Malee Van

Quick company intro
Malee Van is one of the largest operators based in Bangkok servicing the popular beach resorts such as Hua Hin, as well as the surrounding towns. They offer fast and direct transport to some of the most popular tourist spots in the country and are well-used by everyone from Thai families heading to the beach for the weekend to expats travelling to and from Bangkok for business.

Routes served by Malee Van
This company focus on providing transport links between Bangkok and the southern towns of Hua Hin, Cha Am, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Pranburi, with a regular and reliable service throughout the day. All vans departing Bangkok leave from Sa Tai Mai, the city's southern bus terminal.

Bangkok–Hua Hin

The Bangkok to Hua Hin route is the most popular trip offered by Malee Van. Tickets cost THB180 for the 3-hour journey, with 29 services departing every day. Vans leave every 30 minutes between 05.00-19.00. The return journey from Hua Hin costs the same, but with 27 departures each day, between 06.00-19.00.

Bangkok–Cha Am

On the road from Bangkok to Hua Hin lies the smaller and quieter town of Cha Am. You can reach here by van from Bangkok for THB160, with departures every 30 minutes between 05.00-19.00. This journey usually takes just under 3 hours.

Bangkok–Pranburi

Trips from Bangkok to Pranburi (3 ¾ hours) and Prachuap Khiri Khan (4 ½ hours) cost THB180 and THB220 respectively. Departures for both destinations are every 30 minutes between 05.00-19.00. The return journey from Pranburi to Bangkok costs the same but with departures from 06.00 until 19.00, also every ½ hour.

Hua Hin–Prachuap Khiri Khan

Vans from Hua Hin leave for Prachuap Khiri Khan every 30 minutes with a journey time of 1 ½ hours. There are very regular departures throughout the day between 06.00-19.00, priced at THB100.

Hua Hin–Pranburi

From Hua Hin you can also head to nearby Pranburi for just THB100, with vans leaving every ½ hour between 06.00-19.00. This trip only takes 30 minutes, so perfect for a day trip. The return journey costs the same but takes around 1 hour instead.

Pranburi–Prachuap Khiri Khan

From Pranburi you can also reach Prachuap Khiri Khan in just an hour with services between 06.00-19.00 costing THB100.

Pros
Due to services departing every 30 minutes throughout the day, you are almost guaranteed a seat on the very next van. It's a hugely reliable schedule with most trips arriving on time, or sometimes even early, something that is very rare in Thailand and neighbouring countries.

Unlike some other companies it is possible to be put onto the next service, without having to pay for another ticket, if you miss your scheduled van.

The services run by Malee Travel are excellent value for money, often less than the amount charged by many of their competitors.

Cons
Like all vans on this route, and most throughout Thailand, there is very limited space for luggage. It may be the case that you have to pay for an additional seat to store your luggage as space is at a premium. This might not happen in every instance, but don't be surprised if you need to!

Keep in mind
It's worth noting that unlike many other transport providers based in Bangkok, Malee Travel services leave from Sai Tai Mai bus station in the south of the city, not Mo Chit in the north. This is important to bear in mind when booking your ticket and makes this one of the best choices if you are staying in the south of Bangkok and want to head down to the beaches.

What travellers say
Malee Travel receive glowing reviews for the reliable service they offer, with one of the most regular departure schedules around. It's hard to find another company that offer departures every 30 minutes throughout the day, on any route!

Also, based on the price many rate Malee Travel very highly. THB180 is a highly competitive price for the popular Bangkok – Hua Hin route, with some companies charging far higher rates for this trip as there is a lot of tourists making the journey.

The majority of negative reviews focus on the space within the van, although, in truth, this is no more of an issue than on any other van used for these trips. Luggage space is very limited so it can get cramped inside. If you're heading from Bangkok direct to Prachuap Khiri Khan, you may not fancy 4 ½ hours inside so it might be worth considering breaking up the journey and spending a night or two in Hua Hin or Cha Am to make the trip more pleasant.

June 2017

Kong, Jun 24, 2017 - Seats were comfy but a little too crowded, the van also serves as a minibus which allows locals to hop on and off, so door will be slamming from time to time, but we think it's fine
Cecilia, Jun 24, 2017 - I'm so disappointed. Even though I had bought a ticket in advance for the specific date, and I was 30 min in advance, and I was the only one departure in the van at that time the person in the counter forced me to buy a new full prize ticket from her otherwise as she said the ticket would be valid the next day (even thought the correct date was stated on the ticket). I felt powerless to refuse to pay since I had my hotel booked in Hua Hin already. Even thought it's not much money it feel just so bad to bee tricked and used in that way.
Ew, Jun 18, 2017 - Good service, place that waiting was too hot....
Khor, Jun 16, 2017 - Your booth beside 7 Eleven should have 12GO.ASIA on the Banner of the booth.

May 2017

Peter, May 24, 2017 - Changed our destination DMK but they would not transfer value of prepaid ticket to Southern bus terminal bought online even though same company, same date and same time. Online the DMK option was not listed! Peter
Jay, May 10, 2017 - We turned up at 9:30 for a bus at 10. We were rudely greeted by the lady. At 10 the lady then said it would be another 30mins not giving us any explanation. By the time it came to 10:30am she said it would be another 30mins, we had a plane to catch. The reason we got the 10am mini bus was to make sure we were on time. We finally got on a bus at 11:20. 1 hour and 20mins later than we had booked with no one giving us an explanation of why we were so late nor anyone giving us any type of apologie the women was extremely rude. When we finally got on the mini bus the driver was on 2 phones the whole way home. He had one in his hand texting and another to his ear. We also had to pay for an extra seat as we had two bags. This was a waste of money as the bags went in the back of the bus anyway. Worst experience I have had using transport in Thailand. We have friends who were going to use this service and I will make sure they do not and make sure they tell everyone else not to use it.
Vo, May 2, 2017 - The driver is so good!

April 2017

Caroline, Apr 19, 2017 - Had to Pay twice
Anders, Apr 17, 2017 - On time, pleasant and cheap
Justine, Apr 16, 2017 - Good thing is we are able to secure van tickets back to Bangkok on festive SongKran day. It is difficult to find the van stop so be prepared to spend some time asking locals for help and going onto a random van.
Sean, Apr 13, 2017 - Driver was reckless and careless. We did not feel safe at all.
Zala, Apr 12, 2017 - Hey guys, all good, I would suggest that you add the comment on the "how to find us" stating "minivan platform 9" ;) The departure was 30 minutes late, but this was expected. Will defi use you guys again, Regards, Zala
Lillian, Apr 8, 2017 - The ride was pleasant, and provided a brief rest stop to stretch legs and get nourishment. I would recommend that whatever you bring can be placed on your lap. The van is for passengers, no luggage space. I read their website so I was prepared. The driver and passengers were very helpful to someone like me who does not speak any Thai. I would definitely use this service again.

March 2017

Forslund, Mar 26, 2017 - He stopped at least 15 times to pick up and let of people like an ordinary bus route. He also doing so much other than keep hands on steering wheel. This time okay but one day he will crash
Graham, Mar 13, 2017 - Much better traveling back today although the pickup point isn't easy to find in Hua Hin for tourists as its difficult to explain to local taxi drivers where you want to go.
Jasmin, Mar 11, 2017 - sucks! Booked for 6am and transport arrived at 7.30. No one helped me nor spoke English. Really want my money back. Worst service!
Graham, Mar 9, 2017 - The most horrendous trip ever. Got to bus station at 10am for our 11am bus. Told bus leaving at 10.20am. 10.05 told there had been an accident and we would have to wait an hour. Ok no problem. 10.10am told bus is leaving now, load 2 bags and 3 people. Driver drives like a lunatic at over 80mph while answering the phone for the next hour before we stop and have to transfer bus's. There is hardly any room to fit us and our 2 bags on the bus, that we have paid for. We have to lift our bags over everyone else to the back seat before enduring another 2 hours of being bounced about at 80mph on the cramped back seat with our bags. We are then told to get out and find a taxi when we reach our destination town. 10-0763 was the second mini bus. Didn't get the reg of the first one.???? Can't wait for the return trip Monday morning.

February 2017

Hew, Feb 15, 2017 - shuttle van didn't show up on time so i decide to grab a van that on the road. Unable to contact their customer service
Cherize, Feb 13, 2017 - We got there early and the van driver was extremely rude and wouldn't allow us to sit in front on open seats with our bags, until another Thai lady told him he's being rude to us. We can understand a bit of thai and he was complaining about us paying online and that we don't pay him directly and he can do what he wants. This was very sad and I don't think we'd book a van online again because of this incident. We had a fantastic weekend, until this man ruined it.
Linda, Feb 1, 2017 - Van was full. No place for our 2 backpacks so we bought another seat to accomadate our luggage. Vans should have room for luggage without us having to pat extra!

January 2017

Jacques, Jan 13, 2017 - Very bad company. Nobody say 'hello', neither goodby, nobody speak english and we had problems with them. And we arrived 3 hours late.
Di, Jan 12, 2017 - Very difficult to find station at Hua Hin. Map needs to be clearer.
Malieta, Jan 4, 2017 - Efficient booking on website Asia2go. Took a while to find counter 41, just found it by looking at destination to Hua Hin. Great service, courteous and helpful.
Natsumi, Jan 3, 2017 - my booking is 3:00pm, but I could not reach the meeting point. however they can arrange mini bus to 4:30pm. mini bus is very clean and nice soft seat.
Gerardus, Jan 2, 2017 - We Booked tickets to Pranburi. Everyone get out in Hua hin and we had to leave the bus to and grab a taxi to Pranburi for 1000,00thb. Scammers
Babie, Jan 1, 2017 - Suggest specific counter and should be written in English because when we got there , there was no counter 41. Good thing was a friend of mine can speak a little Thai so we were able to find that Cha-am counter. 12go.asia pls update this matter

December 2016

Camilo, Dec 29, 2016 - Not very comfortable, and they made me get off faster than I meeded
Chen, Dec 25, 2016 - It was a smooth and safe trip from Bangkok to Huahin
Low, Dec 23, 2016 - The service are sucks and I DO NOT recommend anyone to buy tickets via 12go. When I called up to ask for the location they just anyhow give me a location that I can't find and at the end I've to back to my hotel and ask staff to rearrange a new van to pick me up back to Bangkok and make me paid extra 720THB. The staff only can speak simple english and can't give any solution and only just answer me YES YES YES just to make me frustrated and give up. This is a VERY BAD experience in my trip. PLEASE don't buy any tickets via 12go.
Zuzana, Dec 15, 2016 - I do NOT recommend to buy tickets via 12go. Really, dont buy it here. The experience was terrible. We had very hard time to find the right van as lot of drivers stopped next us. They didnt speak english and labels on vans was written in thai there was so much confusion and we also got to wrong van. Hua hin station is located far from city center - we spent another 150bth for taxi. It is much much more easier to catch a van on the street or at nearest van stop and pay in cach.
Eduard, Dec 6, 2016 - Its OK. Is a little Bit dificult to find the right operator at the Station in Bangkok
Beau, Dec 3, 2016 - The trip was fast and the van was clean with new seats. Maybe I missed where it is written, but the bus charged me a full passenger rate for my bag. If this is the case, it needs to be more clearly stated when booking. Also, you need to put the physical address of the old bus station on your website. It was impossible to find on google maps. And very misleading since the only Bus station I was able to find was the new bus station.

November 2016

Lisa, Nov 27, 2016 - The driver was friendly. He stopped for fuel and a break. It took 3.5 hours to get to Bangkok from Hua Hin. Beware if you are going from Bangkok to Hua Hin. There are two Southern Bus Terminals. An old one and a new one. Put in the full address at the bottom of the page not the title at the top.
Minna, Nov 22, 2016 - Driver was happy and helpfull ????????????
Lisa, Nov 21, 2016 - We ended up having to pay twice. Although the ticket states Southern Terminal, it is the old Southern Terminal not the new one. We paid for a taxi and were running late. The result was gains to pay again or pay another 200 bht to go to the old terminal.
Pua, Nov 18, 2016 - We were not sure where to take the minivan. It's states counter 41 on the ticket but we couldn't find any counter 41 there. End up,we called up the number and get a Thai to explain our location in order for them to pick us up. We arrived in 3.5hours which is acceptable. However, the van stopped at many points to pick up or drop off some customers.
Pua, Nov 18, 2016 - The van delays on the arrival time. We took 5 hours to reach bangkok station which it supposed only 3 hours. The van keeps stop at different point to pick up passengers. But so far, the price still worth the service because of cheapest way from hua hin to bkk.
Carly, Nov 13, 2016 - Very good and helpful :)
Richard, Nov 8, 2016 - The driver was professional and drove safely. Halfway to Bangkok, he stopped at a service station for gas which gave the riders a few minutes to take a rest break and get some food. For anyone wondering where to catch the van in Hua Hin, there is an area set up in front of the Seven Eleven ACROSS the street from Market Village. There is a covered area with a desk and benches for people waiting on the van. The girl that works the desk doesn't speak a lot of English, but if you tell her the destination city she can make sure you get on the correct van, which helped a lot.
Kieran, Nov 2, 2016 - Nobody knew where to get the bus from around the pick up location so ended up paying again for a different bus
