom bunks - the views are much better and you can sit up during the journey etc! Our cabin mates changed a couple of times overnight but for the day portion of the journey we had the cabin to ourselves. Loos were a little scary but fine, just pack your own loo roll/wipes. There didn’t end up being a food/drink carriage on our train - while you receive a bottle of water (not sure if this is 1st or all classes) be sure to take some yourself as well as snacks. Hot water is available so we took some crackers & instant noodles. Great experience!

Compartment was clean enough (no roaches etc.) - as this was already my 2nd journey I knew a bit of what to expect. I got one of the new compartments (had an old one on my 1st ride) and I can only say I think they are both well enough to get a good sleep even if not really "soft". I would have had a better sleep if the annoying lady on my compartment wouldn't have screamed in her phone every hour ... when I, after some nice normal tries to make her speak more silently, almost shouted at her, she finally shut up (that is not really something the train company can be held responsible for - except maybe install a silence rule after 10pm?). The staff will wake you up for Saigon (don't know if they do for the other stops, but there was an electronic sign that showed the next stop in the aisle in the new compartment) - I would set my alarm anyway to be on the safe side, both trains were on time - If you wanna see anything of the nice countryside take a lower bunk! You won't see much on the top bunk. My only complaint is that the staff made me put my back pack under my seat straight away - couldn't almost even grab sth. out of it - but the Vietnamese Lady (the same who shouted in her phone all the time) was allowed to keep her trolley next to the bed all night and it rolled around the compartment! Felt a little bit discriminating ... either force all passengers to put the luggage under the seat or none! This double standard feels not good ... but would take the train again for sure.

I got an email saying our original train was apparently full so they pushed us from 10pm to 1:40am. Not fair considering be bought tickets for a 10pm train. People are constantly walking up and down the isles banging on your door or opening it while you’re sleeping asking if you want to buy snacks. At 4am that can be frustrating. The washrooms was repulsive. There wasn’t and toilet paper for our 17h journey. Usually when they depart from there first city they will place 1 roll in. But by the time we got on there was nothing for our entire journey. There’s urine all over the floor, it spells awful. And they leave a dirty bar of soap for everyone to share.

Had our train times changed a couple of times which was a bit of a pain.. Overall The booking process which pretty muddled, even when we got given a new time the following morning. The email had incorrect departure times, and the PDF also had the incorrect time on it. Train was ok.. Not too clean. Pretty old and rickerty, my bed had been slept in and sheets had not been changed. Found a toothpick and food remenents in bed. 3 of the other beds we booked out of 5.. Had th4 same problem. Food was pretty good, friendly helpful staff, and looks like we will get there on time. Would pay more to have better room, clean sheets, shower in cabin etc etc. As although the journey is stunning.. I just feel a little grubby...

Even if I was in fist class it was full of big beatles running over my bed. Sheet and pillow had stains on it. The aircon was too strong, but no way to lower it. The light of my bed was broken. The train departed late and arrived late. I paid an extra fee for priority support but couldn't find any information about what it consisted in. If I had to redo the trip, i would proably consider a night bus or a flight.

We had a short visit to Nha Trang from Saigon earlier this week and this was the first time we had used the night train. It is a very cheap way to travel so not luxurious. However, it enables you to save on hotel bills and to make the most of your daytime in each city/resort. We booked the SE1 which is a small cabin with two sets of bunk beds, so my friend and I were sharing with two strangers both on our trip up and back. The sheets were fresh and clean, although the cover supplied wasn't quite so fresh but we weren't too worried about that as we slept in our clothes given we were sharing with strangers. Each bed has a private light and although the mattresses are a bit on the firm side, they are reasonably comfortable. The main downsides to our trip were the noise from the track/train as it did rattle quite a bit and the toilets which are not to the standard we expect in Europe. Having said that, the trip was still comfortable, on line booking was simple and quick and both trains left and arrived at the stated times. We viewed this as a bit of an adventure, not knowing what to expect and would definitely travel this way again if the opportunity arises.

Very sneaky of you guys to include the most expensive insurance at the top of the page and not making it obvious that this is optional and changeable at the BOTTOM of the pAge. Bunch of wankers. Train was fine, clean. 1st class is supposed to have soft beds but they look exactly the same as they do in 2nd class. Save yourself the money and go 2nd class. Wait no, save yourself the money and buy at the station for half the price!

The sleeper carriage was clean and comfortable. I had a 20 hr journey and really enjoyed it, lots of cool scenery to view. I met lots of interesting people, was able to sleep pretty well, and enjoyed the food that was brought around. The toilet was clean until the end of the journey, so perhaps a bit of attention to it after the night would be good. Thoroughly recommend this service.

Don't expect Western Train travel. We knew it would be different and that was the allure as have done Malaysia-Singapore years ago. Found Staff at Da Nang station and one young girl on our carriage very abrupt, grumpy and didn't smile at all. Be aware that most sleepers will have families with young children in your carriage. Any number up to 5 on the bottom bunks. Not a problem really but you won't have access to sit on the bottom bunks, we stood sat in the hallway. "soft" bunks very hard and thin mattress. Train smooth in some sections but sometimes very jumpy and door rattles alnight so be prepared for staggered sleep.Smokers smoke comes through the AC in carriage at times. Reasonable trip but remember you're in Vietnam so put it down as an experiential. PS If you don't use a bidet, bring few sheets toilet paper.
