At 12Go our operators offer three types of service:

Cheap, Fast, Good - but you can usually pick only two of them!
Cheap & Fast won’t be Good. (e.g. buses from/to Khao San Road, local buses or 3rd class trains)
Cheap & Good won’t be Fast. (e.g. VIP trains in Thailand)
Fast & Good won’t be Cheap. (e.g. private limousine services, or VIP24 buses vs Express buses)

Make your choice! Please remember that though we are closely monitoring services, we are still an agency marketplace - meaning we focus on ticketing service and route availability / coverage rather than on factual seat recline angle you got today ^_^

Super nice train. Tidy. Fun to see the Malay countryside.
★★★★★ Jan 15, 2018 (train #9102 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
So easy to use

Building work at butterworth causes a few problems getting to ferry better signs would help
★★★☆☆ Dec 25, 2017 (bus VIP24, Sri Maju Group) :
The drive to Penang from KL was actually fine and on time in terms of departure and arrival. Drawbacks were driver spoke no english so announcements were all in malay even though i wasnt the only foreign guest. The arm rest of my seat was broken and no one helped to load and unload luggage to the cargo bay of the bus which made it inefficient and a hassle to find space.
★★★★★ Dec 22, 2017 (bus VIP24, Sri Maju Group) :
As a tourist, I enjoyed the bus ride and scenic Malaysian country side. It was an easy way to get from KL to mainland Penang.
★★★★★ Dec 22, 2017 (bus VIP, Transnasional) :
It was a good trip, everything worked out fine, only the bus driver could have helped a little bit with loading and unloading the luggage.

Good bus. Safely arrived. And comfortable. Thanks
★★★☆☆ Nov 17, 2017 (bus VIP, Seasons Express) :

Easy to use, on time and clean with friendly staff. However, the aircon was so incredibly cold that i was freezing even in long pants an a fleece sweater. I saw other people actually wearing winter jackets.

★★★☆☆ Sep 27, 2017 (train #9412 ETS Gold, KTM) :
There was something wrong with the railroad or with the electricity so the trains couldn't depart from KL Sentral and we waited a lot at the station. Then we went to some other train train took 50 minutes, after that to a very hot and stuffed shuttle bus(40 more minutes) and only at 8:30PM(our train tickets was for 4:20PM) we got in our train on the station which actually was about 25 minutes away from KL Sentral. All in all, we wasted 4 extra hours for this, we were stressed and hungry and we were too late for a ferry to Penang and needed to pay for a taxi extra money. The train itself is ok but the AC was on a very cold setting
★★★★★ Sep 16, 2017 (train #9204 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
Everything was wonderful.
★★★★☆ Sep 16, 2017 (train #9204 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
Very easy to navigate and fairly comfortable. As a number of people have stated the aircon is very cold so take something warm. The seats are narrow and not ideal for bigger people, however you can get up and walk around to stretch. The seats are alternated front and back facing, so try and secure a front facing seat to make the best of the scenery

★★★★☆ Aug 24, 2017 (train #9204 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
Good service. Alteration to departure due to some derailment near KL so sent out by LRT to end of line to catch train there. A little confusing but not excessively so. Train clean...but air con very cold so good to take a jumper with you. Thanks
★★★★★ Aug 18, 2017 (train #9204 ETS Platinum, KTM) :

★★★★☆ Aug 4, 2017 (train #9216 ETS Gold, KTM) :
Terminal station at butterworth does not allow passengers to wait at the station at around 1am to 5am. Passengers waiting for the opening of ferry and the establishments of butterworth at the 2nd floor waiting area were requested to leave. Hence, most of the people are at the ground floor bench or at the stairs sleeping. It is ideal to travel to butterworth at around 7am onwards
★★★★★ Aug 3, 2017 (train #9204 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
It was great

★★★★☆ Jul 10, 2017 (train #9202 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
Comfortable enough ride though facing backwards and fairly narrow seats, snacks a nice touch. No real complaints about the journey but the walk from the platform to the Georgetown ferry was crazy. Up and down a lot of stairs with luggage, despite being able to see the platform from the ferry entrance! Improvement work was going on so hopefully this will be rectified.
★★★☆☆ Jul 4, 2017 (train #9204 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
Seats are too small.. there should be a first class in the train aswell

Fast, comfortable, in time. We were provided some snacks for free in the beginning of the trip and there was a bar with more food and water. The only thing I didn't like is that aircon was set up too cold and it was freezing in the train.
★★☆☆☆ May 26, 2017 (bus VIP, Seasons Express) :
The bus was 1 hour late leaving. Our rest stop was meant to be for 20mins and it ended up being just under an hour. Our trip was supposed to take 4 hours so that we arrived at 9:30pm, we actually arrived at midnight. We were taken straight to the bus station over the bridge because we missed the ferry. It cost us 45RM to get a taxi to our hostel which was luckily open! We did get there so that's a plus I guess. Will probably get the train back to KL and not the bus.

Trip and flight were excellent, however the check in process for bag drop off was diabolical. Considering self check is supposed to make the process quick and easy, it wasn't and still took abot 1.5 hours to drop bags off.

★★★★★ Apr 23, 2017 (train #9202 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
Great train service from Kuala Lumpur Sentral to Butterworth! I'm a woman travelling solo so was a little but nervous, but the process was very straightforward, the carriage was quiet, clean and very comfortable. Plus, we got snacks! And all for about £15! It was an easy to use and stress free service from 12go.asia as well.
★★★★☆ Apr 18, 2017 (train #9204 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
Everything was good and travelling punctually. The bad thing are the many stairs at Butterworth Terminal. Unsuitable for older people and guests travelling with lot of luggage and heavy luggage.
★★★★☆ Apr 15, 2017 (train #9202 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
Good train journey, but staff in KL are rude
★★★☆☆ Apr 8, 2017 (train #9204 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
The train is a 5. Took express train from airport - sama-sama hotel took me to the express train. Then.. kinda wandered trying to locate my ETS from KL to Butterworth. Finally found info desk and pointed me in right direction. Was told too early - comeback later. Had lunch in mall. Good food.. several atms present, bathroom-- serious uck!!! They held up a sign /2 hr before departure. Followed the que and and got on the train. Strange little lunch served of chocolate milk & crackers. A very comfortable train ride. Nice views, except when the locals pull the blinds on you???? 1/2 the seats are forward - so check if you don't want to ride backward. If you get a seat next to luggage, no window. AND a very pleasant train ride. It's not the orient-express... and totally pleasant when you find the track
★★★★☆ Apr 3, 2017 (bus VIP, Seasons Express) :
My first time taking long haul coach to Northen. Bought my ticket online and reaching TBS only printed out the boarding pass. To me it is efficient and advanced!

★★★★★ Mar 7, 2017 (train #9202 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
The train was comfortable and exactly on time. Our allocated seats were facing away from the direction of travel, but there were plenty of empty seats so we re-located - no problem. Our receipts told us to check in at 'the counter' 30 minutes before departure. That was not necessary - because we had printed tickets we were sent directly to the train. KL Sentral station is currently undergoing renovations and Intercity trains are departing from Platform 3. We had no problems, there were many staff members to point us in the right direction.

The seat we got wasn't the best, as it was Car A seats 2C and 2D, which had no window and no legroom. There were spare seats available, so would have preferred to have been booked in another seat. Service ran pretty much to time, and appreciated the travel pack of food.
★★★★★ Feb 10, 2017 (train #9232 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
I've used 12go a lot and it always gets me a good price and an easy hitch free service.

A/C too cold. On board movie was frustrating--constantly interrupted by advertising AND no sound!! Really??
★★★★☆ Dec 23, 2016 (train #9232 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
This is an excellent fast train service (Platinum). Our return train from Kuala Lumpur Sentral to Butterworth was good. Here again, the staff on the train were very friendly and helpful - good customer service. Our seats on this journey were good and we were able to stretch our legs (2A/2B). The only problem we had was that there is only one lift at Butterworth and, whilst the train arrived at 12.35 (on time), it took us a further 20 minutes to exit the train station with our suitcase, as we waited for a vacant lift. The Platinum service takes about three and a half hours.
★★★★☆ Dec 23, 2016 (bus VIP, Billion Stars Express) :
slight delay leaving K.L, otherwise a comfortable journey. Seats were comfortable and good movies shown on board.
★★★★☆ Dec 16, 2016 (train #9232 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
Ride was smooth and quiet on the train. Arrived about 20 min before scheduled time in Butterworth, which was good as it allowed us to catch the ferry to Penang without too much wait time..

★★★☆☆ Dec 12, 2016 (train #9232 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
A little cold, noisy film, poor window view and facing wrong direction. Coffee only with sugar too! However on time, clean and smooth ride.
★★★★★ Dec 7, 2016 (train #9232 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
Everything went very smoothly. Caught a local train to KL Sentral. There were no directions to Interstate Express Train Services so asked for directions at the information counter. Went up to the lounge and waited for an hour for the gate to open. As long as you stay alert and track the train number, it is a relatively straight forward process. Most announcements are in Malay, so the best thing to do is look out for the train number. Went down to the platform and boarded our train. The train ride was comfortable and fast. We landed in Butterworth ahead of the scheduled arrival.
★★★★☆ Dec 7, 2016 (train #9236 ETS Gold, KTM) :
No significant complaints about train. Clean and quick.Polite staff. Would be much better to be able to select seats through this service so can get the ones facing forward and good location relative to windows.
★★★★☆ Nov 28, 2016 (train #9232 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
The train ride itself was totally fine and the air cond is not as cold as I read about earlier, so they might have fixed that problem. But the administration at KL Sentral prior to leaving for Butterworth was really inefficient. The gates only open barely 5 minutes before train leave and in the meantime there were a couple of announcements for final call for the train which is concerning for first timers to the train service. The crowd was understandably nervous and crowded at the entrance, with the staff only checking the tickets on one side and half of the side got in without being checked. On the train there is a conductor checking the tickets, which makes me wonder what was the use of the first half hearted check. Since there was a very short period of time to get on the train and settle down, there was a bit of mad rush. The train leaves on time, which is great if u manage to get there and settle in quickly. Thank God the train is not long, so you are not too put out if you get the furthest coach. Might be a bit of nit picking, but it really was a bad smudge on what was otherwise a pleasant experience, from ticket purchase to destination.

Very good efficient service. On time and a comfortable trip
★★★☆☆ Nov 12, 2016 (train #9232 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
Acquiring tickets from MRTwas easy. Train ride was pleasant and quiet. Question: Why would ticket agent purchase tickets for tourists that had NO windows? Conductor was kind enough to let us change seats. Seats were comfortable on this newer electric train. Recommend it.
★★★★☆ Nov 6, 2016 (train #9232 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
Train was delayed but only by 25 mins and the free snacks are a nice touch. Would be helpful if the attendants on the platform told you which carriage was which before you get on but overall fast and comfortable trip. Thanks

The train trip is great, but on-line we were not able to purchase a child's ticket for our daughter. However it was very comfortable and the snacks were great! We are frequent travellers to Penang and will be making the trip again. With many thanks!

Train was great however we had seats 1A and 1B we went by train to see the country and theses seats had no view at all. Fortunately there were spare seats so we were able to move.
★★★☆☆ Oct 1, 2016 (train #9232 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
K.Lumpur escalator not operating for descent to platform, Train great new clean comfortable, aircon a little cool! Snack appreciated on board. I've had problems before at Butterworth when heavily laden 2 heavy cases, and a very unpleasant series of steps to be climbed descended to access the ramp to the ferry! Still same problem of no ease of access for ferry at Butterworth due to the on going construction of new complex. The platform nearest to the bottom of the ramp already has steps to the ramp but access is barred by fence! A one way turnstile would make easy access to the ramp thus avoiding the steps over the rail track! I do not see the new building being completed for at least 3-4 years, a pity to spoil an enjoyable train trip with this serious problem at Butterworrth for anybody wishing to access the ferry!
★★★☆☆ Oct 1, 2016 (train #9216 ETS Gold, KTM) :
No choice in seats, cold, crowded and running very late
★★★☆☆ Sep 22, 2016 (train #9208 ETS Gold, KTM) :
Deliberately booked train from KL to B/worth for view of countryside on journey but got allocated seats in coach A by luggage rack with no window and restricted leg room. Time tabling excellent.
★★★☆☆ Sep 14, 2016 (bus VIP, Seasons Express) :
We had to change the bus. Seem like the first one was brouen it was very shaky when the driver tried to go faster. After that was everything ok. Anyway some people was still travelling to closest places I guess because they stayed on the bus
★★★★☆ Sep 2, 2016 (train #9208 ETS Gold, KTM) :
Excellent service. Left on time. Very clean train and toilet. Didn't like seats 3a and 3b much as we could hardly see out of what window we had and we were facing backwards
★★★★★ Aug 27, 2016 (train #9232 ETS Platinum, KTM) :

The trip was smooth and very good. I had an enjoyable time seeing a different side of Malaysia. The staff were friendly and very informative. Although the kids movie was playing on repeat, but I did not mind. Thank you for bringing safety to Butterworth. Looking forward to travelling with you guys again.

We enjoyed our trip between KL and Butterworth. Kids film was shown twice but that was OK although I don't recall seeing any young children on the train. Drank some coffee which was OK although the plastic wrapped trays of curry & rice looked a bit scary. Toilets were kept very clean. Staff smiled and were helpful. Ring tones on peoples mobile phones drove us a bit crazy but that is their rudeness not yours. Thank you.
★★★★★ Jun 26, 2016 (train #9232 ETS Platinum, KTM) :
Excellent journey. Easy to book, good value for money (I'm from UK and know all about rail travel that isn't VFM). All staff were effective and helpful. I'll certainly be using these services again during this trip.

Quick and easy booking - boarding was fast and convenient as we were running a little late! Air-conditioning was quite cold and it would've been nice to have somewhere to plug in headphones to watch the TV. Other than that, a smooth trip.
★★★★☆ May 31, 2016 (train #9208 ETS Gold, KTM) :
Lovely train but needs a little more standing luggage area and the air on was too fierce after an hour
★★★★☆ May 19, 2016 (train #9208 ETS Gold, KTM) :

★★★☆☆ Apr 15, 2016 (train #9232 ETS Gold, KTM) :
The seat was perfectly fine, staff were great and the train was very clean. However the AC was set far too low so people had to pull out jumpers and coats to stay warm. Also the tv became very frustrating due to the same 3 film trailers being played on a loop for the whole journey. Especially as the films advertised ranged from 7-20years old!
