12Go has been very helpful and the service has been good. The train was comfortable, but overly cooled and it arrive very delayed. I believe the train slows for safety reasons but this should be clearly communicated at ticket purchase and on the train.

train #43 2nd Class AC seats only, Thai Railways (การรถไฟแห่งประเทศไทย), Mar 23, 2020
We boarded Train 43 at Ban Pong on 21 Mar 2020 during the Covid 19 pandemic , no hand sanitiser available at station or on train, no temperature checks performed. The train was delayed almost 30 mins but station staff did not advise us of this. The displayed details of this service advised that it was express although the train stopped at stations at regular intervals. Less than 30 mins into the trip we were served cake and about 30 mins later we were served a lukewarm lunch, well before lunchtime. The fold-down tables were very unclean, windows were dirty, no announcements of station stops in any other language but Thai, toilet was grotty with no toilet paper. Passengers kept boarding during the journey, no observation of spacing between passengers during a pandemic. We moved seats because a guy sitting near us was constantly sniffing and picking his nose and wiping snot on his jeans. We told the attendant and she did not do anything about it. The scenery became very monotous. We would not recommend Thai Railways to any tourists visiting Thailand. We disembarked at Surat Thani.

Terrible food and no possibility to buy anything, even water. The train was delayed. Not worth taking it for the view because it's mostly palm plantations anyway.

Train was over 3 hours late at Surat Thani (This seems normal from other reviews) so missed bus connection and then messed around with several other modes of transport. The first of these made TukTuk's seem luxurious! Arrived at Krabi after another 5 hours and was asked for extra Taxi fare to Ao Nang which was supposed to be included. The fare quoted for 15 Km was more than paid for the whole trip. When I refused the included transport miraculously arrived within 5 minutes.
