12Go has been very helpful and the service has been good. The train was comfortable, but overly cooled and it arrive very delayed. I believe the train slows for safety reasons but this should be clearly communicated at ticket purchase and on the train.

train #43 2nd Class AC seats only, Thai Railways, Mar 23, 2020
We boarded Train 43 at Ban Pong on 21 Mar 2020 during the Covid 19 pandemic , no hand sanitiser available at station or on train, no temperature checks performed. The train was delayed almost 30 mins but station staff did not advise us of this. The displayed details of this service advised that it was express although the train stopped at stations at regular intervals. Less than 30 mins into the trip we were served cake and about 30 mins later we were served a lukewarm lunch, well before lunchtime. The fold-down tables were very unclean, windows were dirty, no announcements of station stops in any other language but Thai, toilet was grotty with no toilet paper. Passengers kept boarding during the journey, no observation of spacing between passengers during a pandemic. We moved seats because a guy sitting near us was constantly sniffing and picking his nose and wiping snot on his jeans. We told the attendant and she did not do anything about it. The scenery became very monotous. We would not recommend Thai Railways to any tourists visiting Thailand. We disembarked at Surat Thani.

Terrible food and no possibility to buy anything, even water. The train was delayed. Not worth taking it for the view because it's mostly palm plantations anyway.

train #85 2nd Class Sleeper AC, Thai Railways, Mar 11, 2020
Train was over 3 hours late at Surat Thani (This seems normal from other reviews) so missed bus connection and then messed around with several other modes of transport. The first of these made TukTuk's seem luxurious! Arrived at Krabi after another 5 hours and was asked for extra Taxi fare to Ao Nang which was supposed to be included. The fare quoted for 15 Km was more than paid for the whole trip. When I refused the included transport miraculously arrived within 5 minutes.

The whole experience was great from booking to arrival. The first class sleeper was very comfortable and train ran to schedule. We traveled from Bangkok to Koh PhiPhi Island and service was excellent. Highly recommend this booking and travel experience.

train #85 2nd Class Sleeper AC, Thai Railways, Feb 25, 2020
The first train trip in Thailand which wasn't pleasant. The staff looking after our train car was scruffy and rude. Little care was taken throughout our trip to keep the car clean (usually staff come around often to offer a waste bag). The train also arrived 2 hours late at Surat Thani. Thankfully Lompraya bus and ferry services waited and made a plan. 12Go Asia still rocks in it's service - no fault there. But I'll think twice about taking this particular train trip again.

At the beginning we freaked out when we got on to the train, but don’t worry the beds are clean and comfortable. Take the lower bed, even though it’s costs a little bit more, because the light in the cabin is shining into the upper one and also you’re freezing to death because of the aircon. There are people selling food on the train, it’s better to bring ur own one though.

12go asia is a very useful way to book travel in advance. It was very easy to choose and pay for the tickets and simple to go and pick up the tickets too. I forgot my passport but they accepted my driver’s license too pick up too. They gave us money back too as we got two upper bunks rather than the upper and lower we had asked for so that was a good extra too! The train itself is such a good and time efficient way to travel. I got a 6.30pm train and at about 7.30-8pm they made up the beds with fresh clean sheets and you have curtains for privacy too. It’s not very dark if you’re on the top bunk and it’s a bit narrow but I slept well anyway. The bottom bunk is wider and darker I think. Definitely recommend using this mode of travel and means you can comfortably use the days on either side of it.

Very comfy beds. However our train broke down for 4 hours and no one told us anything- luckily I found a website to track the train. But we missed our connecting coach and ferry and 12Go refused to give me a refund. Toilet is also a bit odd- just a hole in the floor and throughout the journey there were little cockroaches in there

Night train 19.30 It was an ok experience, we was by the door opening so a bit cold and noisy, toilets are dirty, we arrived 90 minutes late in the morning, best to get some drinks and snacks before you gets the train not much available. Breakfast not worth having. Overall Ok would do it again.
