Company Information

As the flag carrier airline of Singapore based at Singapore Changi Airport, Singapore Airlines is a world-class international airline partly owned by the Singapore government and Temasek Holdings, a holding company that holds 56% of voting stock.
In terms of revenue, it ranks among the top 15 carriers worldwide and 10th for international passengers carried.

Routes served by Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines operates a variety of aircraft fleet including Airbus A380, the world's largest passenger aircraft. It was, in fact, the launch customer of Airbus A380. As of 31 December 2017, the airline has 109 registered aircrafts and several cabins classes including suites (available only on the Airbus A380–800 aircraft), first-class, business class, premium economy class, and economy class.

Singapore Airlines has two subsidiaries:
SilkAir that operates regional flights to secondary cities
Scoot which is a low-cost carrier operator

While most airlines widely promote their aircraft and services, Singapore Airlines bases most of its marketing on its female flight attendants known as the Singapore Girls. The flight attendants whose uniform is the sarong kebaya have won numerous awards including the Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Awards for 'World's Best Cabin Crew Service,' a distinction they have retained for 23 years in a row.

Regional destinations

Regionally, Singapore Airlines most popular routes include Kuala Lumpur to Singapore and back as well as Phuket to Singapore.

If you leave the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 7.35am and 11.10am, you arrive at the Singapore Changi Airport 55 minutes later. The airline also offers one hour non-stop flights scheduled at 8.55am, 10.25am, 12.00noon, 2.35pm, 5.00pm, 6.00pm, 6.45pm, and 8.30pm. Your ticket for the economy class will cost MYR 2,428.71, and you’ll get instant confirmation once you purchase the ticket.

It takes between 55 minutes, an hour and an hour five minutes to fly non-stop from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. The first 55-minutes Singapore Airlines flight departs Singapore Changi Airport at 6.00am. You can also catch the 7.10am, 10.15am, and 12.50pm flights. If you board the 8.30am flight, it will take you an hour to get to Kuala Lumpur at 9.30am. The other one hour flights are scheduled at 9.20am, 3.10pm, 4.10pm, 4.55pm, and 6.40pm. The last Singapore Airlines flight to Kuala Lumpur departs at 7.55pm and arrives at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport one hour and five minutes later at 9.00pm. Economy class tickets for this trip cost SGD 515.95.

At 8.50am, you can fly from Phuket Airport in Thailand to Singapore Changi Airport non-stop, and arrive one hour and forty minutes later at 11.30am. An economy class ticket will cost you THB 10,408.

If you are flying into Bangkok, Thailand, you can either board the 7.15am, 9.45am, 1.10pm, 4.00pm, 5.35pm, and 6.45pm flights at Singapore Changi Airport and arrive in Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok, 2 hours and 25 minutes later. To secure a ticket for this trip, you need SGD 2,161.69.

International destinations

Singapore Airlines flies to 62 international destinations in 32 countries, India and Australia being the popular international destinations with six flights each. A ticket from Singapore Changi Airport to Indira Gandhi Airport, Delhi, India goes for SGD 3,700. If you are flying into Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport, Mumbai, India, you’ll need SGD 1600 to secure a ticket.
It takes 7 hours and 50 minutes to fly from Singapore to Sydney, Australia with tickets going for SGD 7,700 and 9 hours and 25 minutes to fly into Melbourne at the cost of SGD 7,700.

Keep in mind

If you are flying economy on Singapore Airlines, you'll have the services of a steward at your disposal. Economy class also offers a washroom, air conditioning and slimmer seats with more legroom and adjustable headrests.

However, you are allowed 30 kg check-in luggage. You can pay for the rest at checkout. You may select an Economy Class Seat in advance for free or a fee, depending on the fare type you choose.

If you prefer to disembark the plane first, you can opt for the Forward Zone Seats, located closer to the doors.

Singapore Airlines also has a Premium Economy class cabin available on the Airbus A380, Airbus A350, and Boeing 777–300ER aircraft. Passengers in this class enjoy seats designed with greater width and footrests and stowage space for personal items like laptops, water bottles, and headphones. With Premium Economy class, you can select a seat in advance for free or pay a fee to get an extra legroom seat.

Passengers should check in two hours before departure for domestic flights and three hours before for international flights. Ensure that you get to the airport on time.

For domestic flights, passengers require a valid ID or passport to complete the checking process while for international flights, a valid visa. It is essential to know the visa rules of the country you are visiting.

Travellers reviews

Many of the passengers who reviewed Singapore Airlines online seemed to be satisfied with their services. They loved the cabin crew, the punctuality of their flight and felt that they had gotten value for their money.

KKLI1 is well designed, modern and efficient. KLIA2 walking distance around 1 km to arrival hall which is a bit far.

Easy check-in. Plane no where near full so "upgraded" our seats. Left on time. Service was very attentive. Even the food was pretty good. Highly recommend Singapore Airlines.
