First we had to pick up our tickets from 12go.asia office opposite the railway station. Everything went smooth there and a girl had our tickets ready. Then it was just to find the train which was easy because of the big screen at the station. We found our carriage easily and the train was very clean and I believe new. Service was excellent. Soon after we left Bangkok, a man came to make our beds and took our orders. We wanted to have beers and ordered them. But it was 0 % and he didn't tell it. The disappointment was huge. We also ordered breakfast, which wasn't very good. Beverage and the breakfast were expensive, better to have own food. We arrived to Nong Khai on time and overall we were very satisfied with Thai Railways.

Clean new train, easy quiet trip. Border crossing was also easy thanks to 12GoAsia's package deal. I'll do it again without hesitation. 12GoAsia's booking system is easy to use, and easy to pick up the tickets too. Thanks!

Everything was well scheduled. If you follow their instructions all is without any problem. Only after passing immigration in Laos there is no window to checked in but the van driver who takes you and other ppl to their destinations. Good job. Will use again.

The train ride was comfortable and all facilities were clean throughout the journey. I would just recommend to either switch off lights in the coach during night times or to provide thicker curtains otherwise it is hard to get a good sleep.

Enjoyed the sleeper train. Was easy to find the platform from the board at Bagnkok train station. The guards on the train were so friendly and cheery which was lovely. Beds were comfy. I'd recommend getting the lower birth as the top bunk don't have windows and the train does get quite bumpy! My friend was sick from being on the top. The lower bed was great.

All organised well and the instructions helped. 'Second class' sleeper excellent, super clean (even the toilets), *ferociously* air conditioned. If you're over about 5'10" (178cm) you won't be able to stretch out, if you're vegetarian you won't be able to order dinner onboard (but they do toast for breakfast and very strong coffee), otherwise all good.

I booked the first class sleeper train to Vientiane with go2asia. They were very easy to deal with and they answered any questions by email quickly and efficiently. The first class sleeper train was a little expensive but our cabin was clean and comfortable and we felt like we received preferential treatment as a first class traveller. The whole train journey went smoothly and was a pleasant experience

Bus interior a bit tired, but overall a great experience. On time, driving felt safe. Super - lovely bus lady. Nice food stop, complementary food served way better than expected. Would love to rate 5 star but bus was a bit used, no fault of the staff. Thank you for a great trip. Recommended..

Ticket booking was straightforward. Booked online from the UK and picked up the tickets from the 12Go office in Bangkok. Train was comfortable and on time (although the air conditioning was a little fierce). Our third time using this company without any issues or concerns.

Everything is good except the light. They should have dimmed it darker so that we are comfortable to sleep in.

train #25 2nd Class Sleeper AC, Thai Railways, Dec 5, 2019
I booked a sleeper so I could get some sleep. I was waiting for the bright lights to be turned off like any normal train at about 10pm. They did not turn off at all and remained bright the entire night making it impossible tog et any sleep. Passengers should be warned in future to bring along an eye mask.

Best-Rated Companies for this Route

Unlike buses or taxis which have numerous companies offering their services, train service is usually offered by just one major company in each country. As railway service requires a large amount of infrastructure, most railway companies are government-owned and are a part of the national transport system.

One of the best advantages of travelling by train is that railway stations are often conveniently located within or very near major cities and urban areas. Immediately on arrival to their destination, travellers find themselves in close proximity to important facilities like hotels, supermarkets, and hospitals.

If you travel with a lot of bags and luggage, trains are your best option. Luggage weight limits on trains are rather flexible and allow you to carry multiple bags with you.

Special or luxury trains feature sufficient legroom which allows you to stretch your legs and relax. In comfort and space these train seats can be compared to business class airplane seats.

Similar to buses, trains can provide a variety of amenities to make your travel more comfortable and enjoyable. Modern trains have WIFI service, a snack counter and a drinking bar. Onboard toilets can be a life saver for travellers with queasy stomachs.

Lastly, unlike buses and other overland means of transport, trains are very rarely involved in accidents.
