It's nice to take the train if u don't have a lot of baggage. I took 3 class because it was the only available and it only have fans and open windows. I'll recommend if you are traveling with just a backpack otherwise no.

We sat 2nd class because there were no more tickets available in 3rd or 4th class. There were people lying on the floor, all over the benches. It was cold because of all the windows that were open. A huge stench from the toilets.

Nice 7 hour traintrip in 2nd class AC. Some meals and drinks were served free of charge. Comfort of the seats was just ok. Train left Hua Hin on time and as scheduled was the arrival time in Surat Thani!
